My DH is Black,

This is a great thread, it makes me feel more open minded. I am also curious if you guys are worried about not having Black descendants...I know for the most part it is out of your control, it is just something I wonder about???

Not trying to be offensive, just piggy backing on a previous post:)

Actually that is a good question. Not worried at all. I come from an extremely large family (My siblings and I are 8 together and two of my sisters have 2 kids a piece, my father's and mother's family is 12. Have one Aunt with 12 kids and I believe 10 of those kids have 4-5 kids each...and so on and so forth. I swear they keep on reproducing left and right, and believe me the majority of them would only marry within the black race). So having a few "half-black" descendants wouldn't matter.

All that matters is that I make sure they know their heritage on both side. (Need to brush up on my African/African American history before reproducing).

Erm... where is black-caribbean or west indian on the poll?

Anyway my partner is black british (but his parents are from the caribbean)

Not particularly. After all, that's something that could change within a generation or two. I could very carefully maintain my genetic 'pureness' only to have the next generation go buckwild IRing. Not something I spend a lot of time worrying about. Its not like the world is going to run out of black folk anytime soon.

ITA. None of my grandparents expected their future grandchild to look like me :D None the less, I had a very close and loving relationship with my maternal grandparents (never met the others) - I was in fact favored in many ways...:)

My maternal (Swedish) grandmother actually went temporarily lame when she heard the news of my arrival  They had to carry her to the bathroom and everything.

In this new world we're living in, I'll be happy to have a grandchild or child of any color. I just want my kids to be happy and healthy, that's all.
Me and my SO are both mixed so our children can look like anyone of our ancestors, but most likely like us I guess.

My mcdreamy guy is south asian, LOL

Alot of people will ask him if he's jamaican (or some other caribbean) though, or mixed black and indian,

i don't think i voted  since there's no European choice. Dh is French with distant Asian ancestry.

I do draw a difference btwn Euros and Euro-Ams. Not the same at all to me. No offense to those w/ a good EA SO/DH, but I'm not wild about most Euro-American 'white' men.

There are some exceptions but on the whole i'm like:perplexed .

Black - W.I -Jamaican grand parents& mother (dad born in england)

ETA: Didn't vote theres no carribean/west indies

when I voted, I was dating a black american, but now I'm dating a ...well a combo I guess. Mom is black panamanian, dad is a white irish, born and mostly raised in panama.

After hearing so often that "half of the board is married to white men" I'm curious to see the actual breakdown. It does seem to be a significant number but I don't think it's a huge percentage of our membership.
Curious to know how many are dating interculturally as well (for example, someone from Africa)

Interesting premise, the results indicate that 19% state "their man" is white. What does that mean - dating, married, living together?? I posted a similar spin-off thread asking for marriage information which got little response. However, using the information from your poll, it would seem that "half of the board is married to white men" would not be an accurate statement.

Yeah, I didn't think thise statenents were accurate either, thus the poll. But we can always have a new one opened to "marrieds only" for response.

Same culture as we're both Americans, but as to color, I'm black and my husband is white. Or I'm brown and he's peach. You did say color. :)
