AFROVEDA - Serious Price Hike!

I ordered two twisted ginger almond butters off of facebook @ 12.50 each. We will see if she actually honors that pricing structure or if my order gets "cancelled" or "ignored". I'm so depressed about this situation because I finally found something that worked for my hair but am now priced out of it due to the drastic price increase in her products. Oh well.... at least if she honors the pricing structure on facebook I will have a little time to find replacement products! I really wished I had reupped last month like I had planned.

I'm so disappointed. I have to think about what to do, now. Afroveda's shea amla was the business because it helped my hair and cured a skin rash I had been battling. I am saddened by my loss. I am going to look up Bee Mine product reviews.

Hey there... long time no speak... well that's my fault I haven't been on the board.
How about I think the AfroVeda products have calmed my dermatitis down too... I still itch but NO WAY as much when I use other products.

What a shame they've raised the prices as high as they have... The good thing that has come from it is that I truly brainstorming making my own products.

read it and it's bs. u can get pounds and pounds of organic shea butter for less than 100 dollars, same with aloe vera gel (gallons and gallons), so i'm not buyin it and i'm done with her line.

i am in the middle of recordin another youtube video specially designed to deciefer her BULL. That letter was pure and utter crap!

FTS I can buy a pound of shea butter for like 12 bucks! And you can get it cheaper if you buy in bulk! I don't believe none of that mess. It's seriously insane. I will never support her and I will be making a video about this insanity. You don't go up from 9-12 bucks to 21-23 bucks due to a sudden increase in raw materials. This recession did not just magically come about in a weeks time. You have to plan on these things.

She tried to get people hooked like a crackhead and buy her product even when it is 20 bucks for 8 ounces! MADNESS!

thank you.
and the only oil she uses that i know she uses that is pricey is red rasp berry oil and thats only in certain products.

AND her stuff is never consistant. i mean why do people have to put their butter in the fridge and stir it up and crap.

I'm not a regular customer I was just sampling a few things to see how they are. But be that as it may, I don't care if she had to walk to the land that has the "raw materials" and pick them up herself, I will never be a customer. Those prices are insane. It's hair stuff. Sorry I'm sure I offended someone here, and I'm loving all things hair myself but that kind of jump is ridiculous for HAIR BUTTER. Please! This is a recession we're living in. Uh, uh, just no.

ETA: Let me correct myself maybe I would pay a lot for a hair butter/cream. I don't use Qhemet cause it doesn't really work for me but a jar of that stuff lasts forever. I am willing to pay $16, possibly even more, cause it will stick around for months. I think it's a good value for your money. I don't know how long this AV lasts, but a $9 price jump is still way over the top.

I did not know that was you, i just watched your other video today, you are too cute. Lmao at the comment about the emu oil. 10's across the board.

LOL. Yup. Silly Youtube wouldn't let me change my username on a 4 year old account before I went natural, lol.

I wonder if Mala figured out it was me causing an uproar because I still aint got my package before the price hike, lol.

Her formulations aren't even consistent! At least MJ's gets their stuff manufactured, and their customer service is pretty good, and you don't have to wait a month for products. And trust, it was VERY hard for me to compliment them just now.

I mean...look at my Curl Define from two different batches...the one on the right was MUCH creamier, which the first one was more like a whipped icing; they even performed differently on my hair. She didn't change the ingredients to the products. Not that shoddy mess and now it's $22? Girl, bye.

WOW!!! Those look like 2 totally separate products! The first one looks like a butter and the other looks like whipped cream or shealoe......I have CONSISTENTLY ordered from OYIN, I have NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN IN THEIR PRODUCTS OR QHEMET for that matter. When you are getting into the product sellin game, the FIRST thing that you should have down is your RECIPE!!!!!!

Wow! That is ridiculous! She must really have a lot of confidence in her products. I've never tried them myself and from most of the reviews on this thread, it wasn't worth it. :nono:

She must have recently bought a new house or car or something! :lachen:Raw ingredients are not THAT expensive especially if you buy in bulk.

Oh well OYIN will definitely be getting my hard earned bux.:yep:

NONE of the ingredients on ANY of the BUTTERS show that any of the ingredients are unrefined or ORGANIC. Anyone can say their product is "organic" but they are really supposed to be CERTIFIED organic (which costs a butt load of money) in order to be the real deal.

ummm Lustrasilk Argan oil conditioner shows organic on the package which means NOTHING.

Ms Afroveda jumped on the overpriced Jessicurl bandwagon

Absolutely....

I am transitioning to natural (I think) and I was just pricing the ingredients to make KimmayTube's leave-in. She is full of crap!

Thanks ladies!

I'm glad people can relate to how pissed I am. I just don't like it when people try and Play Me. Then she aint only playing me, she playin US. Oh hellz no.

