I really hate the phrase "hair porn"

I can see where the phrase would turn some off if they take it literally. I think in this case though it is just meant as a cute edgy phrase.

Remember when Schuster said that Hillary Clinton was "pimping" out her daughter on the campaign trail? And the Clinton camp got him suspended "indefinitely" from MSNBC because that was such a HORRIBLE thing to say?

Same thing. Schuster was not really implying that Chelsea Clinton was doing actual prostitution. But for some crowds, including his bosses, using that term was over the line.

I get what your saying, that makes sense because we are talking about the U.S secretary of states daughter. I mean thats politics...

But come on, The title ¨HAIR¨ porn in a ¨Hair¨ care forum is not even near the same level..

OMG! We all know it ain't real porn. Now if people was posting nekkid pictures with them doing something lewd with their hair or something then that would be another story. I agree if you don't like the phrase then it would be best if you don't enter those threads or use the term. You have the right to express your opinion but I don't think its going to cause a ban of the word or those types of posts. Its 2011 and a lot phrases are used so loosely now a days it will easily offend someone. Its expected. Some of these comments are tooo funny! LoL

this issue has come up before on here. equally earnestly if i'm remembering correctly. i think OPs distaste for the use of porn to describe an activity she likely engages in (literally drooling at copious amts of hair pics) is sincere.

i might get called out for this, but i'm assuming OP is of the older persuasion and kinda conservative. i can totally see my grandmother genuinely flipping out about it. actually i wouldn't be able to go online and download hair porn in her house. laaaaaad, the scene it would cause! and the lecture that would follow if all she did was read the name of a thread.

First thanks for the scripture references to hair. Absolutely beautiful. And, I appreciate that you expressed how you feel and stated that you didn't mean to offend.

Everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and feelings. I personally would love all references to our hair to be our crown, our glory. God did not make a distinction among hair types. So to all who have been put down about their hair, they can take comfort in knowing that God created all of our hair to be considered beautiful and glorious!

Please do not be discouraged that many will not agree with you. Some really do not think that deep about it and don't want to. Others take no issue with porn period.
Still others will be immediately turned off by any reference to God's word. Just keep in mind 1 Corinthians 2:14. I think I will go to Youtube to watch some hair glory!

I think she is sincere as well. I don't think OP issues pertain to her age but moreso her beliefs.

She has a right to her opinion but the thing is, when people say and use hair porn they are not using it in a sexual manner. I honestly prefer hair inspiration or hair idol but I'm not going to get up in arms over people saying and using it(not saying the OP is doing this). This is 2011. Things are so different now. Its just like that planking trend. Some ppl say its harmless fun, other find it extremely offensive, others think its just plain stupid. Thing/terms are used so loosely and can fit so many ways and flip flopped and this and that. You just can't read/analize every word/activity and phrase now a days cause if you dig deep enough a lot of things were dervived from something negative. You'd end up not saying anything/participating/wearing certain brands of clothes/eating certain foods if you dug that deep. IJS

The first relies on a belief system and the second relies on what one deems sexually pleasing imagery or aesthetically pleasing.

I don't think it is that serious that OP expressed how she felt about a particular term. It is not like she came on here to condemn. Do beautiful terms like "crown" and "glory" really offend? Posting the meaning of "porn" is what it is, the meaning of the word "porn". Maybe some of you should take your own advice about not posting in a thread where you don't like the message. I mean it is one thing to disagree but is it a crime to have a different point of view?
