My husband proposed to me on my birthday in July of 2007. We went to to an Italian restaurant in lower Manhattan. I had no idea that he was going to propose, but I was wondering why he was bringing my gift to the restaurant. When we were on the train, he started talking about our relationship and how great things are and how he could make me even happier. I didn't think anything suspicious was going on because he always talks like that (he's such a treasure).
When we got to the restaurant, he put the gift on the windowsill. Throughout the evening, he pushed the box slowly over to my side of the window. He said that I could open it when the gift was completely on my side of the windowsill. He kept talking about how wonderful I was and how happy he was to be with me. By the time we finished dinner, the box was completely on my side of the windowsill. I opened it and saw that it was a jewelry box (I'd asked for one). I opened the jewelry box and there was a box of Rocher chocolates, along with a ring box. I opened the ring box, but he took it from me. He got down on one knee and took out the ring. He told me that he loved me and that he'd like to be my husband. Then he asked me to marry him. I was so shocked. I kept asking, "are you serious?" He kept nodding and waited for my reply. I said yes.
Twenty minutes later, he asked me when I wanted to get married. I was shocked b/c I thought I was going to have more time to think about it, but I originally chose August 30, 2008. However, we quickly saw how expensive things are in New York and moved the wedding to Florida. We also pushed up the date to June 14, 2008. (June 14 is the day we started dating).
