For me it has been switching from SE to ORS Lye Relaxer have given me a much better relaxer experience. I am five weeks post and I can still easily roller set my hair, it's not dry or shedding a lot.

PRODUCT --> COCONUT OIL!

I tried to be conservative after joining the forum. didn't want to splurge on too many products/bandwagons. It took me 1.5 years to final pick up some coconut oil. Big REGRET! It truly is amazing!

PRACTICE --> No more relaxers

After transitioning and using coconut I really believe I can now grow to my waist!!!!!

Aphogee 2 min reconstructor!

Incorporating this light protien into my reggie weekly has given my hair the strength it needed to finally retain length! :)

Fun topic! Especially since I'm OBSESSED with conditioners. :look:

I would say three products I used turned my hair around. I don't use them anymore because I'm a PJ but I will probably return to this one when I'm done my stash since I've bought it more than once before I switched and it was my hair-savior.

- Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise: This made my hair extremely soft and put the elasticity back into my hair which allowed me to retain my ends. It's thick and really makes my hair feel like I've restored it's moisture-protein balance especially after repeated use. It was the first product I researched and used when I got excited about my HHJ. It's pure love. :lick:

I know you said one but I can't name just one.

Products:
Coconut Oil
S-Curl Moisturizer
Aphogee Products
VO5-Moisturemilk for cowashing
NTM Daily Condish

Appliance:
My steamer---it has turned my hair around.

Practice:
Stretching relaxers

My hair is the longest and thickest it has ever been in my adult life.

AO GBP because my natural hair loves protein and i can use this light protein conditioner several times a week without any problems.

karens body beautiful hair milk. this stuff works for me all year around and never lets me down. this is the best leave in conditioner i have ever tried and i love it.

when i was relaxed it was coconut oil and joico k pack that my hair loved and thrived on.

That nasty, terrible, stinky poo Aphogee 2 step protein treatment. My hair loves that stuff!

Turned my moisture/protein balance around and I haven't looked back.

Technique was key over product for my hair.

Stretching Relaxer
Co-washing
Baggie Method
Deep Conditioning Twice a Week
Joico K-pak Line
Elucence MB Shampoo/Conditioner

For Me: 1 Product and 1 Technique:grin:

Product:
Roux Porosity Control *I had overly 'porous' hair

Technique:
Using a Light/Med Reconstructor every Wash-Day *totally strengthened my weak, fragile hair*

I had the technique right long before I started my healthy hair journey. Also, going to the hair salon most of my life helped, but what put the icing on the cake was when I discovered Verifen Complex--which was years before I discovered Long Hair Care Forum. I just needed the right products, then everything fell in place.

Using a water-based moisturizer.

I used unrefined shea butter for the longest time. Once I stopped, I noticed less breakage. My hair feels softer and stronger.

Some of my favorites:
S-curl activator moisturizer
Organic Root Stimulator Carrot Oil
Care Free Curl Gold Instant Activator
Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil

Seamless combs, the juice, cowashing, protien, and cheapie conditioners. I also learned less is more. I never realized that cowashing and Jheri Juice would do wonders for keeping my usually dry curls moisturized. And all I needed to get my curls back popping was a good old protien treatment.

The first feel-good staple I found was the modified original Mane 'n Tail conditioner. I say modified original because the Cathy Howse MnT recipe calls for the original conditioner plus coconut, olive, and peppermint/or rosemary oils.

Nexxus Humectress Conditioner.

It wasn't until I started using this stuff that I really believed that someday, I'd have hair to my hips.

ORS creamy aloe shampoo!!! :love4:It removes mineral buildup yet it's gentle on my hair.

I have very hard water; like 'boil water in a pot and there is a noticeable white calcium film when you pour out the water' type of hard :nono: It was making my hair hard, literally. I was so fustrated , I gave up on growing my hair and was rockin' a short cut for most of 2008-early 09.

This shampoo completely changed my hair game. Even with the 2x weekly DC's and chelating 2x a month with other 'strong' chelating poos, my hair still had a few splits and a little breakage. And my hair was STILL hard and not elastic at all. Plus, those poos made my hair feel stripped, even if I did a pre-treatment and followed up with a moisturizing poo.

I realised that my water is so hard, I needed a mild chelating poo I could use every wash. I have not found a single split end since growing out my hair last March. My hair has become softer and so much more elastic. I have only found a grand total of three broken hairs during this time as well. All found within the last month which I think are due to this long stretch (trust me I am obessed with searching for splits and broken hairs)

Sorry I know I'm gushing, but my this was such a breakthrough for me.

Hard water is a ...Yea, I know what you mean. The water on campus is very hard, and I didn't pay attention it but I noticed my hair was always feeling rough. Always. I used a swimmers shampoo (that says it removes mineral buildup), didn't even DC, just used herbal essences as an instant and left a ton in for a puff. While I realize using the HE probably helped, my hair feels SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....OOOO much better. Oh my goodness, I'm hoping it's the shampoo removing the deposits. Will be using it again next week.

The Shescentit line!!! In all of my pjism, I never really believed that I could find one line that could give my hair everything it needs . Cowashing (something I've done religiously since going natural) with the Super Soft Honey Conditioning Rinse and using the Jojoba Hair Milk and Seyani hair butter took my hair
to a
whole
'notha
level
:lachen:
My hair was so good in February in particular that I kept wearing it naked!!! It was soooo soft and moisturized just by cowashing with that condish :lick:. Also my Goody's Jojoba Brush is the only detangling tool I need. I love love love that thing.

Lye relaxer! It's main retaining growth and keeping healthy hair so much easier (so long as I don't abuse heat) I would not have been able to grow my hair without out it!
