No mineral oils, petroleum and lanolins - yes this is a hype
No sulfates - yes this is a hype

I only feel this way because there are so many products that contain these ingredients and are doing wonders for so many peoples hair. I would however, be careful about using them with any degree of frequency of course and about using the ones that contain them too high up in the ingredients list. I would not use too many products that contain these ingredients either.

The thing I've realized since joining LHCF is that everyone's hair is different. Some things will work wonders for one (i.e. oilrinsing or henna). For me, neither of these things did well on my hair. In fact, both caused A LOT of breakage!

You must find the regimen that works for you!

The poll was confusing a little - I voted wrong - I think vitamins, water, protein are overhyped because I used them religously for months and my hair is grew the same amount as it did before. I guess they were right when they said genetics dictate your hair growth. Everything else relating to how to care for your hair is good.

YES to Henna
YES to Indian products
YES to oil rinsing (occasional).

Oil rinsing feels good for my head. Indian products (henna/oils)are useful because they improves MY texture & add luster and softness.

I don 't know what a seamless comb is but I take one hair vitamin (biotin)the other is a multi.
I drink plenty of water period because it's important. Because water is good for you and your colon. Not because I think I'll sprout an extra inch.

Don't know if all these 'growth aids' actually work. Though I'd put money on MTG and maybe MN.
But who knows if the rest works. My hair grows fast anyway so I'd have no way of knowing whether it was the aids or me.:ohwell:
Unless I hit a serious spurt...:look:

But I'm way too impatient to wait 2 or 3 weeks fro visible results.

I think the poll results are interesting in that alot of what is discussed on here daily is not embraced by the majority. Seems that the one common theme is "do you". Not everything will work for everyone.

I made the mistake when I first came here of jumping on every trend, now I read-sometimes comment but, mostly ya'll are my girls and getting on-line w/ you is like chillin at my homegirls house for the night, doing hair and talking 'bout men. ((smooches)) to all my sistas.:yep:

I should return to add that there is nothing wrong with Lanolin!

Look it up, its just oil that comes from sheep... a lot more natural and safer than mineral oil too. It sounds grosser than it really is, and its good in wrapping lotion. :yep: No carcinogens either.

I got some recently at the health food and used it to make a "slather" for my eczema and it works great! Better than anything I've tried before.

If it requires mixing, makes a huge mess, or requires more than 20 minutes of my time I dont buy into hypes:lachen:its not that serious for me and Im lazy. The last bandwagon I jumped on was Kenra conditioner and I loved it  i still use it

Just because something does not work for my hair....but works for others....I can't call it HYPE!

Different strokes for different folks!:spinning:

BUT.....sometimes it is misleading when you read that Product X made hair grow faster when if you really dig the person mixed Product X with 6 other things (oils, taking vitamins, cardio, etc) for the results.

I agree...different strokes for different folks. I use "Product X" and I don't add anything else to it, and it does work without all the extras:yep:

I don't believe in or follow any of them.

Same here.

I mean I drink enough water & eat enough protein but that's just for general health, not for my hair.

That seamless comb thing sounds like a good idea, but I don't know whether mine is or not. *stares at comb* how do you tell?

:lachen: I just have this image of you fondling your comb, asking it to tell you about it's seams....
