Blackbarbie's transition.............TO THE BC!!

I remember when I first joined LHCF in 2007, your beautiful hair avatar and siggie were soooooooooo inspiring! I use to click on your member name just so I could see your fabulous head of hair ! Now here you are transitioning, and I'm still a believer! Your hair is so healthy looking and thick, I don't think it matters if you're relaxed or natural-your hair is still beautiful !!! Thanks for being one of my original inspirations, and for continuing to grow your hair and take it to the next level! Much wisdom and success to you in your transition!
Keep us informed, and let us know how it's going!!

Hey, Miss you, lady. I love your natural hair. I am guessing that your brother is still coloring it. By the way, I hate the fact that your brother does your hair.

:wave:Hey hon!
Thank you for the compliment; yes he's still coloring it. I have finally gotten better (much better) at blow drying and I am no longer afraid to use my flat iron now so he will be doing it less and less (after he cuts it).

Good to hear from you!

Awwww thanks Stella B! Yes, I remember you from back then as well. I also recall looking at the natural heads and thinking "Oh, that looks nice but I could never do it" and I never really read any of the threads, just looked at the pics.

Once I started to transition, I must say that I didn't have to look any further than LHCF for any and all information I ever wanted to know about natural hair care. As many have helped and inspired me, I am glad I was able to help someone on my journey as well.

I will check back in and keep you posted when I do my final BC in the next couple of months!

Thanks again!

I have always loved your hair both ways. It's so beautiful. Still loving your beautiful head of hair!

Wow!!!!!! Those curls are to die for. I thought it was a weave until I re read the title.

Thanks!
You and the lady at my brother's shop too! She was getting her weave put in and when I walked in, she asked my brother if I had Indian Remy (I'm pretty sure that's what she said) and told him she wanted what I had. He had to tell her it was my hair.

WOW, BB, your hair inspires me! It's so gorgeous! How do you style it daily?

Thanks! Since it's summer and once I workout, it's drenched with sweat, I do a wash n' go ponytail (with a side part) on a daily basis. By the end of the day, if I take the elastic off my hair and finger comb it so it can continue to air dry, then I have another style similar to the one in my original post (but usually BIGGER), but I usually don't "let it go" until the weekend.

Once the weather gets cooler, I will start back wearing straight styles. (since I will have a fresh new cut:yep:)

Girl, ain't nothing frizzy about your hair! The color and the curls are SO pretty!!! If you can do WnGs successfully, you are pretty much there...GREAT job on your transition!

I think it's beautiful and there is no need to BC b/c all of it already looks natural.

Well I suppose since I have been "little chopping", it won't be that big of a chop. It will be more of him cutting it into a style so when I wear it straight/flat ironed, it won't be choppy looking and all uneven.

I think that's why he kept telling me to just wait until the end of the summer so I don't mess anything up by continuing to snip here and snip there. I just still can't understand how my entire nape is pretty much straight; it's as if it is growing in straight because some of the pieces are 4-5 inches long (and I've been transitioning for 2.5 years so those strands should have some curl pattern some where):perplexed

But no worries, it will hardly be a BC.

Wow! Just looked at your fotki; your hair is beautiful! How is your transition coming along? How much longer do you plan to transition? How you do mainly wear your hair?

 Thanks! I am 14 months in right now and haven't had the urge to BC yet. I am doing braid and twist outs religiously and trying to experiment with different products bc my hair seems to need something different every 4-5 months as the proportion of NG to relaxed hair changes/weather/etc.

I plan on transitioning for at least 2 years, so I have at least 10 months to go, but I am really attached to my length as I just made BSL and want to stay there, so I will snip from here every 8-10 weeks. My NG and my relaxed ends are dramatically different, but if I can be like you and do WnGs with a few relaxed ends still left (without it looking crazy), I will transition on out fully without ever doing a BC, per se:yep:

It's beautiful. I knew it would look like that. BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks Missy!
Now I suppose my next goal will be to get some length back. For some reason, I'm a little anxious about getting back to my length because my hair is easier to manage (buns are a lifesaver)

I'm putting myself on a timeline of 2 years to get some length like yours!
