Aveda Moisturizers?

I will be going to the Aveda Store on my lunch break today. I want to try the Silk Wrap tonight for a wedding tomorrow. After reading the silk wrap thread, it appears that to get the silkiness, I'm going to need a moisturizer. Since I will be wearing my hair straight tomorrow, I will be using all Aveda Products tonight. What are some Aveda moisturizers that will not weigh my fine strands down?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Girlie, I use the Aveda Universal Styling Creme also, and love it... you only need a pea drop and it does't weigh my hair down.

How much is this wonderful moisturizer? :D

Thanks HoneyDew!

$16, but don't let the price deter you. It lasts a long time. Like the other ladies said, you following the directions just as the tube says. Emulsify a pea sized amount of the creme and apply it. I do this about 3 to 5 time to get all over depending on how dry my hair is or how much NG I have.

Thanks, girlie! $16.00 isn't too bad.

Does this USC impart shine as well?

I really don't want to hand over another $22.00 to get the Aveda Brilliant Serum in order to have some shine. I'm going in there to get one thing (the USC) and then I'm out. I spent almost $100.00 on Aveda Products last month. I'm not trying to do that today.

Yeah girl, I know you love AVEDA! See, now I want to buy the serum, I wonder if I they will give me a sample of it. Girl, why you had to come all up in this thread posting and carrying on! :lachen:

Nooo, not you too!!! :D Dang, ok, I'm going to have to go into prayer about this before stepping up in the Aveda Store. :lachen:

Umm, Anyone try the Aveda Brilliant Shampoo and Conditioner?

I am going to be another broken record for the USC. It IS good!

The Aveda Brilliant Serum is the truth too!:D

I have tried teh Aveda Brilliant poo/con and it was just okay. Didn't give me negative results but wasn't worth the money.

Yes the Aveda Brilliant Conditioner and Shampoo are WONDERFUL, as well. I did not repurchase those because I try not to spend too much on shampoos and conditioners so I can leave room for my more costly treatments and moisturizers.

And to answer your question, the Universal Styling Creme does give shine, but I find that it needs some help if you want super BLING! I personally don't use the serum because I don't find that it is anything special for the price. I only used it once when I was in the store. Maybe longterm I would see somethnig special, but for me, if I can find something that works the same at a better price I am going for the better price - I need to spend my money on getting me new hardwood floors put in.

Letita got me hip to using a little Vitapointe for more shine, but most times I really don't need to do that because I Henna and Indigo and that gives bling already.

Thanks girl!!! I feel you on the hardwood floors! I just put some hardwood floors down in my living and dining room at the end of last month. And, yes you're going to need your money! :D

I plan to try Aveda prods one day when I get rid of some of my current stuff. Question - what direction are you supposed to roll your hair for the silk wrap? I want to try it this weekend too but I'm scared that if I roll my hair in the wrong direction, it won't wrap and set and well. Should I roll the front/top of my hair going forward like a bang and the sides straight down toward the ear and then the back down toward the nape?

You got me wanting to take a little lunch time field trip to Aveda, too. :)

Go ahead and go girl!!! I took an earlier lunch, because it's so slow around here today. I am so proud of myself, I went into Aveda (VanMichael Salon) and walked out of there with only the USC and a sample of the serum. Prayer changes things!!!!! :lachen:

I'm not really sure how we should roll our hair for the silk wrap. I was going to just roll my hair the normal way I do it. However, the way I do it, usually ends up being too curly. I'm scared to try the silk wrap as well. But, I figure if I do it tonight and don't like it, I'll have time to re-do my hair before the wedding tomorrow. :D

You knew the Aveda USC camp was going to come out in full force. I knew I would see my girls in here. (HoneyDew and Nelli.) I see there are more ladies who love this also. :) This stuff is great!

(I couldn't get a sample at my Aveda store but it is worth the money.)

You did very good! Let me know about the Serum. I think I will try again for a sample of it. But the way NTM Serum is praised, I think it might be just as good. Ever tried that one????

Anyone tried both Aveda Serum and NTM serum?? If so, what did you think?

The NTM Serum did absolutely nothing for my hair, but it does great on others.

I will report back on how I like the serum either tonight or tomorrow. I'm so excited. :D
