Hey everyone!
I'm new to the LHCF. Not as a viewer but as a member. I love my hair and like to wash and go ... especially in the summer months, but I have one dilemma....

After I've washed my hair ... I never know what t put on my hair to keep it moisturized throughout the day. I used to use Garnier's Curl Cream mixed with a little olive oil ... but the curl cream has been discontinued. I've tried Cantu's Shea Butter Leave-In conditioner and although it does the job, I feel like I should keep it in my pocketbook and reapply every 4 hours or so. I've tried Palmer's Olive Oil Hair Milk...but as soon as the product dries ... I look like a Dr. Miracles' commerical actress ... fried, dyed and blowdried.

Any tips on all day moisturizes that wont: 1. leave my hair hard & stiff and 2. need to be reapplied religiously . I'm in my 3rd month of transitioning ... if that counts for anyting. lol

First I want to say welcome!! :) Second, I love your siggy pics. Very cute. Third, for me, the best moisturizer that I found to keep my hair moisturized all day is Africa's Best Liquid Hair Mayo.

Plus, applying oil to my hair (esp. the ends) after putting on my leave-in further seals the moisture in. I really like extra virgin coconut oil.

Welcome to the board and much continued success on your transition!

I used to love the Garnier Curl cream as well but I have a concoction of water, a little bit each of different leave ins underneath the cabinet (Rusk Smoother, Lacio Lacio), some regular hair conditioner, some of that s-curl stuff, and a little aloe vera gel. I put this in a spray bottle and use it on my hair and seal it with coconut oil. This works for me in the summer but not so much in the winter because I can't put the coconut oil on my hair just as I run out the door. The winter air hardens it. Soooooooo, a really good friend of mine suggested the Seyani Butter from shescentit.com

I ordered it and it came in on yesterday. Based on her review, it will keep your hair nice and moisturized. And I can see why because in addition to the whipped shea butter, it also has some really good oils and things in it. I did a braid out and before I braided each section, I was sure to moisturize the wet hair with the butter. The braidout is drying right now and I will take it down tomorrow. The test will be whether my hair is still moisturized by the end of the day. I am pretty certain it will be simply the way it even went on my hair.

I know what I am talking about is a braidout and you are talking about a wash and go, but I already tested it. (I have a little section at the very nape that I cut and it's about 5 inches. Instead of plaiting it up, I put the butter on it and left it alone. It has dried and it is really nice, soft, shiny and moisturized.) The Seyani Butter is a keeper for me and I had already envisioned myself going through several bottles during the summer as I perfect my wash and go.

Hope this helps. (there are quite a few threads on the Seyani Hair Butter and also on Shescentit.com)

Thanks for the tips, ladies. You all are fueling the product junkie in me. I"m on Shescentit.com already ... and am overwhelmed by the scent choices. lol.

Like I said though, still new to some of these things. Learning now about differences between moisturizers and sealants...I"ll get there eventually...
