thanks mslittlelala! i'll make sure to keep the teas in the fridge!

last night i massaged for 9 min. (yep, i put my cell phone timer on so i can keep track)

hope to do a longer massage tonight....

I massaged 2 days ago with bringraj oil. The only thing I don't like about it is that my scalp feels like ants are crawling on it after a couple of hours.

ok, last night was the longest EVER! (so far)

i massaged my scalp for 1 hour and 32 min.!!!

i just watched tv and alternated arms as they got tired.

i hope to see results as i keep this up, but since i started last nov., my hair has been growing faster than before.

Um...wow! You grow, girl!!

As for me, I'm about to get my massage on while watching a little tv too. Yeah, I doubt if I'll do 1 hour and 32 minutes but, I'll do what I can.

Hope everyone's having a great evening.

while doing a search today, i found an interesting article i'd like to share.

it's from: http://www.cure-for.info/

i'll put it all on here (though it is long) in case you all may find some other tips helpful, but don't forget to check out #1.....! i tried it and it feels good!

Following are some of the less commonly known and yet astonishingly simple hair loss remedies. They are absolutely natural with zero side effects.
  • Rubbing your left and right hand nails with each other is a powerful hair loss solution and causes faster hair growth. It is extremely simple yet very effective. You need to fold both your palms inwards and place the fingernails of both hands against each other. Then with regular swift motions, rub them against each other. There are nerve endings below the nails which are connected to your scalp. This rubbing procedure increases the blood flow to the scalp and helps in strengthening the roots. It not only helps in curbing hair loss, but also leads to regrowth of lost hair in people suffering from baldness or alopecia areata. And if that is not good enough, it also brings back the color naturally thus getting rid of the problem of gray hair. Trust me, it is the best thing you could do for your hair. It is simple and can be done anywhere anytime. Do it for about 5-7 minutes twice a day. It is tried and tested and will definitely show results. You need to be patient though. You will begin to notice a difference in about a month and by the end of 6 months you would probably be successful in ridding yourself of all your hair problems.
  • Coconut milk is another magic potion for your hair. Take a dry coconut and grate it. Grind to a fine paste and then sieve through a soft fine cloth to collect the milk of the coconut. Make around 1-2 cups of milk depending on the length of your hair. Apply the milk on the scalp and hair and leave to dry. Keep it for about 2 hrs and then rinse your hair with normal water (do not apply shampoo). This will leave the pure coconut oil in your hair. Keep the oil for 24 hours and shampoo the following day. This process will make your hair softer and smoother to touch and you will see an almost immediate drastic reduction in your rate of hair loss. For chronic cases of hair loss, do this once a week. Eventually once the problem is resolved completely, you can do this once in 2 or 3 weeks. It helps not only in reducing hair fall but also improves the overall health and texture of hair.
Use your finger tips to gently stimulate the blood vessels on your scalp.
-Add small pieces of a medium sized onion to a cup of rum. Leave for 24 hours. Remove the onion pieces and massage your scalp with the rum. This helps cure hair loss and induces faster hair growth.
-For long, black, thick and shiny hair, mix sesame oil or olive oil in juice of bottle gourd and apply to hair. This helps prevent grey hair and hair fall and is very good for the overall health of hair.
-Mix one cup of brandy and one egg well. Apply this on the scalp and massage gently for some time. Leave on for about a half hour to one hour. Shampoo off. This encourages the growth of hair and is a good hair loss remedy.
-Mix coconut, mustard and castor oil in equal quantities. Apply this on the scalp and massage gently at night at least once a week. Leave overnight. Shampoo in the morning. This is a very nutritious combination for the hair and is a good hair loss treatment.
-Reetha, Amla and Shikakai: You will need to source these three herb powders in equal quantities by weight. Reetha, Amla and Shikakai are well known for their hair nourishment qualities. Mix all three in equal quantities and store in a cool dry place. Once a week, soak about 2 – 3 tablespoons of this powder in water overnight. In the morning, strain the water through a fine cloth and apply on your scalp and hair. Keep for a half hour and then rinse off with plain water. These herbs have astonishing hair rejuvenation qualities. Apart from stopping hair loss, they make the hair lustrous, black, strong and smooth.
-Soak 2 tsp of fenugreek flour overnight in water and then apply the paste on the head. Leave for half an hour. Rinse out with warm water. This helps in reducing dandruff as well as hair loss.
-Boil the leaves of celery and mint for 20 minutes in water. Strain and let it cool. Applying this water on hair everyday makes the roots strong and arrests hair loss and induces hair growth.
-Regular exercise can work wonders to reduce hair loss and induce hair growth. Cardiovascular exercises that get your heart rate to go up increase blood supply to all parts of the body including the scalp. It also helps remove toxins from the body.
-Maintain a regular bowel movement. Constipation should not be allowed to continue and immediate corrective action should be taken. There are natural mild laxatives available that can be taken at bed time. This helps keep the blood clean the reduces toxicity in the body.
-Gently rub coconut oil cultured with hibiscus flowers twice a week into the roots of the hair. This nourishes the roots and makes the hair strong, long and shiny.
-Take fuller’s earth in a bowl, put water in it and mix well. Leave it aside for 2 hours. After 2 hours mix it well again with a spoon and add water to reach a consistency apt for applying on the scalp and hair. Apply the mixture on your scalp and hair and gently massage the scalp for some minutes. Wash hair thoroughly with water. Then leave your hair to dry. This gives a lot of shine and bounce to the hair and makes them very silky to touch.
-Apply a mixture of coconut water with little lemon juice to the hair to prevent them from falling. Leave on for half an hour and then wash as usual.
-Boil one cup of nasturtium leaves in water for 20 minurtes. Let it cool and then strain. Apply this with a cotton swab everyday to the scalp. This helps nourish the hair and cure hair loss.
-Soak dry gooseberries and fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Grind to a paste in the morning. Use it as a shampoo while washing hair. This makes the roots strong and is a good hair loss remedy.
  • Meditation. Now I hardly need to stress on the importance of meditation. Stress and tension is the most common cause of hair loss today. So it would be right to cure the root of the problem. In our fast moving lives, it is essential to take out 15 minutes for ourselves to maintain our peace of mind. It may not be possible for you to meditate for an hour everyday. It isn’t for most people. Here is a practical alternative. Choose a nice clean and quiet corner of your house where nobody would disturb you. Slowly close your eyes and filter out all thoughts from your mind. This may be extremely difficult to achieve at first, but keep persevering. Concentrate on your breath. Feel the air moving across your upper lip. While inhaling, think that you are taking in all the positive energy from the environment and while exhaling, you are removing all the negative energy from your body. Do this for 15 minutes. It is not easy to concentrate for 15 minutes on the first day, start with 5 minutes and slowly build it up over some days. Go beyond 15 minutes if time permits. After the session, open your eyes slowly. You are sure to feel peaceful and calm inside. Everyday practice will relieve you of stress and tension. This will help not only in the cure for hair loss, but also many other problems that are caused by stress. It should be as important a routine as eating and sleeping for us. Though difficult, the results will make you feel it was all worth it.
If you collectively do some or most of the tips described above, it will surely help in reducing your hair loss drastically.

