Bumping again for updates ... I'm a little late with it this month. How is every and their newgrowth doing?

I just gave myself a touch-up ... exactly 4 Months. I made it! I wonder if I can go longer next time. I had a lot of newgrowth. I've been using the Patene Winter Rescue Intensive Warming Wrap. My hair really likes that.

I am 9 wks post touch-up. This is the longest I have ever gone. I was going to try for 10 wks but since I purchase unrefined coconut oil and GPB, I am going to try for 12 wks but I did get scared at 5-6 wks mark b/c my new growth was unmanageable.

I will be at 11 weeks on Saturday when I get my touchup. I was shooting for 12 but I have some events to attend on the weekend.

I'm on week 11. Not sure how long I'm gonna go. Last touch up I went 4 months. This time around, I'm just listening to my hair. It's doing GREAT at the moment. Besides having to trim, trim from overprocessing by a stylist, I feel really comfortable with where I'm at right now. My new growth is very manageable and I'm not getting much shedding or breakage at all. I'm utterly surprised because I have a TON of new grwoth already (supplements). I totally sttribute this manageability to MSM and my new found top of the line DB and Kenra line. Along with Carol's Daughter products and coconut oil. We'll see how I feel this same time next month

Ballet Bun, how was your touch up after 4 months? How much growth did you get? Congrats on stretching it out that long. It can be challenging.

Lunalight, we must've touched up the exact same day in December, because Saturday will make 11 weeks for me too

Joining this challenge. Just did my touch up .ast week. So I am aiming for June but hoping to make it to the six months mark, August 18. My last touch up was at 14 weeks. My plan is, when the new growth gets too much I shall resort to braids.

Iv'e been on the challenge since my last relaxer in December. My next is in may. Right now...my hair is doing ok...I'm in battle with some split ends...do for a trim next month

I think it's been 7 or 8 weeks for me now.

Ballet bun, I've been using the Patene Winter Rescue Intensive Warming Wrap too. It's GREAT!
I will be at 17 weeks on Monday when I get my touchup.
This is the longest I have ever gone.

Hiza you AND your hair are drop dead gorgeous

. Your hair has grown very fast. What's your regime and what products do you use to get your hair looking so silky?

I'm in my 21st week right now, and I'm dropping out of the challenge. But not because I want to relax; on the contrary, I'm transitioning. Ballet_Bun, thanks for coming up with the challenge. It gave me the motivation to have a test run to see whether I was ready or not to go natural again, and sure enough, I am.

So far, going without the relaxer has been very easy; I still use the same products and the same regimen. I have no breakage at the line of demarcation between my two textures; as a matter of fact, both textures coexist very amicably. My hair is not prone to tangling, whether wet or dry, as long as I use products that my hair likes, so combing is no problem. I do roller sets, my trade mark bun, the occasional braid out, and up dos with my favourite hair accessories - banana clips and claw clips.

I don't obsess as much about protecting my relaxed ends, since they have to go anyway, so lately I've found myself wearing my hair down or in ponytails more often, which I hardly ever did before. And I'm trimming more, but that's about it.

I enjoyed being on the challenge very much. Knowing that there were so many other ladies doing the same thing I was made a great deal of difference. Thank you so much, and happy stretching out relaxers to everyone.

Joining the challenge also, my last retouch was on 2/6/04, I usually retouch every 6-7 weeks, yes I know, I KNOW!!

Going longer than that w/my hair? That's the epitome of a challenge!

This is my 20th week and I am getting a retouch tomorrow. Earlier this week, I flat ironed my hair after having my hair in braids for nearly 2 months and I am actually seeing some growth.

When you state how long it has been since your last relaxer can you also state what type of hair styles you have been wearing?

I'm at 11 weeks. I've mostly been wearing buns, some braidouts, had a blow out one time. I plan to roller set this weekend. I have mega growth and need to figure out a style to continue to stretch out my relaxer becuase these buns just aint doing it anymore. I'm considering getting a weave put in for 3 months. This will be my first time ever having a weave. I'm very hesitant about braids becuase of the hassle taking them out. Any other suggestions for styles to stretch out your relaxer?

