August 2007 Hits & Misses

HIT: Eqyss megatek & avocado mist! The avocado mist leaves my hair so moist and soft!

ETA: I'll be back later with a review of the survivor detangler I'm waiting for it to arrive.

:yay: Those are my favorites! The rehydrant is good too. :yep:

HIT: Aubrey Organics Swimmers Shampoo & Conditioner. I have been taking my son to swim classes (we are in our second week) and I have to get in the pool with him. This has kept my hair strong and soft through daily washes.

Natures Brew Hair Butter is a very good natural moisturizer. Soaks in well, not too heavy, and a little goes a long way. Good stuff!

Big Hit: My Sulfur 8/Lenzi's Request/Frenchees/Emu Oil/African Royale Hot Oil 6 concoction...

I simply took the remainder of my LR and added a small tub of regular Sulfur 8 and a small tub of Frenchees. Frenchees is really thick and smells bad, so I added some emu oil to lessen the thickness and a bit of African Royale Hot Oil 6. The consistency is nice and soft and the smell is nearly non-existant. I'm trying to use up all my products.

So I have been using this mixture for nearly a month, about 3 days a week, and my NG is out of control at only 4 weeks post!:eek:

Really??!!??? So you'd recommend AB over Pure Abundance and the others? I've thought about addig AB to my AVEDA regimen...:yep:

I haven't tried PA. But AB bets DR hands down. I went in to get SI and black woman with a beautiful 4b natural convinced me to try AB. She said it was much more moisturizing. SI had cones a little higher in the ingredient list than I'm comfortable with so I decided to take her suggestion. I'm SOOOO glad. I absolutely love it! I'm gonna hug her the next time I see her. She's probably going to freak out. :drunk:

Sareca,
ITA agree with you & the sales lady. Aveda Brilliant conditioner is the BOMB  I used it yesterday....the more I use it the more I'm feeling this over the DR conditioner. Have you tried mixing the 2 together.....NICE :lick:

Hit:
Pantene breakage defense is wonderful

BB Moisturizer
is great, i can't believe it took me so long to discover this

Caruso rollers
are my first hair love, this is another that took me years to find and now, I don't see how I lived without them. :)

CON:
I used this once before and it was great but I started using other things and could not wait to go back. this is a keeper forever

Miss:

I actually tried mixing them together and liked it also. DR doesn't give me much moisture so I always use Brilliant after. Brilliant is LOVE!!!!!

I hadn't, but I will try it tonight! :)

HIT: Aveda Brilliant has just replaced Aveda DR in my regimen. :hide:

I have this set. I got it the last time I got a double points certificate and I look forward to trying. I already love the styling cream and I look forward to using the shampoo and conditioner.

Do you love the set or just the conditioner?

What!? More moisturizing & better than DR!!!
You know you're making me want to put on my shoes and head on down to Aveda right? :look:

Huge Hit (at least for the detangling factor) :Pantene Relaxed and Natural Hair Mask.....I finally understand the phrase "like butter". We'll see how the hair looks and feels tomorrow but its a keeper regardless.

I am glad you liked it. I love this stuff. It acually works better if you mix a touch of keraphix into it. I did that last night.

Thanks! for the review I will pick up a jar this week.

.....and so shall I!!!!......
*ready to fire up the BOGO coupons!!!!!*

The proclaim is on sale at Sally's through through the end of the month!

Gurl! I know! I had my cousin go to the Sally's in Long Island and it was ONE bottle on the shelf - I told her to buy it. I have to check if she went back - tmrw is the last day :nono:

Hit:
Garnier Length & Strength leave-in: I don't understand why I stopped using this? The pj in me decided to purchase another bottle and I like it all over again. Very creamy like I remember, I just used 2 dollops throughout my hair post wash and the smell is heavenly. I also like the detangling action of the cream too. :yep:

HIT: Aveda Sap Moss (the entire line). I especially liked the nourishing concentrate as a pre-poo! It made detangling a breeze, and I'm working with 16 weeks of newgrowth

I don't know why either...

I have my 3 bottles in the "supply closet" :look:

Hit AND Miss: Marshall's! It's a hit b/c they're now selling Redken, Wella, Nioxin, Rusk, AND MORE for CHEAP! It's a miss b/c I'm broke and didn't need to see that :nono:...

Hits: Renutrients Replenishing Style Creme. This one was shocking b/c it's by LUSTER'S-- you know, Pink Oil originators?! Yeah. But I won an auction on eBay with the idea of just obtaining the "good" products. B/c I'm a pj I decided to try everything (I won KeraCare, Dudley's, Carol's Daughter and more for a steal! Oh, that's a hit, too :yep:!), and I was too lazy to go to the bathroom and find my Mizani, KeraCare, OR Design Essentials nightly products. I woke up to sleek, moisturized hair (I sealed with my "KeraCare-like" oil).

Motions CPR Lotion. Okay, this time I actually made it to the bathroom before going to sleep only to find out my hair stuff was in the living room :ohwell:. So, being lazy bum I am I grabbed this stuff that I'm shocked that I hadn't thrown or given away to begin with. To my suprise it strengthened my hair, and it also didn't feel particularly dry like expected (sealed with actual KeraCare oil). Considering I'm lazy and this stuff was $2.99 or less, a sista can't complain!

Misses:
Non-tingling "scalp soothing hairdresses"!!!!
Being lazy! :wallbash:

This month I will be trying Luster's Renutrient Oil Sheen and wax styling stick, The Body Shop Coconut Shine Cream, Redken Dandruff Relief Shampoo, Pantene Relaxed and Natural Oil Sheen, re-visiting co-washing (b/c I've been so lazy), reporting on my seaweed capsules, and adding Flax Seed Oil to my regimine. I'm sure some more products will pop up, and I'll gladly review them for ya'll!

August isn't even here yet.

That's what I'm thinking :ohwell:. It really confuses me.

For the people who have posted their Hits/Misses now, shouldn't they be for July? I thought that if one had a Hit/Miss during that month, then they should post for that month.....not posting a hit/miss in December when you used it in October (example).

I've always thought the Hit and Miss threads were pretty casual. It really does not matter to me if someone tried something new the last week in July and it is posted in August. Actually if someone tried something new at the end of July and will be using it in August, I would prefer to see it in the August thread so that we can all see it. Honestly the monthly hits thread get old at the end and I think people are just excited to share the new stuff they are using.