Hi Ladies,

Please count me in on the massaging action!

I am trying to reach full APL by March.

I plan on using the oils listed in bold below. I was really inspired by Sterry's testimony and I pray that I can achieve 1 inch per month.

I will use my mini massager during the day for at least 5-10 minutes, and then at night, I will massage the oils in with my hands for 5 minutes and most likely will again use the massager again to ensure that I fully work the oils in. I will massage nightly for at least 10 minutes.

Hey ladies,

I have finally learned how to post on this site.
wink.gif

Anyway, two months ago I cut 8 inches from my hair. I was left with 4 inches of natural hair.
My decision to cut my hair was not due to the fact that I had suffered any damaged. I just decided that relaxing was not for me.
Anyway, I started to do daily and night scalp massages with rosemary oil, peppermint oil, cedarwood oil, lavender oil and my carriers are jojoba, aloe and Emu (Fantastic)
I have grown two full inches of healthy strong hair in two months.
My hair is soft, silky, smooth, shiny, frizz free. I have porosity, elasticity and strength.

I also follow a strict diet. I am a Fitness trainer so I have to be careful what I consume. I know that my internal care aids in my hair growth as well.

4a/natural
medium texture
growing like crazy

I bought some Hairever and all the oils listed above. I massaged the Hairever for about an hour and then massaged the oils for another hour. I was watching TV and lounging. I used an electric massager the entire time. My scalp feels extra tingly.

ok, last night, i massaged for 16 minutes.....took a break and went back to do another 25.....i'm really trying to make it a nightly habit, but it isn't easy to make these new habits.....whew!

thanks mslittlelala! i'll make sure to keep the teas in the fridge!

last night i massaged for 9 min. (yep, i put my cell phone timer on so i can keep track)

hope to do a longer massage tonight....

You had a wonderful idea to use yr timer on yr phone to track the min. I think I will start that as well! Thanks for that!:yep:

Updated tonight At the beginning of Obama's speach I started massaging my scalp and did it consistently for 45 min. I have to see about investing in a electrical one though! My arms are so tired!

