I'm ten weeks post relaxer today, I'm going for sixteen weeks which will make my next touch up April 9th therebouts. I have new growth and I'm either shedding like crazy ot getting a lot of breakage. I just hope I can last 16 weeks.

I'm too wimpy to join this challenge, but I aspire to stretching out status.

It's been 5 weeks since my touchup in January. I wash my hair (braided in 2 sections) with L'Anza Strait Line shampoo and I condition it (still briaded) under the bonnet dryer for 60 minutes with L'Anza Strait Line conditioner. I'm able to comb it with less hassle because the braids prevent tangling of the already relaxed hair. The L'Anza smooths the new growth very well such that I can comb through that too. My bun is not giving me helmet head yet!

Next wash I'll probably do a protein conditioner between the LSL shampoo and conditioner.

...bumping for Updates! I'm a little late with it this month. HOw is everyone doing with this? As for myself, I have a decen amount of newgrowth. I actually thought that my hair wasn't growing , but I was wrong. I have some new photos, but I have to make another album, as I have taken down my website.

Can't wait to hear how everyone else is doing with this! Happy hair growing to you all!

MY last relaxer was on february 27th-
I have two inches of new growth. I can't comb my hair anymore. This lady at work actually ask me if I was going natural.(how rude)!
I'm getting braids this weekend si I'll stretch it out till June-

My last relaxer was Dec. 26. I initially said I would wait until May to get another relaxer. I think I will try to wait until August or December for my next relaxer.

bumping for updates!

I am past my 4 month mark now. I don't plan on relaxing this summer, so I will be treating my hair as though I am transitioning. My waves are really cute, so who knows what I'll do. More than likely though, I iwll be relaxing. I made my own pomade type of product, and that has been helping with the "frizzies". How are you ladies doing?

I was able to stretch my relaxer out for so long that I decided to transition last month!

I just need to lay off of playing in my hair and brushing so much.

I am in week 13 of post relaxer. I will probably relax at 15 weeks. Cornrows is helping me through. I will probably only relax once more this year. That will put me at only relaxing 3 times in a year! Never thought I could do it!

i am almost 11 weeks post relaxer, i plan on relaxing at 16 weeks, but depending on how my hair is when i take out my braids, i just might decide to transition.

I relaxed my hair at 13 weeks this time instead of 16 weeks.
I decided to relax my own hair (very nervous) it turn out
great I use Profectiv relaxer for regular hair.
I was tired of stylist combing relaxer thru my hair after working so hard to thicken my hair.

Labett,
This is off topic, but I see that you relaxed your own hair for the first time. I am glad that you had good results. Do you have any tips? I am also tired of my hairdresser combing thru and I am ready to do it myself (not to mention that I have moved away from her anyway). Bravo to you! Did you get help?

I would like to stretch my relaxer from every 6 weeks to every 12 weeks! Then increase accordingly.

Hmmmmmm, I think I'm caving in soon

. I think I am able to go 5 months without a touch-up and that's it. I'm trying to hold off. Tomorrow will be 5 months exactly for me.

I am going on month 4. It's getting harder 'cause I usually relax at this point.

How long are you going to try to last?

Enquiring minds want to know

! But yes, it's getting hard. I think the shedding is getting worse. I don't want to deal with High Maintanence hair this summer!

I am trying to last for 6 months! I know what you mean about high maintanence hair. I wish I could get back to my bantu sets and daily co washes. It was so easy then.

Thank You Girl.
No I did not get help I parted my hair into 4 sections and started at the back then toward the front.
I think the key was using the back of a comb to smooth out relaxer.I relaxed my hairline and nape area last.
I left relaxer on for 10 mins I dont want my hair bone straight. Big difference not combing it thru the hair.

I am at week 11 of 16, I just took my braids out and I noticed a lot of growth! My hair was bouncy, shiny, and damage free when I took them out. I now have 3 staple products. Nexxus Therappe, Keraphix, and Humectress. Gotta love it! I'm trying to decide between.. like ringlets/strawset or to get braids again next week.

I have not been able to go past 12 weeks. When I reach week 11 my hair starts to shed and it makes me nervous. I have tried braid (that I do myself), braidout and bantu knots and condition wash every other day but it still sheds. What do you do to stop the shedding???

I have 4b hair and the ONLY way (so far) I can go beyond 10 weeks post relaxer without massive breakage is to put my hair in braids where I do not have to fool with it for weeks at a time. I wash and condition my braids once a week and that's pretty much it until I either rebraid or get a touchup.

I tried going up to 12 weeks post relaxer WITHOUT a protective style and I just couldn't do it because every time I wash, it was scary how much hair would come out and I just gave up . . .10 weeks is now my standard touchup period and if I want to go longer, I get braids for the duration . . .

By the time I'm finally out of braids and get a touch up (I'm not sure if I'll get a touch up this summer...I may just get cornrows), I'll be 5 months post relaxer. I'm not too excited, I didn't have too much growth before the braids...My hair will spend the summer playing catch up.

I am now at wk 14. I aim to re-touch at about 20wks. I will also be putting my hair in cornrows (extensions) next Sunday (at the advice of my hairdresser)and I will keep them in for 4-6wks.

I love this site! I too want to stretch out my relaxers. Just gave myselft a touchup after 8 weeks. I will definetly stretch this one out longer though.

I'm sure I've missed this in an earlier post, but can someone please tell me what this SURGE is? I can't figure out if it is a supplement or some type of hair product. All I know is I want some from the reviews posted on this board.

deltashay, go to the website in the banner on top of this board. It will tell you all about surge. They use the spray for increased quick growth. Be careful though. You should do a search on some of the harmful affects some have had using this product.

Labett, thanks for replying to my question about relaxing your own hair. I hope that my experience is as successful as yours.

Okay you can forget my last post. I just saw the link for Surge at the top of the page. I feel so silly. Anyway I think I'm gonna order some products. Wish me luck on stretching out my relaxer.

How do you ladies do it!? I'm berely 6 weeks post relaxer and my scalp is itching like i dunno what and my new growth feels like weeds. I'm trying to stretch this relaxer out for 12 weeks. I can't believe I have another 6 weeks to go.
