i don't know napp and honestly don't care, and i'm not saying this with any disrespect or hostility whatsoever).
let's discuss the elephant in the room shall we?
there will be black folk hair.
there will be white folk hair.
i don't care if the "black" hair has (frizzy/nappy) curls the size of a giant grain silo and sat in the middle of their living rooms, folks will never really "get it" for reasons only known to themselves.
so there's a problem right off the bat.
what really needs to be done for folks who get hung up on the numerical/letter typing system (or would like to categorize themselves) is for a person knowledgeable enough in black hair to create a hair typing system specifically geared towards black hair, forget that 4 a/b category because as you see, it does nothing to fully describe the complexities of the many textures of black hair. in one single word, it's retarded, literally.
think about it, 1A-3B is very specific to a certain type of hair and does a pretty good job for most and now we have all afro textured aka black hair lumped into 2 measly categories. it's almost like andre said - ****, black hair ugh - toss them all into these 2 categories making out like it's some secret code for "bad hair".
of course there's LOIS and FIA but i think folks would have a better time (read: fun) with the letter/numerical system.

For me, the better question is what did I call hair types before I joined LHCF. LOL!!!
shoot, i think it was simpler back then. you had straight, wavy, curly, coily and kinky... and it could be thick or thin... you had fine or coarse strands. 'nuff said.![]()
