What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the time?

I was ready to agree until you said "relax heads don't have that option" OH really? LOL twist outs, braidsouts, bantu knot outs, french braids, cornrows, we have plenty of options if we chose to have big hair. I'm not into big hair. I think it looks awful on me and I don't feel that style suits me at all. Besides, even relaxed my hair is NOT bone straight and is nothing like "white people's hair".

Relaxed braidouts and twistouts do not look like natural ones, at least not in my experience.

I disagree. If you wear your hair straight 99% of the time you don't have to use heat every other day to do so. So it is an "assumption" of hers that this is the case when really she is uninformed or talking of her experience only. Heat straightened naturals like former member (or is she here still) Pink Skates, only straighten their hair every 2-3 weeks. They tie their edges during work out and wrap the hair until it dries and KIM. It is feasible to have your hair straight and only use head 2 times in a month and a half to two months time and keep it on a minimal heat.

If she doesn't want to hear that there are other ways to do this without excessive heat then oh well...Then it's really not a question where she can learn something. It's an assumption.

That still didnt answer her question. She wanted personal reasons to why naturals keep their hair straight and only a few women really answered her question.

This is me!!! My skin can't take the chemicals at all.

Your stanning for the negativity of the OP so hard. What are you getting out of this? Some satisfaction of making the world a better place? Are you her sister, cousin, aunt, babysitter, girlfriend? Whats really the deal?

Well... as much as I would really like to find out, I must go to work. Intanetz you have entertained me once again. 'Tis all. :lachen:

That wasn't her question in the OP though. She wanted to know why straight haired naturals didn't just relax their hair.

A mild review of my second post:
If a person has a hair argument and is trying settle it, they would go here. If that person is still angry when they ask the question it would ACCIDENTALLY come out as an "angry post". If ppl read it and notices the hostility they should assume its because of an unsettled argument instead of thinking the question is just to make ppl mad.

So when people post questions/statements that have a negative 'tone'....I must assume it is because of some argument that they may or may not have had?!

The original post mentioned the fact they she and her friend BOTH were wondering why naturals who wear their hair straight 99% of the time don't 'just relax'. There was no argument.

You are making a LOT of assumptions yourself i.e. that there was even a supposed argument (that never occurred based on the OP), that subsequently caused the OP's tone to be 'angry'.

Reading comprehension is fundamental.

Re: What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the ti

^Thank you.
OP stays trying to come for someone regarding what THEY choose to do to THEIR hair. True everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone is free to post whatever they want but why is a woman so concerned about another woman's hair. Now that- I will never understand. It seems like because she failed in her own transition she comes after naturals who choose to wear their hair in straight styles. You would think that OP is natural herself but she is not and puts herself on a pedastool because she relaxes twice a year. Normally I choose to ignore people like that but no editing this time....
And there you have it...

From post #14 and on and on and on.

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?p=16670617#post16670617

@ the bold. it seems like this trend began once she ended her transition. there was another thread she did the same thing in too.

Thinning can also be a reason not to relax. I'm not natural anymore because I like the way straight hair looks on me better but my hair was waaayyyy thicker when I straightened when I was natural vs straightening my relaxed hair. My hair is fine so using heat every few weeks to get my natural hair straight was def not an option.

Eta roller settin was not an option either cuz I'm horrible at it lol

Re: What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the ti

Just wanted to say before this is locked, that my natural straightened hair has more body, swang and health than my relaxed hair ever did. I could use protein treatments, thickening/volumizing conditioners, Megatek, JBCO, reconstructors, henna, "texlaxing", etc, but my relaxed hair NEVER had the body that my straight natural hair does. And I took very good care of my relaxed hair too, the chemicals were just too harsh and I stayed around shoulder length no matter what I did.

Oh really...she really don't have to hate on those who are natural that figured out their hair in its natural state. Don't she know she got her own head of hair to figure out?

Re: What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the ti

Look I never saw the first post but nornally if a post is written offensively (sp.) Its because someone wanted to get a second opinion on a personal disagreement with someone offline. But ppl online taking offense take it too far.

Posts written in anger can try to be neutral but the side their on shows more and thats not done to be malicious it just happens.

So just forget HOW the question is asked next time and just answer it. Please no snarky comments!!!! It makes everything go bad.

For someone who didn't see the first post....how are you so sure of the exact wording/phrasing of the question?? I can tell you that's NOT what the OP was asking.

Reading comprehension isnt my problem hunny I get As in that subject.

Like I said (if you bothered to read) I didnt see the first post but I hate to think that someone would start a post to start a war. I like to think that everyone here has a good reason to ask questions and ask them in whatever tone it came from.

If its an angry tone why cant you assume that it started from an argument. Its better than thinking they just want to start trouble.

Re: What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the ti

i honestly can do anything with my hair. i don't know about others ..but being relaxed has not limited my styling options in any way!!!!!
if i wanted to do the big and fluffy i can but i dont. i even like my braidouts to look flat. not a volume woman. my preference..but i darn sure have all the options of whatever i want.

Re: What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the ti

sckri23 why go hard for something you don't have complete information on? The original post sets the tone for a thread, any thread, and your girl Pinksunshine edited that original post for a reason. She could have said what she had to say about closing the thread she don't care in the thread like she said everything else but she edited her original post and you really don't need back someone up that doesn't even stand behind what they started.

sckri23 are you the person she mentioned in the original post? Were the two of you having this discussion before she posted? Do you know something we don't know?

Just asking.

What if I asked why do ppl think if your big you can fight?

Then in angry details: me and my friend was talkin. Why big ppl gotta be the fighters?? (Lol at teen-ish grammer)

My responses would be: you jokin on ppl because of their size; thats ignorant to put a label on somebody thats big. Yadda yadda yadda.

But not knowing the whole story ppl take things outta context even with details. So why cant I NOT think the worse without details?? Thats all im sayin.

Well, I reported her because pretty much everything she added to this thread was nonsense.

Re: What is the point of being natural if you prefer your hair straight 99% of the ti

I actually thought she was asking a legit question but things sure did go bad.

I have a friend who has no relaxer and will not get caught leaving the house with her hair in it's natural state, yet talks **** about anyone with a relaxer. WTF? She'll tell you in a heartbeat that her hair is too nappy to wear. And actually she's not my friend, she's an associate.

The OP usually comes across really nice. Maybe she's just having a bad day.
