(Stupid Question Alert)
Can I use Porosity Control after Chagrin Valley Soap instead of the ACV rinse. My hair doesn't respond well to the ACV rinse and I would love to try the Chagrin Valley bar.:ohwell:

My hair doesn't care for ACV rinses either. . . try a citric acid rinse instead.

I tried the nettle bar from CV.I've used it twice and while I'm lathering it feels great.Really soft, luscious, and supple. Then when I rinsed,it felt somewhat stripped.I really wanted these poo bars to work. Also used the babassu marshmallow and honey butter in my hair, still felt the same. Now I have breakage, isnt that great.I did forget to DC my first wash using the bars.I DCed on the others to get my softness back. Why should I prepoo, and acv when my Elucence gets the job done w/ nada? These are a no go for me.:wallbash:I never want to try ANY poo bar again. Finally stopped my breakage w/ Aphogee but had to try this...

Just tried Karen's Body Beautiful Juicy Shampoo Bar yesterday, and I like it. Works like my other poo bars :yep:.

Anyone try the shampoo bars from Mehandi? I really wanna try these for washing out the henna.

I got a couple CV bars last week tea tree oil and neem, and the carrots and honey, I also got shampoo bar for my two dogs.

I showered and washed my face and hair with the neem and tea tree and OMG my hair felt awesome, and the next morning my face was awesome I suffer from acne and frequent cystic acne >_< and its been like 4 day and I haven't had more than one tiny pimple! Oh and my hair feels awesome I'm so glad I bought this I feel like I should stock up on it.

^^^Yes their regular bars are amazing.I love the Juniper Comfrey Mint,it gives me an invigorating shower every time! Her complexion soaps are nice. Those poo bars still have me :ohwell:.FYI,I'm relaxed I think that plays a factor.(Jasmine doesnt even recommend hers for relaxed hair)

I have tried the Babassu & Marsh Mallow form Chagrin Valley, I love it - I also have the Cafe Moreno shampoo bar - will be trying that one soon. My hair fairs much better with the use of this bar... my last 3 shampoo washes I used this bar. I didn't have to AC rinse afterward. My hair feels moisturized and soft but I do condition after the wash even though it doesn't feel like I need to. Don't want chance the dry hair.

i use the dr. bronners one. I really like this one. I WILL buy more. dr. bronners has alot of them. If you can't tell. I'm kinda adicted to dr. bronners. My hair loves it!

Okay here is my stupid question for the day...I used a shampoo bar for the first time by Afroveda. I wasn't sure if I was suppose to rub it in my hair (was scared of it tangling it) or lather it up in my hand. I did a little a both and didn't get many suds (have a lot of hair). Any advice????/

I recently started using shampoo bars (in June), and I find that the best method for me is to lather the bar in my hands. I shampoo in about 5 sections. Generally, I lather my hands, and then put my hands through the hair to the scalp and massage. Then I rinse the suds out through the lenght. This works great for me.

When I tried running the bar through my hair, it felt waxy after the shampoo and I didn't want to use an ACV rinse.

thanks Golden, it seems as if the bar I had wasn't really lathering in my hand..

Last week I purchased a shikakai soap bar for the first time...I'm totally in love with how easily it lathers up on my hair! :cupidarrow: My poor little shampoos are going to be so lonely.:yep:

Soap is the only thing I use to wash my hair now and days. Sometimes I'll do my version of a co-wash (conditioner/baking soda mix). Shampoo just doesn't compare to natural or handmade soaps! :yep:
But anyway to answer your question..

I usually run the bar down the length of my wet hair. I just use smooth strokes, I don't rub the bar into my head b/c that causes all kinds of tangles and confusion. After I get enough soap on my hair I work it in....and since my hair is natural I only massage my scalp, and smooth the resulting lather down the length a few times.

I hope that helps!

i am still loving the chagrin valley carrot milk and honey shampoo bar. it is the only one that i can use two or more times a week with no problems at all. it moisturizes like nobodys bidness.

I use the shikakai bar. I just lather is up in my hands and use my fingertips to massage my scalps. The best thing about it is that it doesn't dry my hair out.

I have the cafe moreno soap bar from Chagrin Valley. Says that it works best with coffee rinses. So, I'm going to buy some fresh coffee beans this weekend and give it a shot. I've had it for about 2 months and have been afraid to use it. Here is the description and the ingredients.

Cafe Moreno Shampoo Bar

Moreno is the Spanish word for brunette. Brunettes have been pouring fresh brewed coffee on their hair for centuries to help transform flat brown tones to into shiny, rich color and maybe even do away with some of those pesky gray strands. Made with cloves, to enhance warm tones, and quadruple strength fresh brewed coffee, which enriches brown hues and provides astringent benefits to your scalp, this shampoo is natural way of brightening dull brown hair. Olive oil, rich in oleic acid, promotes full-bodied hair and a healthy scalp. Rice bran contains proteins that may help strengthen the hair shaft and prevent split ends. It adds sheen and manageability while moisturizing and conditioning. Emollient rich, nourishing babassu oil moisturizes and restores hair strength and elasticity, for shiny, healthy-looking hair. Made with 20% unrefined shea butter which absorbs quickly into the scalp to provide deep nourishment for the hair shaft, as it moisturizes and softens dry, dull, or damaged hair; resulting in improved luster and manageability. The natural oil from the coffee beans adds luster to dry hair and studies done at a university in Germany suggest that caffeine promotes hair growth. The warm sensuous essential oil blend of clove, lavender, patchouli and ylang ylang blend nicely with a hint of coffee, promotes the natural moisture balance, and is beneficial for dry and damaged hair

Ingredients: Saponified oils of clove infused olive, babassu, coconut, castor bean, unrefined shea butter, rice bran, and expeller pressed canola; brewed coffee; essential oils of clove, patchouli, ylang ylang, lavender; and rosemary oil extract.

I have a shampoo bar from HairVeda, but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I guess there is no time like the present.

I have never used shampoo bars before, but I am definitely interested in trying them! I'm off right now to do a search for different combos and types. Can't wait to see what it might do for my hair, as opposed to regular liquid shampoo.

ETA: It's one day later, and I've already ordered two! Can't wait for them to arrive in the mail now! I might be saying, "Move over, CON green label and Joico..." in a few weeks!

Yes as of the beginning of this month and I love them! I purchased all of the Dr. Bonners castle shampoo bars except the Tea Tree! I am in love with the Eucalyptus one! It is minty but packs a punch! You can feel it tingle! It does lather very well especially since I'm in braids! It's making me not want to go back to conventional shampoos, but of course I will, being a pj I have many shampoos. And I will not trash them for any reason. But the bars are absolutely my fav!!!!:drunk:

I have just started using Hairveda's poo bar and I like it. My hair does feel kind of stripped after shampooing with it- so I only use it to clarify. But I do love how it lathers.

I just ordered a Lotus/Ylang-ylang Mehandi Shampoo Bar from Mehandi.com. Has anyone ever tried this one? I usually get the Rosemary bar and I love it.

I also want to order some bars from Chargin Valley Soaps and after reading all the reviews on this, I was wondering if there is a discount code for LHCF members for this website? I would love to know before I order.

Thanks in advance.

I received from CV today:
Honey Butter
Babassu Marsh Mallow
Babussu Olive
Citris
Mud and Clay

Are we still washing in sections with the bars?
