Do you feel less inclined?

While I openly admit to being a *wee* bit shallow :look: (what?) in this case I don't even think that's the issue. I take anything that's said w/a grain of salt and research for myself, it's just that sometimes I feel like some people are negative advertisements (I could be for someone as well, not placing it all on the "other" person). Why would I want to try something you recommend when your hair has been the same length (and not even healthy) for 7 years? Or want some makeup you're selling when you still wearing black lipliner with beat-up kitty red lipstick? I don't think that's shallow, that's real talk right dere...

Thank you....:yep:
On LCHF, I will listen to other ppl who have a nice head of hair even though they're not BSL. We're all in this journey together with the same goals in mind. Hell I'm not BSL--but I will be, so I'm not trippin.
Now--that doesn't mean I'll necessarily follow anyone's advice. I mean, just like Henna and cowashing work for me--don't mean they gon work for everyone else, does it? BUT--I will listen and consider the ideas and do my own research on it.

In real life, I don't feel inclined to listen to most ppl. I cowash every day. My auntie told me I wash my hair too much, "That's bad..." she says.
I've had 1 3/4 inch of new growth in 5 1/2 to 6 weeks (at last count; last week). No breakage. No splits from what I can see. The spot on my RT side which had broken off is coming back together nicely (it just looks like I have a face-frame). I THINK it's SL now but I'm stretching this relaxer so I can't tell. So...after 5 wks of no heat, I heatstyled yesterday to check progress and for the first time in like EVER--I didn't see little hairs all over the sink and my shirt! :dance7:

I think in 6 weeks I'll even everything up so that everything can grow at one length.

But anyway--
My auntie's hair...God bless her heart and Lord forgive me--but her hair hasn't moved pass her ear since I've been on this earth!

...and that's exactly what I woulda told her if she wasn't family. But I don't trip on family like that. It's ugly...
She doesn't say too much because she's always thought my hair was pretty. Only thing she has a problem with is the hair washing. Now she talking about some, "Well...maybe I need to get me a perm too so I can grow my hair out!" LOL.Then I have to tell her. For the 60'th time, "Auntie--perms don't grow your hair out..."

But in general ya'll know that many of the ppl giving advice ain't fit to give it.
..and why should I listen? That's like women who give relationship advice who can't even keep a man themselves!
Of course something can be learned from everyone but really....unless I wanted to know what not to do/how not to behave around a man, why would I need your opinion?

There's this one chick, 'friend' of a friend (that I can't stand) whose always hanging around me and my homegirls and she ALWAYS has something to say.
She scrunched up her face like, "Uh uh...ya'll wash ya'll hair TOO much, for me...."

Me and one of my girls just traded sideways glances.
Then my girl (the nice one) gently informed her that "Dirty hair needs to be washed....the scalp can only benefit from frequent stimulation".... And "...if you replacing the oils what does it matter..."
Blah blah blah...

I was like, "...seem like any washing is too much washing for you.(lol) Everytime I see you, you in a weave, girl! What's that about..." Then to myself but still perfectly audible. "Poor lil strands...struggling to push past all that glue..."

This hag wears nothing but quick weaves. Her ends are all chewed up and her hairline is picked clean. Literally.

I mean how you gon give advice or talk about someone else's methods when you ain't on point YOURSELF?
Gon' on somewhere, please.

See, me and this girl--we have a weird 'relationship'...where we trade shots back and forth with each other.
I know. I know--it's immature. But my friend keeps bringing her a** around us knowing no one cares for her. Knowing I'm not good at faking niceness with ppl I can't stand.
So when she IS around...the insults just fly.

Don't pity her, she deserves it.
She's said worse to me (believe me).

First of all that story is funny. Secondly I agree. I don't take hair advice from just anyone. On the board it's different cause I know that we all have different starting points and for the most part we have the same goal: healthy hair. Everybody isn't the same IRL and so I take any and all advice with a grain of salt.

Even my momma - bless her heart - struggles with the hair growth and she will give me advice all the time. She doesn't understand how I can stand to wash my hair so often and not use a blow fryer with a comb attachment and then press it within an inch of its life. I just go "uh huh ma" and keep it moving. It's getting to the point now she's asking me for hair advice.

I am picky.

About a year or 2 ago, I had a nice bun headwrap on. No one could see my hair, not even an outline of it.

Well I went to a shop and asked about shampoo. Of course the only black person in their felt they could help me. She said that she has been natural for 6 years, she died her hair last year and its been growing ever since. She then proceeded to tell me that hair dye is good for her and made her hair grow.

Let me tell ya'll what her head looked like. First it was thin and orange. SHe said she died her hair a year ago; so why were her roots just as orange as the rest of her hair:look:. I asked her, so you haven't touched up the dye since last year? "No girl, and you can see that I don't have to touch up my roots cause the color stayed."

She then proceeded to tell me that she is a natural stylists, so why wasn't she at THAT job then?:look: Then told me that us naturals can't trim our hair without straightening it. Then tried to convince me that I can't use The Body SHop products that I was asking about, because it is all for White people.

Eventually, I told her that I didn't come here for your hair advice. When I walked into the door, she saw that I had made a decision and frankly I am not interested in her hair.

I do not know, how this chica, felt she could give hair advice without seeing my hair. If I wanted my hair to look like road kill, I'll make sure to find her.

DAAAAAAAAYUM :nono:

i don't even want to think of how it's possible to color your hair ONE TIME and not see your roots A YEAR LATER.

I tune people out :perplexed :ohwell: I can't help it.... nobody I know (knows) as much about hair care than me. :look:

The proof is in the condition of the heads! well... even my sis who has nice long hair I don't listen too much because we have different texture.

Ppl are a trip... lol

Yes I do feel less inclined to take hair advice. Mostly because a lot of black women don't really know what they're talking about (check out the hair myths thread). However, the ladies on this forum are definitely the exception.

On the other end of it, I consider myself more knowledgeable than the average person because of all the info. I've learn on this site. Even still, I will not offer any hair advice or suggestions. One reason is because my hair is short and another reason is because most black women are too stuck in their ways to take heed to anything that I would tell them.

So, for now I'll just keep it all to myself.

I'm not talking just about hair, although she had about a teaspoon that she had managed to squeeze into a ponytail. It would be totally different if it were healthy but ummm :nono: I digress...

HAHAHAHHAHA I LAUGHED ALOUD AT THIS. I alwyas had hair that was usually abl or bsl growing up. my mom would just blow dry and curl my hair and i would wrap it at night. My hair is fine so it didn't hold curls too well, so midweek, my hair was flat and sleek like a wrap. With my hair parted down the middle I looked like a little hippie from the 1960's.

NEVERTHELESS....there would always be someone (black), usually a catty black girl who would say someting about "why don't you ever wear a hairstyle"

LOL...they were just freaking jealous....and that made me laugh because those catty girls.....THEY ALWAYS HAD a "teaspoon of hair" that they managed to put into a pony tail, or back with a REAL RUBBERBAND (I knew better than this prior to lhcf, but everyone doesn't so I'm not trying to offend everyone) but I would always laugh at the pea sized hair in a ponytail, or once even a braid, and be like, I don't need you giving me advice about style LOL. DEAD!!
