It's what I'll always know for sure, regardless of the underlying meaning of this response, which was not obvious to me.;)

I was feeling the being real especially when it comes to hair and skin thing. I know that some would take the money for whatever reasons. I just hate the hair and skin lies/informercials.

Hmmmm....good one. You know I've looked at many ads and questioned rather or not the model truly uses that product. Like does Kelly Rowland REALLY relax with D&L. They stuff is CRAP! Who knows, but being as addicted to my hairs every move, I think I'd be afraid to let some unknown stylist dump some unknown product into my head. No amount of money would be worth messing up my progress.

If you were asked to be a paid hair model/representative for a well-known company your hair hates or a brand new company you are not familiar with, would you sign on the dotted line and pretend all of your hair growth and success was because of their products?

Hair model=pretty, silent, showing off face and hair...yes.

Representative=Talking up the product, genuine support of the company's claims and results...no.

i would do it..

people are supposed to research products they use anyway.. at least i do. i dont buy something because a model on the box looks good....

Whether or not someone else is a liar and a thief has no bearing on my morality. I answer to God, not man. It states very clearly in the Bible that no liar will enter Heaven. As a matter of fact it also says ALL LIARS will have their place in the lake of fire. I want to stand before my Lord and hear Him say "Well done thou good and faithful servant" not "depart from me you worker of iniquity (evil, deception), I never knew you." I am in marketing so I face this issue every day. Many people make it to the top of the company cheating, lying, and being deceptive. I make the money I make being honest, truthful, a person of integrity that people can trust. What does it profit a man (or in this case woman) if they gain the whole world and lose their soul.? No thank you. I choose to live a life of integrity and as a direct result God blesses everything I put my hand to, not because I am better than anyone else, but because I honor Him in my life, in my thoughts, and in my deeds, and HIS blessings are much better than man, the devil, or I could give me!

Thanks for letting me share.:)

I am so with you on this one kbragg.:) It is unfortunate that even some of the Godless people have a better compass for right and wrong then do some who "claim" to love the Lord! Let your walk match your talk Sisters!

i would never do that...it's dead wrong..... it shows a lack of integrity in my mind. that is the reason why i always tell people who ask me that the major determinant of my hair length/hair growth is definitely genetics, not any particular product or supplement.

There are always honorable ways to make money. I would choose to represent a product I truly believed in rather than mislead someone into using it just for money. This goes for other situations too besides hair.

Couldn't do it because karma is a.. you know what. I just know it would come back and bite me in the butt.

If the product didn't work for me, I wouldn't be able to push it and say "it worked for me!" But I may recommend it to other if I know someone who hair has benefited from it. But it all depends. I'm not lying or shoving anything down peoples throats.

In short, yes, either way. I might even bring race into it and market it straight at blacks, swear to the high heavens it's what I live by and not give a d@mn.

Technically, yes, it's "deception", but guess what? I'm sure there are women who didn't really use Nexxus to solve their hair problems, but you know what? It's helped ME. So in a way, it's balanced because for every person mislead, another will be helped...

Deception is also not telling your friend she looks fat in her favourite dress. Hell for me, oh well.

I couldn't do it. I love sharing my routine and success with anyone who will listen :) To deceive women who are craving healthy, beautiful hair is the worse crime imaginable :p

OMG, No!!!

No. I would not do it. I have to live with myself, and my principles are more important to me than becoming wealthy at any cost. If I had not used the product with positive results, then I could not promote it.

what about the women on relaxer boxes who appear to have a relaxer but they r natural and pressed ? i know that this happens alot. i see that keracare states that their hair models dont wear hair peices but....could i do it ? honestly, i think that i would b one of those natural and pressed ladies on a relaxer box .:lol

I wouldn't do it. A lot of valid points have been made about advertising, and yes, that is the way it works. It would just be a violation of my personal integrity.

I like money as much as the next person but there are a lot of ways to earn it. Resorting to deception would feel like a vote of no confidence in myself.

Wow, you ladies came up with some interesting views. Maybe I should have been more specific with my question. However, at the time I did not think of all of the good points you brought up.

If I had to be on a box of some relaxer, magazine, et cetera I would.

In high school/college Debbie Allen had some "natural" relaxer you could practically eat. I tried it and my hair looked or felt no different. Thank God my hair did not fall out! I would not do an infomercial that I did not believe in.

I remember that...LOL!

If I am promoting a product or service that has a negligible effect, then it will not actually hurt people in anyway: sunglasses, purses, etc... as opposed to alcohol or certain dangerous weight loss pills.

When it comes to products that are causing major breakage and making non-blacks rich, off of our ignorance, than no i would not.

But really? Who are we to judge. Just because a product might be crap to us, doesn't mean that it will be crap to someone else. That's the nature of the business. I LOVE Tresemme products, so whether or not the product works on the model's hair is of no interest to me. If someone purchases products based purely on what the model's hair looks like...that's their business. I look at ingredients, etc... The model, spokesperson, etc... is just for visuals. In today's society people should know better than to go on looks alone...

Nope, I believe in karma too much. I also remember that model "Wanake" who used to sell hair growth products that I felt were a little suspect. I felt that she just did private label and put her face and hair on it to sell. I just believe in karma too much to deceive anyone.

No, that's just not moral and false advertising at that. Especially, as hard as it is to find good products for black hair. I would keep it honest.

I don't think I would. If my hair hated the product I might wind up bald, but then again depending on the amount of money I could buy alot of wigs until my hair grew back. I knew a lady that was on the Dark & Lovely Blonde color box(I think that was the color). She said that they had to put that stuff in her hair twice to get the color right. Her hair was dry after that. So I think some companies do make the models use the products at least when they take advertisement pics. The models might not use the products on their own.