It's been 5 months for me. I think I'm holding out until May or June. I definitely could not have done it without the frequent conditioner washes, hot oil treatments, and deep conditioning treatments, as well as all the useful advise from you ladies. I'm in the process of deciding whether or not I should get braids for the remaining months, considering the amount of breakage I usually have when removing them. In any case, it has been difficult with my 4a/b hair, but my will and determination has played a tremendous role. Good luck, ladies!

Hello December was the lasttime I got a touch-up so, thats about 2 months so far, My goal is 3 months. I've been surging and still washing once a week and that seems to be going well.

i stretched out mine to 14 weeks... my hair has not been this long since 8th grade. i do thank all the ladies who suggested that I stretch out my relaxer to just another month. stuff that helped me stretch: CD Some of MMagic, ORS Lock n Twist Gel, Africa's Best Tee Tree Gro, Vaseline, a tightly worn scarf, and a hat "a la cancer patient"

I'm still stretching. I don't know when I'm relaxing though. When I was pregnant with my daughter I got a relaxer and I guess because my pH level changed, it just didn't take. And I do not want to relax in vain. So, I don't know whether to do it in a couple of weeks or wait until after my 20th week. That seems to be the week that just about anything goes in terms of development of the child. They just get bigger from that point. Maybe my pH levels will normalize some. Anyway, if I go another 9 1/2 weeks I believe that will be 40 weeks for me. I'm not real sure. I lost count. My last relaxer date is in my signature.

And I keep waffling about whether I'm going to transition or not. I have a co-worker who wants me to relax and THEN transition so she can see how long it is. She said she's never been able to see anyone's new growth before. She swears there is at least 6 inches in there. With all the shrinkage, I can only see 3 but stretched out it is about 4-7 inches depending on which section of hair it is.

And I wear my hair in a ponytail with the ends tucked under the scrunchie. My "fake" bun as I call it.

I would like to join the challenge. Right now I am 3 weeks post relaxer. Before I got this last touchup on 2/6, I went 14 weeks and that is the longest I have ever gone. I would like to make 12-14 weeks my goal each time. I used Wild Growth Oil and Mango Butter. I realized that I have to change my hair regimen according to how much new growth I have. I wash my hair 2-4 times a week when I have a lot of new growth and do more hot oil treatments. I plan on trying the coconut milk as well!

I'm 7.5 months post relaxer and still wearing my nubian twist. The braids have really helped me with the strain of newgrowth. I've had my braids in for about 1.5months and I can see a lot of newgrowth. I think I'll relax one month after I take the braids out and that should put me at 11months post relaxer....I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE RESULTS!!

I want to join! The longest I stretched was 16 weeks. Last time I only went to 12 weeks. I need to strech out for at least 20 weeks because I am applying a corrective relaxer next time around. I am 6 weeks now

Hi
wave.gif

I also wanna join. My last relaxer was approx 10wks ago (around 16 Dec 03). My goal is to retouch around 6 April 04. I started doing the legendary conditioner washes last week and wearing my hair in a bun - so far so good.

Well melodee ...

We have to have something here to protect our hair from the cold weather in this "COLD PILE OF ROCKS THEY CALL NORWAY."

... lol! But Hiza is right, it's really nice!

Hei Hiza ... Liker du Patene Winter Rescue Balsam ? Jeg var ikke imponert!

I think I'm already in - my last relaxer was 12/23 and I've been doing braid outs weekly. I just started the conditioner washes so hopefully that will help. I have been typically getting relaxers roughly every 15 weeks - i might stretch it out to 17-18 weeks this time (trying to time it to look cute for my bday in Sept). I really think it helps - glad to know that I am not alone in this.

I am still STRETCHING my last relaxer was 12/27/03.
I dont want to relax until April 1st co washes and castor oil,Roothealth is helping keep new growth in control.
I got pretty good growth with surge and hair is definitely stronger.

week #43 of me, i have no problem with the two textures, still unsure when or if i want to relax my hair. i may give it another year before i make a decision.

in abotu 4 months what is the average length that you all get? because I am 8 weeks post relaxer and some people say their hair is unmanagable and im wondering if may hair is growing soo slow, please give me some advice!!! Thanks
