I mean how important is it to you?

And Why?

To me it is not important, I just want Natural Healthy Hair and I have reached that goal, I know that length will come as long as I take care of my insides as well as my hair. But what is your take?

I am just asking!:D

It's not crucial to me, but it be seriously nice to have. I'm sorry, but I love looking at long 'black' hair, it's a beautiful sight to me. To actually have healthy long hair would be even better!

Not really. I've just taken it up as both a hobby and a challenge. Healthy hair, on the other hand, is pretty important to me. After I reach lower back length, I will probably experiment with it, cut it off (not too short, like just above shoulder) and start another challenge. I'll probably transition to natural and challenge myself with that.

Having Natural healthy hair and taking care of my health is more important to me than achieving long hair, i do like the idea though.

It's a fun hobby for me! I love haircare and I like when I see progress. I love being a PJ and a kitchen chemist lol :weird:

I won't lie......

It's VERY important to me  I mean healthy hair is first on the list, but I've achieved that so now I want the length. I feel like I look better with longer hair. I think it's sexy and feminine... I know tons of girls that look beautiful with short hair... but on me loooonnngggg IS IT! Not crazy lengths though, just BSL or a little more. Plus I've never had that length before and now that I KNOW it's possible I want it.

So yea, it's important !

yessssssssssssssssss i m hair obsessed hahaha thats funny cause for a long time i prefered my hair shorter and i also love changing my hair i was never in the business of growing it. but i heard so many times you dark skinned you cant have long hair and i never thought i could have long hair until i found this board. And the reason its really important to me so i dont have to spend hundreds on weaves every 2 months and can sport my own hair i m curious to see to what lengths it can grow. I dont have a lot of hobbies except music but shopping and taking care of my hair are my too favourite hobbies to which i devote most of my spare time  and if you feel like your hair is getting better now the body has to follow et hop diet for 2006 :lachen:

It's not VERY important for me, but it's be nice to have. Why not try to get it (finally?)

The longest I've even been was a few inches past shoulderlength :(

I want to see how it's be to have bra-stap and waistlength hair. :)

Plus, I do see longer hair as being more feminine. Also, you have more styling options.

Since my hair is natural, it would be big or tall hair as opposed to long.

Having big hair has been added to my Lifelong To Do List.

P

I wouldn't call it important; the word that comes to mind is exciting. I'm excited to have more choices and styles. APL or BSL would be fine. Any longer, for me, would be too long.

Long hair just looks better on me. I also want to see how long I can grow healthy hair. I also think it is sexy and feminine. Not that short hair cannot be sexy.

I want long natural hair because I am hoping it would grow south versus in every other direction. I am hoping the weight of my hair will make it lay down.

ok, ok, ok. i hate to sound conceited or shallow but i love long hair! of course my health is first priority but long hair is sexy to me. i love being able to toss my hair over my shoulder, were it up, down, sideways, whatever!

still trying to get major (bsl) length though

I PREFER HEALTHY, SHINY, RELAXED, LONG HAIR THAT'S ALL MINE.

I WAN'T IT ALL! LONGER HAIR LOOK'S BEST ON ME (I HAVE A LARGE DOME) AND IT MAKES ME FEEL SEXY. ALSO, THE LONGER IT GET'S, THE EASIER IT IS FOR ME TO KEEP UP. I'M NOT ONE FOR HAIRSTYLES. I'M A MOMMIE, A WIFE, AND A FLIGHT ATTENDANT AMONG OTHER THING'S AND I DON'T HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF TIME TO FIDDLE WITH HAIR.

Now that I'm transitioning, long hair is not as important to me, since I know I'm cutting some majority of unknown inches of hair off. I would love to have long curly natural hair that grows north/south. But it seems my hair will grow east/west and will shrink like all get out, so I will have to accomplish challenges other than growing long curly hair.

I will probably be happy if I can have beautiful natural hair that I can style with minimal effort.

not anymore..it definitely used to be..but then i started to think what would i do with all that hair..i think instead of having waist length hair, i'd settle for nice coiled textured natural hair thats mid back- or at least if not natural, i'll settle for that similiar looking texture! thats my ultimate goal!

I went half my life without long hair.

But then when I realized I could grow long it was THE perfect fit for my intense personality.

It is now essential to my drama :D.

ITA with the other ladies...Health, Healthy, shiny hair comes first...It is VERY IMPORTANT to me...I want lonnnnngggg hair b/c I think it is sexy plus to have my family looking  at all my hair would be funny...I think waistlength and beyond is very sexy (though shorter hair are sexy also just not on me :look: )

I would love to have my natural hair be waistlength while it is curly. I think it could happen in 4 or 5 years. I used to have really long hair when I was younger and I think I look a lot better with longer hair.

Of course healthy hair is very important to me . . . :)

Having long hair is pretty important to me as well because it is incredibly easy to have short hair. Anybody can do that. There is just something about long hair-- the discipline, the knowledge, the personal relationship that you have to develop with your hair to achieve it--especially for women of color.

I love to see long hair. Long hair makes me want to look twice at a person. Shorter hair doesn't give me a rise or make me feel any sort of way. It doesn't say, Look at me!!!! Now I prefer long hair- but not if its long, stringy, scraggly, and thin or hideously long (past waistlength). That is not cute to me. I wouldn't want length if it compromised the healthiness of my hair. I know some ladies that want length so much that they don't care what the ends look like to get there-- in that case, length is just not that important to me. I'd take healthy shoulderlength hair anyday over thinning, see-through waistlength hair.

Healthy hair is definitely the #1 priority for me, and I've found that since I'm so focused on the health, the length creeps up on me.
Like other ladies, I believe that I look much better with longer hair...it compliments my face & features better than shorter hair would, IMO.
Besides, it keeps me warm in winter and it's SOOOO fun & versatile.

Growing long hair is important to me because I went for so long without having it. I've got to prove to myself that I can grow long hair too.

No, it isn't. I'm more concerned with having healthy hair. If my hair gets too long, I will not hesistate to cut it. Bra strap length when straightened is good enough for me.

I LOVE this! haha

It is important to me. I feel prettier with longer hair. I also feel like I will have more style options with longer hair.

Healthy hair is equally important to me. I don't want long hair that looks a mess.

Some women feel sexy and feminine with short hair, I'm not one of them, it looks good on me but not as good as long hair, and looking good is mostly confidence right so bring on the loooongg lengths.

gotta agree with kisses, i LOVE synthia's response too. ha!

It's important to have healthy hair first. My hair used to be damaged and bleached. However when i started learning how to take care of it my hair started growing and that was a great perk. Now i love my long hair(even though it can be a bit labor intensive to take care of it). :D

It is super duper important. Life or death, even. :look:

I'm joking, it's a hobby and personal goal. I think it's pretty and feminine and that's just what I want. If I had to cut my hair short, I'd cry. Now that's no joke, I'm really serious