I also hate it when people try and treat others like they stupid and don't read and can't understand English. ***** WTF!

***** I can read! I know what the state of this economy is in. Hell it was in bad shape when you started your business in 2008. She needs to take a business and marketing class before she starts a business adventure, and in Today's Economy you can get classes from free. So in my mind you were headed for failure when you started your business during a Recession anyway. I know you didn't think the new President could fix this economy overnight! Lord don't let me get started on politics because i can seriously go on a rant!

Maybe it's my fault because I paid attention in English class and learned how to read in between the lines of BS. I aint the only one that is allergic to BS.

Maybe it's my fault that i have a bad combination of Hood Rat, Southern Belle, and Education because I just can swallow that garbage she feeding us.

From a business standpoint, AfroVeda just placed themselves in an entirely different bracket. There are several new products that surface every so often and we give them a try. In addition, Miss Jessie's charges a minimum of $30 for their butters and styling agents...and people still buy it. Even when the ingredients are not great. I think this is a true test. Basically, we complain when the ingrediants aren't all natural and constantly say that we will not purchase them. Look at Miss Jessie's, they have opened an exclusive salon in one of the highest rent districts in the US and we still buy, buy, buy. Now, here is a small business owner that has given you all natural products and they are cheaper and quite frankly better. I think she just "put her money where her mouth is" (Old country saying) She believes here products are just that good. Do you? So who do you purchase from? Who do you believe? Are any of these products worth $30? You decide.

But now, can you see why all BSS products are so cheap. The name of the game is outprice, outlast, outgame the competitors. Has Miss Jessie's done this? Has AfroVeda made a good move? Are they #1 in the natural hair care industry. I promise you...the remaining lines will all do the same. It's up to you decide how you will care for your natural hair. Online or Beauty Supply Brands.

All I can say is that I will won't say "I'll never purchase those products", 'cuz I'd be lying. I will say that I won't purchase them unless there is a really good sale. For the most part, I can mix my own shea butter, oil, amla, and the such...

I've said it once and I'll say it again...when you pay a certain amount for products this is what you're paying for, granted it's not a cheap line.

You're paying for the lab, the labels, the testing that involves making new products...etc. I'm happy purchasing a product THAT I CAN TRUST, that won't lie about their ingredients, that I know won't make me grow a second set of breasts because they want to hide what they really put in their stuff. Plus, when you pay a higher price for something it's because it's SUPPOSED to last you a long time. I've had jars of qhemet and curl junkie that I used on a regular and with all of my hair it took awhile for me to use it up, why? Because it's formulated where you only need to use a little bit.

But if you're whipping up something I can make in my kitchen, there is no way in hell you should be charging a high ole price. NO WAY IN HELL. Oyin handmade makes all of their stuff and they'd only gone up a couple of dollars ONE TIME since I've been using them in the past 5 years and their stuff takes a bit more leg work to make.

There's a reason you won't see a lot of lines on the ground, for reasons as such.

Anyway I been using coconut oil underneath pantene pro-v for the past week and change and my hair is banging so I don't HAVE to spend $25 on a hair butter. I'm not a slave to a damned thing.

SO just said there' diamond, gold and pixie dust in the hair butters. I told him the price and his eyes got big. We sell 8 oz of scented shea butter and it's only $10. So we KNOW how much ish costs. $22 cause it has some wax and oils in it?? Please.

makeupvixen - girl I just watched your video....dead at 'boo boo da fool'

LMAO. You know folks used to be safe when they DELETED up on customer service but with you ladies on youtube putting folks business out there...shucks soon she'll be issuing a 'Shards of Glass' (I know ya'll seen the commercial) apology.

"It has come to our - I mean my, me, the only individual at the helm of this WHOLE COMPANY, that our customers are not satisfied"

Dead to the person who said she must have bought a new house. All I know is that raw egg smell will do wonders on her new home when products sit on the shelves.

So I'm guess these small making-product-in-the-kitchen businesses want to just hand over their customers to KeraCare, Mizani, and other big names who are swooping into the natural hair product fad now. I just finished watching Charzboss youtube video about the price hike and that is ridiculous! Who told them that was a good idea for business?!

those companies suck buttcheeks. if im going to drop dollas it's going to be on qhemet, kccc, curl junkie, anita grant or oyin. mizani purports a line for natural hair but it's still full of crap. there's drugstore stuff to make your hair feel better than their stuff.

LOL. Very true. I just gonna look for cheapie drug store stuff to get me by until I learn to make my own stuff. I can't afford the big name or the little guy products anymore now. $20 something dollars for 8oz plus shipping for a product that I am probably going to use daily just isn't gonna work. :nono: I'm not about to go broke over my hair.
I hope to see some DIY recipe threads on here soon. *hint hint ladies*
