Hi Ladies, just wondering what you have learned from this site, that has helped you achieve healthy hair. I am not talking about length of hair, just healthy hair.
Methods
Regimens
etc

TIA

Taking my multi-vitamin daily

Drinking a lot of water

Eating healthfully

Stretching my relaxers to once or twice per year

Those are the only things that I think have actually contributed to the actual health of my hair, the products help me retain length in addition to healthy hair.

  • Moisturising and sealing daily (especially my ends)
  • Baggying (helps my hair retain moisture)
  • Deep conditioning
  • Handling my hair more gently, less manipulation, minimal combing
  • Protective styling (hiding my hair with wigs)
  • Light protein treatments
  • Essential Oils
  • Ayurveda
  • Transitioning (relaxing made my hair thin, weak and brittle)
  • Vitamins and supplements

I would have to say....

Co-washing, moisturizing and sealing everyday and every night with my evvo/evco mix.

I've also become a stretcher (8-12 weeks is good for me).

Using heat as less as possible.....once a month.

And keeping my ends dusted every 3 to 4 months.:yep:

Also....deep conditioning every single weekend.....its like a party for my hair! lol:dance7:

I flatironed the other day and i've been keeping it wrapped over the weekend and its so strong and long! I haven't had hair this long since i was 8! lol

co-washing
deep conditioning/pre-pooing atleast 2x a week
Protein/moisture balance (more on the moisture side)
stretching my relaxers to over 10 weeks
no direct heat, and air-drying 99% of the time!
using more natural products
baggie method
protecting my ends 75% of the time (trying for 90% for the summer)

No direct heat
moisture/DCing
regular doses of light protein
being gentle with my hair :yep:
not stressing my hair out and leaving it alone a lot of the time

  • I stuck to one kind of conditioner (Organix, and sometimes GF Strength & Repair) and used them consistently after finding out what made my hair look and feel the best.
  • I stopped shampooing everytime I washed, but rather only when I had buildup. I traded my shampoo for diluted peppermint Castile soap
  • I cowashed most of the time and airdried a lot
  • I always used my Denman brush to detangle my wet hair after washing.
  • I remained consistent in how I blowdried and straightened my hair so that I wouldn't suffer any breakage or heat damage
After about 5-6 months of that my hair is thick, shiny, and it swings around when I walk, plus my ends stayed a lot more blunt in between trims and cuts. My hair isn't that long or anything, but I think that now that I have everything under control it can grow out without too many problems..
