How did he propose?!

Just got engaged last weekend. We went on a boat cruise of the Ohio River at Sunset. He had the DJ/tourguide call him up to "play a game'". When he got up there he called me up too. He had a heart warming speech about how I make him want to be a better man, and how much he loves me. Then he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring!!! Of course I said yes! And the ring was totally on point....bling, bling, ladies. Bling bling!

P.S.- I'm a Rules Girl from WAY back!

Over. The. Phone.:perplexed:grin:.

We were still in high school and had been officially dating for 3 months. One day we were talking and suddenly out of the blue he goes. "I need to ask you something. Will you marry me?" I tried to act all cool and reserved because I thought he was joking, being on the phone and all but said yes. The next day at school I was like "Um...Were you serious about what you said on the phone?" He goes. "Yes! I'm very serious." and asked me again in person. I was all cool until I got home then ran screaming to my mom. All she could say was "Good. Then maybe you can move out from under my roof!":ohwell: Um...I was only 17...We did not get married until I was 21 but I DID move out from under mom:look:.

Congrats Kamilah!!!

The first proposal was last Mother's Day. I was in a bad mood due to AF and the rain. He and I were watching TV in his bedroom. He sat the ring on the bed and kept looking at me. I could see him out the corner of my eye. I caught tude with him. Then he eyed the ring and I did too. I asked whose it was. He told me it was mine. I asked him whose ring he found at the Lost and Found at work? He said that it was mine and asked me to marry him. I thought it was a joke. When he told me it wasn't, I accepted. I was mad because it was not what I expected.

The next month at the Engagement Party (we'd already started booking and planning the wedding for a while to cut down costs) we were telling about the engagement. Then he reproposed to me. Brian McKnight's 'Still In Love' was playing. He said that I was the first gf to ever let him be emotional. He also said that he loves me so much that he'd do anything for me, and die for me. I can't remember much else because we all were crying. That was the best proposal ever. It was in front of all of our family and close friends.

WOWIE HSmith!! I got a lil misty eyed! That sounds so lovely! I could just see it now! How beautiful! Congratulations to you too!

I wish I had a great story, but don't. He came over my house and pulled out my calendar and politely informed me that we were getting married on this day (in 4 months). I was like "yeah, right". Next thing I knew, he left messages on the answering machine telling me of the churches he talked too and how much they charged. I was married four months later to the day.

I think that is so cute! I want to hear more stories. I was actually going to start a thread on this but decided to do a search first and it came up with this. FANTASTIC!

Bended knee, Times Square, NYC...12:02 New Years "Eve"/Day.

And 5 minutes later, everyone I knew started calling me asking what happened (everyone knew WHY he was taking me to NY and WHY he insisted on standing out there in the freeeezing cold for 12 hours after I begged to go back to the hotel and told him how frozen all of my bones were).

I need your boyfriends to talk to my BF... We've been talking about it, but I still haven't seen any bling on my finger...
Anyhow your stories are so cute! Congrats to all of you and good luck.

Come on People. I know there are a lot of married/engaged women on this board. And i would like to hear more. I'm a sucker for sweet storied

My husband proposed to me on my birthday in July of 2007. We went to to an Italian restaurant in lower Manhattan. I had no idea that he was going to propose, but I was wondering why he was bringing my gift to the restaurant. When we were on the train, he started talking about our relationship and how great things are and how he could make me even happier. I didn't think anything suspicious was going on because he always talks like that (he's such a treasure).

When we got to the restaurant, he put the gift on the windowsill. Throughout the evening, he pushed the box slowly over to my side of the window. He said that I could open it when the gift was completely on my side of the windowsill. He kept talking about how wonderful I was and how happy he was to be with me. By the time we finished dinner, the box was completely on my side of the windowsill. I opened it and saw that it was a jewelry box (I'd asked for one). I opened the jewelry box and there was a box of Rocher chocolates, along with a ring box. I opened the ring box, but he took it from me. He got down on one knee and took out the ring. He told me that he loved me and that he'd like to be my husband. Then he asked me to marry him. I was so shocked. I kept asking, "are you serious?" He kept nodding and waited for my reply. I said yes.

Twenty minutes later, he asked me when I wanted to get married. I was shocked b/c I thought I was going to have more time to think about it, but I originally chose August 30, 2008. However, we quickly saw how expensive things are in New York and moved the wedding to Florida. We also pushed up the date to June 14, 2008. (June 14 is the day we started dating).
