November 2015 : Hits & Misses

Hit:
Aveeno Active Naturals Leave In Treatment

I've used it 3 or 4 times now with just as many different conditioners and it's definitely a keeper. Works just as well as the Shea Moisture Kids Detangling spray. It leaves a soft shine to my hair and it's nicely moisturized for days. I can get it on the ground and most any store. Win all around.

Miss: Creme of Nature Back to Eden products............ The shampoo was ok, good lather and smell. The conditioner zapped every ounce of moisture out of my hair along with the leave in conditioner. The oil was ok...just ok. Taking it all back to the store to get my money back. Overall the products were a miss and left my hair feeling dry.

Soft & Beautiful Botanicals Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Repairing Mask - my hair feels so moisturized and soft. I could see this becoming a staple. It's very thick and creamy, smells nice and goes on nicely. I rinsed it out, blow dried and my hair is so soft. Everything detangled nicely too.

Is this in a green jar? I think I have this in my stash.

Hit: Joico Leave In Reconstructor
Great slip, made my hair really soft. I could see this being a staple.
Aphogee Two Step Treatment (step 1)
My hair always feels so amazing after I do this treatment. The last time I did it was May . I'm going to do it every two months.

Hit and miss:

Lustrasilk Moisture Max Hydrate Therapy Deep Conditioning Treatment. Doesn't hydrate - at all. It's filled with proteins though (both hydrolyzed and amino acid) and it makes your hair very hard. It's a hit because you can follow up with a moisturizing treatment and it should be great as a protein treatment. The miss is the claim of hydration plus not recommending a follow up moisturizing treatment. This could almost be used as a mid-protein step to a relaxer since it has so many proteins in it and they're higher up on the list:

Water (Aqua,Deionized), Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Lanolin,Quaternium-18,Keratin Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia Nut) Seed Oil, Silk Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Equisetum Hiemale Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Pinus Strobus Cone Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettles) Extract, Panthenol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance

I'm really happy I have my Aveeno Leave In Treatment. I sprayed it on and it moisturized my hair enough to counter the stiffening affect of this conditioner so I could blow my hair out. I may or may not purchase this again... it'll probably be only around relaxer time.

Miss: African Pride Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner

It's suppose to condition your hair and protect it from heat styling. I haven't tried it yet for heat use but I did use it as my leave-in after I washed and conditioned. It did not work for me. And I was heavy-handed with it. My hair felt stiff by the end of the day and by day 2 I had flakes.

Miss: My hair
I cut it again. It's not a TWA, but I cut about an inch all over. I'm sick of my hair. I'm tired of the cottony, fine, prone to breakage wirey, kinky texture. I'm sick of not being able to retain length even though I don't heat style or manipulate my hair. I'm just tired of it. It grows slow as hell, I need to put it away ASAP.
I want to find a wig that looks natural that will fit my big head.

Rant over.

I hope you feel better after you take a much needed break. Sometimes you just need one :sneakyhug:
