I did a video showing some alternatives from my stash for the Cocolatte, Curl Define, and PUR Whipped Gelly. Hope this helps someone!

:lachen: makeupvixen and empressri ....

really tho.. its no need for the price hike... anyone of us can go in the kitchen..melt down some shea butter..add some oils..and whip it to a nice consistency... smh.. the totally twisted ginger almond butter is the only thing i used up from her.. everything else is still sitting there.. infact I think I threw away the purr whipped jelly cause it looked funky.. for 21.50 for an 8oz..that joint better make your hair so moist not one split is present... You retain every inch of growth...and thicken ya ends on contact.. smh.. Okay i'm back to watching everyones afroveda rants on yt...

If Mala knows whats good for her business she will bring prices to what they were. Her customers are not dumb dumbs we know the cost of shea and aloe it aint that expensive if you buy in bulk not even in Canada and we have 13%tax on our stuff up here so she aint foolin nobody. I have the ginger almond, shea, curl define and pure whipped jelly. The only two that worked were the curl define and pure whipped jelly. I will only repurchase the curl define from honeyfig to support my local black business and that is only if the consistency is the same whipped cream and white in colour because there was a previous poster who mentioned that she purchased a second jar of curl define and it basically looked like a whole different product and performed differently. I am not worried there are far more better products out there that are cheaper or the same amount in cost that last longer and and perform better she can keep her separated butters and oils in a jar.

That sucks...:nono: The only natural line that I've tried was Jessicurl. After the intial purchase I never bought anything again. When I want natural products I just purchase the raw ingredients myself and make them.

I think the bigger audacity is having 32 oz for 28$ and then eliminating the 32oz and now charging 36.50 for 16 oz!! So ur gonna charge me more for half the size? Will I have magical amnesia? She's a fool.

damn ole girl pizzed off the wrong group of women...lol

ive never purchased her products buttt like everyone has stated..the ingredients in the products are cheap....alll anyone has to do is get some emulsifiers to bond the ingredients together and bam there you have your lattehaircocoawhipped etc etc...

the reasoning she gave was lame...consumers are very smart...my thing is if you wanted to have those prices you shouldve had them from day one...muliple price hikes...wtf---

can anyone think of an alternative for the shampoo bar and the curl define. The shea amla can be replaced, but the curl define and shampoo were pretty good. Suggestions?

:yep::yep:excellent videos. I thank you but my wallet doesn't:look:

I haven't got the chance to try the shampoo bar so I don't know what to compare it to. I have tried some poo bars from Etsy.com sellers like NjoiCreationS, I LOVE her ACV poo bar, I like the Ayurverdic bar, and the coconut bar is ok. I also tried a poo bar from another seller that had Marshmallow Root in it, boy my hair loved it. I think that was one of my very first youtube videos.

I tried Oyin Grand Poo Bar and my hair aint feelin it yet but my hair loves the Oyin Wash.

Didn't get a chance to try the curl define either, I got turn off when it mentioned a fruity smell. What about the Oyin Shine and Define?

This thread has made me laugh out loud. So I have to thank Mala for that. :yep:

I'm sorry for those of you who actually liked, and relied on, Afroveda. They use waaaayyyy too much aloe vera for my liking and AV makes my hair hard (too much protein) so I've only used it once and gave it away to one of my best friends. I am not at all impressed with Afroveda and I wasn't even when I bought the products.

There are many great lines out there that are more deserving of your monies than Afroveda. I'm not even going to touch on Qhemet Biologics because I basically bleed the Amla and Olive Heavy Cream and my love runs too deep to sleep. But a couple of excellent lines that have great customer service and consistently provide good products (i.e. scents that are actually what they're supposed to smell like, and consistency that doesn't change with the batches ) are Darcy's Botanicals and Mozeke.

I think what happened with Afroveda is that she went too big too quickly. I remember when I started using QB. It was over 5 years ago. She started out with a few things, made those things excellent, and then added more. If you look at the site, Qhem honestly doesn't have that much stuff compared to Afroveda. But what she has is time, great customer service, and again, consistently fantastic products.

Same with Darcy's Botanicals. Small company that started out small and mastered a few things before she launched into making bigger, better things. :yep: Both of them have business models that feature fundamentals that Afroveda and other small companies would do well to emulate.

Mozeke is small and I love it because I know I could make it myself, but I don't, and since I don't have time to be a mixtress I know that I'm basically paying for her services. But Mozeke is extremely affordable.

Anyway, there are some great options out there, even some cool etsy shops that might get you what you're looking for. Don't worry about Afroveda and the brandnewness . She played herself.

Heehee, sorry! For the shampoo bar, it's very similar to HairVeda's bar...it's called like Raspberry Shikakai I think...however, I don't really use shampoo bars anymore because I like to mainly poo my scalp, which is hard to do with the bars. I like the JBCO shampoo and Donna Marie's. hth