I need to thicken up my edges.

I'm going to use JBCO and coconut oil once a day.
I already shampoo weekly.

Ycj1, GREAT GOING! 45 MINUTES! WOW!
i bet your arms WERE tired, lol!
one good thing about the timer on my phone is that when i get tired, i just stop the stopwatch, take a break, then i press my stopwatch to start when i'm ready again. i did this on and off thing totaling 36 min last night.

CherryPie, your picture is really beautiful!
i have a question: i use bco, and occasionally coco oil, but have to be careful because of their heaviness.
when putting those on your scalp, does it ever weigh your hair down?

thanks!!!

Checking in! Now I've upped my routine and am massaging at least 45min a day! I need to find a hand held electric one, cuz the arms are killing me!

Wow!!! That's a long time. I need to step up my game. Just FYI, I'm also using my Earth Therapeutics gloves to help exfoliate.

Just checking in. I have been massaging for about 6 days now. I use the Hairever daily and every other day, I use the blend of oils. My scalp feels really open.

Hey TallNomad,

Hairever is a great product...just make sure that you follow up with a protein shampoo or condish, as suggested on the bottle's label. The product breaks down old product and sebum on your scalp, but can also weaken your hair if you are not careful. I've been using it almost every other day for the past six weeks. I think I'm gonna start using a castor oil/eo mix on my scalp daily and use Hairever once a week.

Thanks, Kasey! How often are you washing your hair after applying this? I don't wash often so the fact that you said this could weaken one's hair, makes me a bit nervous. I made hold off then. I only wash every 2-4 weeks and it sounds like I probably should be doing it more often then if I'm going to continue using the Hairever, would you agree?

Thanks!

hi ladies!

i can't hardly believe it but i massaged 2 hrs. and 7 minutes last night!

throughout the week, i usually just do anywhere between 10-30 min., but at least once a week, i want to do a really long massage, so it looks like monday's a good night for it.

oh, and ycj1, what i do when my arms get tired is; i either switch and do one arm at a time or i turn of my stopwatch, rest, then start up a few minutes later....while watching a show, you'd be surprised how the time flies! hth...

ok, i had said mondays would be my long haul nite, but this is a first in length of time, for me.

i figured, if i can watch tv to relax&wind down after the long day when i get to bed, i can also put that time to good use for my hair,
so i watched and massaged and stopped the timer to rest and re-started the timer to massage some more when i was rested and switched hands when one arm got tired and all....but at the end, i looked at that timer and 3 hours and 4 minutes had gone by!

that would have been otherwise "useless" time of tv and commercials, but now, i call it my hairgrowing time!

sure, i don't know if that's the ONLY reason why i found out last week that my hair had grown an inch in about 3 weeks (it was 25 days from one measuring session to the other), but i am SURE it had alot to do with it because i NEVER used to do this before.

try it ladies, your hair will thank you! it's so worth it!

This morning before my co-wash, I spritzed my scalp with a rosemary/lavender mixture and covered it with a steamy towel and a shower cap. Oooohhhh...that in itself was a mini spa treatment. My scalp feels great!

checking in! Since I took out my braids this weekend I them again I had to wait a couple of days to get in my scalp and massage. I missed it. But now back on schedule!

checking in, I still gotta add the people who joined while I was having disagreements with my hair but anyway I massaged yesterday. Good idea with the tapping but I might tap too hard depending if I'm itchy lol. Oh my I did a number last friday and now I realize I may start washing once a month or never use coconut oil for a prepoo. I poo'ed with cv bars 2 times and I still felt stuff on my scalp *coconut oil* I should have stopped I washed again and it felt kinda hard. I went on and did my curl junkie dc didn't go as expected never again. I then did twists with myhoneychild type 4. I couldn't sleep because the scent and my scalp was in pain so I hada wash it out. :( Now I've been nursing my scalp back to a healthy balance. I may start a mod cg reggie or just keep what I'm doing and wash once a month. I'm just so use to scrubbing all hard that although I don't need to thanks to massaging more and you ladies advice I still do. I also have to learn to stop getting other stuff when I have a working reggie.

that is great I'm glad you're seeing results and I hope it just gets better

my hair never used to grow, but since i've started diligently massaging my scalp since november 2009, my hair has started growing an inch a month.

for sure, it's not been jump started on the growth ONLY because of my daily massages, but i'm sure it has helped ALOT!

Good post, I'm wondering about coconut, I have some coconut and papaya soap from nubian heritage it's sls free but I wonder if it would do anything good for hair, I've been debating it

Thank you NJoy! i'm trying.....!
