Hotshot, I kinda started off like you did but I gradually trimmed the relaxed hair off bit by bit every time I redid a braid. Couldn't stand my relaxed hair anymore coz it just looked so thin compared to the natural newer hair so I was anxious to get rid of it. I just wasn't brave enough to do the big chop once and for all.

My relaxed hair before the braids coulda made a good picture beside the word "overprocessed" in the dictionary, not to mention it was very "well done", thanks to daily heat application.

i'm natural, did the big chop twice within 5 months. haven't gone back to perming, don't plan to.
 
you know i never intended to go natural- i plannedon wearing braids to get longer permable hair. i went home freshman year from college to get my hair braided and my braider forgot it she made my appointment on her man's birthday and she had do to spend time with him. she said- "do you want to make another appointment?" i said no and have been nappy since.
 
My texture is 100% natural. 3bc fine. I use a semi permanent color on front section of gray. Length when extended is 5 inches below waist. Goal mid thigh, would be satisfied with classic.
 
I am too! I will have been relaxer-free 2 years in December.
But, I have only been completely natural since July 1 of this year.
 
What semi-permanent are you using? It really covers gray (a sista need a little gray coverage ova here

I'm glad to hear that you able to minimize the amount of heat you put on your hair. Heat has been a major cause of hair damage for me and wearing my hair natural has greatly improved my hair's health.

i have been transitioning for 1 year, with 5-6 inches of natural hair. still have relaxed hair but hope to be totally natural within next 6-8 months.
 
<<transitioning , i have 4inchs of natural hair so far, i plan on transitioning for the next yr or two.
 
I have been on and off of perms , I got my first 1 when I was about 8 and my hair was little about bra strap, it was in cute temple curls, thicks ones, and everyone wanted to touch my hair, my mom did not know my sisters give me a perm, but after about 2 years at 10 years old, my teach, AA lady in her 40s how had long balck about bra strap lenght hair, and perm, talked to my mom and had my damage hair cut off, which was something that I wanted, and that same day, my old friend got hair long locs cut off, and we were both little short afro girls

Yeah I pushed it again, I wear a scarf so my hair look really really huge if I just try to wear it in a pony tail and they were tried of looking at it, man it was big my head , but 14 or 15 I had done the natural thing again, cuting it myself, mostly as a way of expressing myself, but I do have a regret, My sister had permed my hair when I was about 14 or 15 , and it was really long and nice, shoulder lenght, and she told me I could not cut my hair, and I told her I could do what ever I wanted too, so I found those scissor and cut my hair into the most lop side bob u have ever seen

it was horrible, I think that was all in one day, everyone was so mad that I cut all my hair off, and I was too, after looking at myself, but at 15 I cut it off in the summer, and have been natural since, Now I can care for my own hair, and it is growing better, before I really had no Idea and I just left on my head and it was too painful to comb, I wore large BKnot

but I have learned that pony tail dont go well on me, so I just do twist and braids, and I am really happy to be natural, and really always wanted to be, sorry for all the mistakes
