Recent BC's: What Have You Learned Thus Far?

Well since my BC, I've learned that simple is better. Having a small amount of hair on my head really helped to narrow things down to what my hair really needs instead of wasting time or money on unnecessary products or habits. Also, I appreciate my hair more because I can truly see the journey and reward for all the effort that I put it in. And I now find myself working smarter, not harder. I'm real happy that I did this, and my hair hasn;t felt this way since I was a child. And finally, I find myself more into the natural thing since my BC...meaning that I've entered into trials of using honey, olive oil, ACV, etc instead of being a relaxer slave and using products that I thought I needed in order to maintain that relaxer. My biggest regret was putting on the relaxer when I BC :wallbash:so I could rock the Rihanna or Keisha Cole look, but I'm cool and am just trying to stretch and possibly transition to a less relaxer-dependent state of hair care.

Some will stare.
Some will look away.
Some will open their mouths.
Some will keep them shut.
Some will be disgusted.
Some will be delighted.
Some will be curious.
Some will be indifferent.

I will be...myself.

I have learned that I love my hair this short and I am not going to let it grow out for a while! I have some guys who ain't feeling it so they got voted off the island, which they needed to go for plenty other reasons but that sealed the deal. I have never felt so beautiful and free (3 min in the morning and I'm done). And I have never been this happy with a hair decision ever :)

1. That my "natcha" hair is beautiful.

2. That it doesn't really take long to grow( I am calculating BSL by 3 years or so).

3. My hair is SUPA strong now. My hair has always been thick and strong but it is uber now..I can tie it i knots and it doesn't break.

4. Curly hair needs moisture. All of the time.

5. Gels work well on my natural hair. When I was relaxed; I NEVER used gels.

6. Simple is best.

7. Heat is ok....not everyday but it won't kill my locks if I use it correctly.

8. No one will treat my hair as well as I do.

I had no idea what to do with gel :nono:

When I told my SO that I was experimenting with gel, but it kept making my hair hard he said " Black People use Gel?!"

I learned that my hair grows much faster with relaxer and that it is super strong. and my hair loves water and it looks much shorter when its wet. I also feel like I'm only limited to twist or the Bantu knots but when it gets a bit longer i will do braids and sew in but i plan to stay natural for a while. I like it but my husband doesn't really but he will have to get over it.

  1. My hair loves moisture of any & all kinds.
  2. Castor oil is one of my best friends.
  3. Hemp butter & coconut oil are runner ups for best friends, especially when doing twists.
  4. Weekly deep conditioning really helps.
  5. Since doing the BC, I don't have to detangling sessions anymore!!
  6. I definitely have a case of handinhairitis!

I can comb my hair when its dry:blush::lachen:
Co-washes are heavenly.I love doing a co-wash!!
I wish i had bc'ed during the summer so i could have co-washed more, since its getting colder now,and i'm going to have to slow up on doing them*tears up*

My natural hair can get soft and silky!
I was a minor most of the time iwas natural, and my mom never dc'ed my hair,so im not really sure what soft, silky, natural hair looks like.

I had to re-experiment with my beloved WEN Fig to get love affair results like i did when i was relaxed.*Whew* I'm so glad i have that part down:yep:

MY hair is growing!!

I do not know what my hair type is,and i'm not that sure that i care either.I do know that after a week of dc'ing and co-washing like a maniac,my hair is softer and a bit curlier than right after when i bc'ed.

I have a little scab hair. Most of my hair is soft and moisturized, however in two small areas(both of which never relaxed to my liking so i over did it),the hair is wiry and dry,no matter what.It is even more so noticeable since the rest of my hair is coming along so beautifully*swoon*.Since the areas areso small,it does not bothe me,since i can just cut them eventually, and not have it affect my whole situation upstairs.

I'm loving this, even at the length it is now.

I have not seen one other woman that appears to be natural round hea:look:

People have been staring at my twa like i have a little alien man sitting on my shoulders hypnotizing folk:lachen:
