UPA/Sally's issue and possible problem solver!!!

it seems like the exact same product. how are they different? why buy the upa clip instead of the mane clip?

Try going back a page or two, HAIRapy explains the differeces between the two with pics. She also has additional pics in her fotki. There's really no comparison, UPA Clip is on a whole other level and Mane Clip, poor thing, doesn't even come close.

Well I can explain both since I purchased both- pics are in my fotki of both too. The Mane clip is a barrette that you can place track hair onto. You have to also wrap about 10 inches of hair around your real ponytail- before you put the barrette onto your ponytail- in order for it to be truely undetectable (per the Mane Clip directions), because the hair in the ponytail will be sitting on top of your ponytail- not around it. I like to use the Mane clip for buns. The MAJOR difference between the two is that for a truely 2 second hairdo, the UPA comes out on top. You're actually just closing a barrette around your hair and you cannot see your own hair between the hair that's attached to the barrette.

The Mane clip= the hair is interchangeable (you can buy hair from BSS), but you keep the same barrette.
The UPA clip= the barrette is interchangeable (You get free barrettes w/ the LHCF discount), but you keep the same hair.

I agree with your mentality about all of this!

And as a side note, Hairapy, I think everyone has different reasons for getting either clip because each have their own benefits.

For me, I have aproblem with hair not matching my own texture. I did not invest in a UPA when they were introduced a while back because I was afraid that the choice of hair would scream "FAKE" on me. The picture I saw just did not look natural enough for me personally. Some women are different, I know. I see ponytails all the time that are not hardly the same texture as the wearer's hair. But, if I have the choice to pick my own hair and match it up that would work for me. The idea of the same barette all the time stinks, but for me the hair match is more important. And then there even other factors that would make a person buy either/or, like JG, stated.

Anyway, this is not a convo about which clip in better. I think both have positives and negatives and I am sure other consumers feel that same as me and Hairapy.

I do agree with JG, statements, though. I am been in desperate times, myself, but I am not sure I like the idea of asking for donations, even though I did, in fact, donate a Washington to the cause. I just don't think it was the best business move, but like I said I know how it feels to be in desperate times. We take the pride hat off to make things work! I think the ladies on the board have great hearts and I admire the team spirit to help each other out, but the fact is that this place is not representative of the real world and how things really go down.

Just my opinion, and like JG said, not trying to create contention, just stating my view.

I am so happy that many sisters on this board do not share your feelings. The support that I have received from so many including their husbands contacting me with suggestions and support is overwhelming. I came to LHCF because you all have been a part of the UPA Clip since it's inception. Not just customers but family and supporters of me and my business. I have acquired so many friends here who I adore. I think you would be shocked at the amount of monetary support(donations) that I am receiving. My mailman asked me what was going on. He had a ton on evelopes with money in them and you could see the money through the evelopes. My paypal account continues to grow all day long. The emails of encouragement and prayers have litterally brought me to my knees in tears. This board has actually helped me do what I need to do to keep from losing control of the UPA Clip. I appreciate everyone here so much and I know God will show me a way to give back to my sisters on the board.

and so is their product. But when I started out with the UPA Clip, I did not have the funds to have a website built so I purchased a couple of books and built it myself. I know that I need to have it done professionally, but quite honestly, the condition of my website has not kept people from all over the world from buying the UPA Clip or from being contacted by beauty supply stores world wide wanting to sale the UPA Clip. I think though you have encouraged me to rennovate my website to bring it to the standards of the Mane Clip site.

I imagine someone would be mean and evil enough to go to Sally's to undermine the letters and calls. That did not even come to my mind becasue I do not think that way, but you are probably correct. But I want everyone to know that I am really done and over with Sally Beauty Supply. I have moved on.

As far as sharing what I am doing with the UPA Clip with my sisters here on the board, I don't mind at all. I value their opinions good and bad, including yours.

Like I said I don't know that lady at Mane from Apple Jack. But, since you went there you got sour once before when you were offered some critiques. My posts have been objective I'm only offerring an opinion. I've been in Marketing off and on my entire career. Whether it be product placement or placing people in the right places.
If you take the emotion out of your reading you will see some of my points.

Now instead of taking it as a negative. Just like you asked for monetary donations, why don't you ask one of the young lady's here if they have web design experience? You'd be surprised at how many would jump at the chance to help you out. While I think it's a testament to how good the women of this board are, I still disagree with the donations I don't disagree with investments however.

You're going to have little hiccups here and there, but you'll have to learn from your mistakes. But my goal wasn't to rip you apart. I was giving you insight to the consumer that likes flash and glitter. If all your customers were as informed as the women here then you'd be rich...Right? So, you have to be able to bring your product to the people and the cheapest way of doing it is fine tuning that site and maybe doing adwords with Google?

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but these are the sorts of things people will want to see when doing business with you. You have to set a business plan for your company. You need to set a 90,60,30 day funnel of Companies you are going to pitch as well as where you want your retail site to me in that time frame.

So, you go back and read what I said. I in no way indicated that Mane's product was better I said the site looked better. There's a difference!

Thanks for your input. Contrary to what you may think, I do really, really do appreciate it.

Also, I do have a business plan. I paid lots of money for it and everything you mentioned above is in the works. I think I just may be trying to move from Ma and Pa to quickly. I went to China and gave away the goods without being ready to back it up. But again, I did think Sally was ready to order. Because of the wonderful sisters on this board and others, I will be able to deal with China.

And nope, I will never walk away from the UPA Clip. And sisters here helped me save a potential disaster. It was a desparate move that worked and I felt it would because I knew many cared enough to help.

I will never hesitate coming to my sisters for help and trust me, I have helped many as well and will continue to do so.

It was never my intentions to turn this negative and I regret it happening.

They are so not the same. I did not like the Mane Clip at all. Not for a moment. It was bulky and it looked a mess on my head. No offense to those it worked good for or the owner. I personally did not like it. I like however the UPA clip. No one can tell its not my hair its comfortable light and I forget I have it on. I really like it. I do have one suggestion about it but I will tell Michelle personally.

Umm I dont need your apology (which I NEVER saw). I wasnt insulted, I never looked at the thread until AFTER the fact. If I wanted a phony pony and a barrette Id buy them at a store. I never looked at your website until recently to compare your product and the other product on the market (which I agree thier site looks better than yours) BUT with all that said I think youre a GREAT business woman! You getting THOUSANDS in free money. Just for asking! You asked the right way and asked the right people.

Hey, Gods forgiving, what makes you better then God???? I asked for $1.00 and thousands responded. Thank God they are not like you and were willing to help me. God forbid you ever feel desperate enough to ask for help. I would still be there for you.


BTW I never said I was better than God. I said ride it till the wheels fell off. Id be as lucky enough to have a story that sells like that. And God knows I ask for help BUT I wouldnt ask for help from a group of women Id previously called bitter. That takes cajones! And Im SURE you'd be able to help me with the thousands youre getting!
