Blackbarbie's transition.............TO THE BC!!

Yes, I am still transitioning, but I have been also transitioning to the BC. What does this mean? This means that I have been transitioning my way to the BC by doing occasional “little” chops. I have been doing to this for the last month and a half so I can have my mind completely wrapped around the concept of getting rid of my hair when I get it done at the end of the summer. I have been mainly wearing wash n' go ponytails and I will usually snip a little here or a little there (whenever the relaxed ends don't play well with the natural hair)

I have pictures of a 2nd day wash and go and several pictures that show the nape where most of the relaxed ends still remain. My brother/stylist says I should just leave it and wait until the back grows out a little more until I BC.

I just came from my brother's shop to show him the back part where it is straight and to see what method he was going to use when he cut it. When I got there, there was a lady already in the chair he was finishing up with and another waiting to get her weave finished up. When the 2nd lady finished, she sat in the chair. My brother went to get her hair so he could finish up. The lady kept looking across the room and almost fell out of her chair. I was turning around trying to see what she was looking. Then she says to my brother “I want to try some of that she has; what is it – Indian Remy?” My brother laughs and tells her “Man no, that's her hair and that's my sister”. The lady seemed semi-embarrassed and was trying to explain. I was laughing and the lady kept saying, “well I can usually tell b/c I look at the scalp, etc., etc.” When I stood up in front of his mirror to show him, she was still trying to break her neck to see if it was mine. I thought it was funny b/c when I was relaxed, I always had people to wonder it if were a weave, but I never thought anyone would think my natural hair was a weave. I'm flattered (because I was still a little perturbed that I had the frizzies going on, but I have come to love the "messy" look)

O.k. Here are the pics:

So the final verdict is that I am STILL transitioning and hope to end my transition on September 17th. (I don't know how I came up with that day but I always said it would be at the end of the summer and I keep revisiting that date for some reason):ohwell:

Now you know good and well you need to go ahead and type in this thread how you achieved this look because everyone is going to ask. Start typing Missy. :yep:

U are so pretty. Your hair is looking good.

Thanks! I have been noticing your siggy and avatar as of late and you have been wearing more straight styles. Do you do it yourself or go to the salon? How does it hold up in the heat?

I don't think I will be straightening mine again until September when I do the BC (my brother says he will have to blow dry it and then cut it as opposed to wetting it and then looking for any remaining relaxed ends)

I've been waiting for this day like it was my hair  Congrats. Can't wait for updates.
Your color is sooooooooooo pretty too.

:grin:I didn't want to type too much more (since I had already typed a book and still couldn't resize my larger than life pictures!!)

After washing (with conditioner of course), I left a tad bit in and went through each part of my hair with my detangling comb to get all the tanglies out. Then I went back and detangled with my fingers. I used Garnier Sleek n' Shine on each section and I also used Fantasia IC Sparkilite (can't think of the actual name but it's a staple for a lot of the ladies here - including me now!) Some sections I used my denman brush on and some sections I used my hand on. (There is a patch of hair in the back left side of my head that I have to over saturate with product or else it dries looking like a cotton ball; this was the portion I used the denman brush on to make sure I could get the product in from root to tip)

After each section was done (where I could CLEARLY) see the relaxed ends taunting me!), I let it air dry a little bit but then I took my diffuser b/c I wanted it big. As I diffused it, I pulled it as well. I had to be careful not to pull the back too much because the back bottom layer was already straight; by the time I finished pulling it, it was comletely straight.

When I went to bed, I flipped my head upside down and put a big scarf around the edges. When I got up this morning, I used a mist mixed with Giovanni Direct Leave In, Conditioner, water and coconut oil. When I misted it, it reactivated the Garnier Sleek and Shine. Then I scrunched it and it came back to life.

Your hair looks great! Your transition is going so well. It doesn't seem like you have much relaxed hair left at all.

:grin:I'll be sure to post, although the very first pics of my BC will be of me with straight hair. I will follow up a few days later with a curly do!

Yes, there are just a few left - just enough to mess up a good wash n' go! I am going to be patient and let them grow out for another 2.5 months. This will be just in time for me to get a fresh cut and then start wearing my straight styles for the fall/winter.

I see you are coming up on a year anniversary of your transition. How is it going?

I'm hanging in here and keeping it simple. I just wanted to make it two years... but you, Mook, CC, and a host of others are sending me all types of inspiration with these recent threads :yep:

Yeah, I would have to say that the only reason I made it this far was that I "kept it simple". The bun was my friend and to be honest with you, I didn't have a problem with it at all because I was able to make a sleek, stylish looking one and it suited my everyday needs. But it is now time to take the plunge since I will look forward to fully enjoying my wash n' go's in summer 2010 (sans the relaxed ends)

I say youre pretty much natural now! :yep:

:yep:I have to agree, but I am going to make it "official" in September. I think doing it this way (snip snip a little here and a little there) is what's going to cause me not to go into cardiac arrest when I sit in the chair and finally get the remaining ends cut off.

Hey, Miss you, lady. I love your natural hair. I am guessing that your brother is still coloring it. By the way, I hate the fact that your brother does your hair.

Love love your hair! You are blessed to have such beautiful curls...., on top of that, you are a beautiful woman BB.
