unmanipulated hair in its ABSOLUTE natural condition

When I'm lazy I'll just wet my hair and run my fingers through it. But I'll usually add a tiny bit of conditioner to keep my hair from totally drying out

Shoo... i have difficulty looking appealing with all the manipulation n products... without? A hot mess...

Ive broken out of that mentality that we must wear everything exactly the way God created .. first i dont know why he gave me my 4z texture (im sure he had a great:blush: reason) .. i figure if it looks good to to me, it looks good to him too... lol... so no matted hair in the name of being natural ..

@OP my post wasnt directed @ u.. im sure it was one of those curiosity questions... ive just stopped bothering about those questuons i cant answer... i think we give 'societal perceptions' too much credit and forget to just trust our eyes... sometimes the society percieves it negatively cos its truly looks a hot mess... not cos of race, gender, nationality etc

I've done a naked wash and go but even that requires some sort of grooming. Maybe I am missing something.

I've done it. Washed and just tied up in a puff and left to air dry. No product, no manipulation.
Eta I see fotki doesn't allow not linking anymore??

I didn't wear it like this very long. Was paranoid about knotting with NO moisture. (this was a year and ago)

My hair in its natural state would be scary after day 3. Picture waist length hair that has shrunk up to ear length, plus full of knots and matting. Not a pretty sight. I'm sure security would escort me out LOL

When I went natural the first time I knew nothing about natural hair. I would wash with a sulfate shampoo and walk out the door. My hair turned into one big dreadlock. Sometimes that absolute natural condition is not cute.

The fact that you pulled your hair back into a puff could be viewed as manipulation by some though.

With my first big chop I didn't tell anyone including my DH what I was doing. I did it in the middle of the night and didn't know what to put in it or do with it so just left it alone. the next day when he woke up his eyes got big like "what the...""" then he busted out laughing...

I don't even do this in private or even briefly. I KNOW I don't like to work hard and letting my hair do its thang at ANY time is asking for work coz it'd take forever to detangle (if I am trying not to lose hair from breakage) or I'd end up cutting it off coz I have a low tolerance for frustration.

I sometimes just wash my hair, condition, put in leave in conditioner and then pull it back into a banana clip bun. But I'd prefer it'd be more protected than that (ie oil or something.)

I don't know anyone who goes out without combing there hair... something... who would do that? (except kids who have white mommas :lachen:)

:yep: If I was going to do this I would just keep it real short. When my shaved head was growing out I didn't have to manipulate it. That was nice. Now it would just make me cry.

Besides a TWA or making organic locs you probably wont see hair looking like that. Even people with straight hair at least comb it before they go out.

no manter26, just your natural hair without washing it/putting product into it/flat ironing it/twist outs/etc

Never seen it, I know why. But I just wish I could, without getting stares from everyone and everybody

I don't understand why you are disappointed in the other ladies' reactions for not wanting to go out with their hair sans product etc when YOU have have not done so yourself for fear of wandering eyeballs.

No one is stopping YOU from making a stance. Why don't YOU go outside with just your natural hair without washing it/putting product into it/flat ironing it/twist outs/etc? So what if ppl stare. If it's something you want to do, then do it.

But I think it's very unfair to expect others to put their hair in jeopardy when you won't.

And I would never do it. Breakage, and tangles, and knots oh MY!:nono:

The frizz on my hair is So Crazy, that I can't imagine doing this without understanding that the next step is to shave my head bald. I'd never get the tangles out...never. Not with a million products, and a billion detangling techniques. :nono: And to walk out the house like that?? I'd be carted right back to the psych ward, where people assumed I escaped from. Bed 4, on the left. :lachen:

My hair would get too dry. I had a hateful asian ex-friend who tried to make me feel bad because I wear my natural hair in braid/twists/braid outs/twist outs. She was like, when you are going to wear your hair out.
But I can't wear my hair unmanipulated but she wanted to feel superior because she can.
However I have a natural waist and she doesn't so she likes to wear belts to accentuate her non-waist. However I'm not hateful enough to say, when you are going to wear your waist out.
Sorry for going off-topic. I've been upset about this for awhile.

I don't wear my hair out in public unmanipulated because it would not be a good look, period. Personally, I would not give a d@mn about what others think or do with theirs. Unmanipulated hair is not a part of my culture.

You really think your ex-Asian friend was not washing/combing/blow-drying/flat-ironing her hair? Because according to the OP that is what she considers wearing hair without manipulating. I think only certain tyoes of homeless people or people that are part of an art installation do that and it is not often by choice.

My last post then I'll leave you alone... Wear your hair how you like. :yep: You don't have to style it a certain way to please anyone. How can an afro offend anyone? I think your perception is a little skewed. I think you may find that a fro can get a lot of attention and lots of positive attention. Just wear it proudly and don't think to much about what other people are thinking.

SN: every time I see the Madagascar commercial with the afro circus, I want to take out all these braids and wear my fro. da da dadada da dada AFRO! :lachen:

ETA: I just read your other post. I'll PM you.

absolutely gorgeous thank you manter26 for the PM. i rest my case

I know when I was natural, I couldn't do it. I would have SS knot hell.:nono: If you decide to do it, please take some pics!
