August 2007 Hits & Misses

Huge Hit:
Joico thickening shampoo
Joico thickening conditioner - first conditioner I tried that has protein in it but leaves my hair feeling soft and looking moisturize and healthy.

REVISITED HIT:
Paul Mitchell The Conditioner

HIT:
Kenra Moisturizing Shampoo
Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner (didn't work well when I was relaxed, but now that I'm natural, it works like a charm)
Paul Mitchell Hair Sculpting Lotion

I am so glad it works for you. I was getting really concerned when nothing was working for you. :nono::nono:

*You know I am still thankful for my DE.

So far...

HIT: Aveda DR line, Aveda Smoothing Fluid - I've been using this after I rinse or spritz to smooth down my hair, works great for that, Aveda Hang Straight - GREAT when blowdrying to stretch the hair, I use a little as a leave in on natural hair with the Damage Control spray (GREAT)

I'm still trying to find the best routine for the Anti Humectant and probably won't use this again until winter time...may be the only time I straighten because of humidity. Spray on shine has been neglected but I'm planning on using that more.

Just bought: Flax seed aloe gel and humectant pomade. I already have plans for both.

HITS

Ion Reconstructor Keratin Rebuilder
Profectiv MegaGrowth Deep Conditioner - tentative hit for now. I used it last night. Love the way my hair felt as soon as I applied it. Good slip. Rinsed easily. Hair felt great, soft and strong but moisturized, too. I am going to keep using this for now. I think I'm going to continue liking it.

Talipoohz_Momma wrote: Hit AND Miss: Marshall's! It's a hit b/c they're now selling Redken, Wella, Nioxin, Rusk, AND MORE for CHEAP! It's a miss b/c I'm broke and didn't need to see that :nono:...

Co-signing on this as I was in Marshall's Saturday and they had more professional products in there than I had ever seen there before. I almost lost my mind. They also had Healthy, Sexy Hair, ABBA, Joico and several more in addition to the above. I tried to remember them all so I could post, but I can't.

I buy a lot of products from Marshalls. I even got Chi silk infusion for $5.99. And Nexxus Humectress for $4.99

Revisited Hit: Surge! I've been using them on my temples for about a week now and I can already see a difference. The right side of my temple was thicker than my left and left looks bald compared to the other side. But not anymore. My hairline is evening out and growing back in. I usually dont see this until I'm 8 weeks post relaxer and once I relax, it gets uneven/bald looking on one side. Yay!:drunk:

HUGE MISS!

Co-Washing, my hair just doesn't like it! And while I'm at it: MOTIONS MOISTURE PLUS. There was nothing moisturizing or that could be called a plus about this stuff in my hair! It tangled and knotted it. I lost a ton of hair rinsing it out.

Also, I'm sure Suave Professionals Humectant works for someone, but not me. I'll stick to Generic Humectress from Sallys.

One more thing: I'm sure L'Oreal Vive Pro Smooth Intense is good for regular conditioning, but, it too is not for co-washes. It acted like a mix of paste and glue in my hair. It was very hard, no moisturizing properties at all.

Soon as that stuff hit my hair (WRTC), it became soft, silky, and easy to detangle! Only thing I hate, is that I bought like 10 bottle of VO5 KWI & LIME conditioner for co-washes!!!:wallbash:

I am so happy it worked for you. (I know what you mean about those over stocks! :ohwell:)

Did you use it with heat? I have been using this for a month with heat and it literally melts my tangles away. I get sooooooo much slip when I use it. I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Did you use the Motions Moisture Plus in the tub???
What did you use to co-wash with. Was it the L'Oreal? You have to be careful what you use for a cowash. I find the cheapie conditioners are the only thing I can cowash with. (V05 and WRTC)

I am just sorry your whole post was a Miss! Darn it. There is nothig better (well almost) than finally finding the products that agree with your hair. I want you to have a hit this month. :detective: Happy Hunting!

  Heat is a must for me. (Plus I use the tub not the bottle.:nono:)

Yes, I did use heat. I put on a plastic cap and sat under my dryer for 15 minutes. It was the MMP in the tub.

Wednesday I co-washed with L'Oreal Vive Pro. Today I co-washed with Suave Professionals Humectant. Both gave me about the same results, only MMP messed up today''s try even more. I use either Suave Tropical Coconut or WRTC for pre-poos with oil. I did a co-wash with them twice when Nexxus Headdress turned my freshly washed and dried hair to gum. I didn't want to wash and DC again. The co-wash worked that time. I think I'm going to keep it at that, just to correct mistakes. Not as part of my regular routine. Therappe has never given me these problems.

I will have Hits too. I've been posting all my hits and misses toward the end of the month together. This week got me so fustrated, I started my thread about co-washing, then figured I'd come in here and unload on you all too. I didn't mean to bring anyone down.

I used my MMP from the tub the other week and it didn't work out too hot. I think I used TOO much, because it was like plastic rinsing out. Seriously. My hair felt too coated afterwards.

I was trying to be like LHCF and be overly heavy-handed and it didn't work for me. I am gonna go back to being moderately heave-handed. Being super heavy handed works for humecto, but not MMP. Well atleast in my opinion.

I have another HIT:

KMS Curl Up Curling Balm - Very good ingredients, smells great, dries to a soft finish

It's okay. :groupghug: I just hate to see so many misses in one post. I know it can get frustrating.

MISS:
Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Balm Yep, Jada HAD to be lying about this crap! This high-a$$ stuff left my hair dry AND greasy. I also smelled this crap ALL night. Reminded me of Vaseline gone wrong... Um, how much worse can it get? I already had a bad experience with Bigen, 5-in-1, and Humecto. Now this? I just decided not to go on my hair shopping trip today... LOL, only at LHCF would people go on such excursions!

Re-visited Hit:
Motions Moisture Plus I had an "old" bottle and grabbed it b/c I was running late and was just gonna airdry before work. I got slip, and my hair was pretty moist.

Hits: universal styling creme and ORS replenshing pack (the best) mizani butter blend relaxer system.

Isn't this discontinued now? I alwasy wanted to try it and as soon as I tried to look for it, I could not find it anymore.

Is it? Darn! I bought it at the beginning of this month from a Duane Reade (hehe) in Harlem. I'll go back and double check to see if they're going to carry it anymore. If I would have known, I would have picked up a few extra bottles, this stuff isg reat!
