Blackbarbie's transition.............TO THE BC!!

I swear I used to rock a weave that resembles your wash & go! I love the fullness, the curls, dang, I'm just loving your hair girl!

You are almost there!!! Your hair looks great! I have chickened out, I can't imagine flat ironing and worrying about reverting.:perplexed I have to do some more researching on natural hair care.

Wow, your wash-n-go is beautiful! Your texture looks like my oldest daughter's (she's a fine 3b). I couldn't imagine relaxing that beautiful hair! So pretty :)

Your hair looks fabulous!! But I understand what you mean about people thinking your relaxed hair was a weave. That happened to me all the time. But I don't think anyone has confused my natural hair with being a weave vs. being my own hair.

How did I miss this thread!!?!! I didn't even realize you were transitioning, your hair looks great!!

I love your hair and believe me when I say you kept me from ending my transition tonight. My hair texture is about a 3c/ 4a and I have been transitioning for 11 months. I have also been slowly cutting my hair every 8-12 weeks. I have gone from MBL to slight below SL in efforts to trim the relaxed ends. I have about an inch left. You inspired me to wait and put the scissors down. I actually snipped a little tonight and decided to stop after seeing your pictures.
I do have an appt for highlights tomorrow so maybe that will tide me over for a few months before I have the urge to snip again!

Blackbarbie, you have been my hair idol since I joined this board. Your hair is beautiful! Since I rarely visit this forum, I did not know you were transitioning.

I'm sad you chopped all that beautiful hair, but I know it will grow back in no time. :yep:

Thanks so much for sharing your pics.

Just step away from the scissors! LOL
That's how I started off by getting a few inches trimmed every 2-3 months. There was a time when I just wanted to get rid of all the remaining relaxed ends and the way I curbed it was going back and getting color. My first plan was to just wait until I was completely natural before I did color again, but I couldn't wait - I got the color to keep me from BC'ing so soon!

Make sure to post pictures of your highlights. I'm sure they will be gorgeous and at the same time, it will give you something else to think about besides getting rid of the rest of your relaxed ends.

I was always wondering if you could do mini chops, as i wish that i would put down my phyto relaxer .. hmm?

LOL....Just look at it as if you were trimming your hair on a regular basis, but instead of trimming an inch or so each time, just trim 2-3 inches. I always thought the idea of doing several mini chops all along the way would be less traumatic for me than doing one big chop.
