No don't do approved methods! Can't get rich that way.
Show stuff where you muck up real bad, and break all the rules. Then the people can hate on you and get you paid. You should name your channel "Rebellion:How to break the rules of the LHCF Bible and Still Go To LHCF Heaven"
I joke:yep:...I did subscribe to her channel because of a good thread gone bad on here about her. I like her makeup tutorials.

ETA: taz007, you beat me to it!

:lachen::lachen::lachen: To be honest, I did toy with the idea of starting a YT channel a while back but now everybody and their mama has one and is trying to be the authority on hair, makeup, food, etc. I mean I wouldn't be opposed to showing people what has worked/or does work for me but IDK if I'd want to be subject to all this scrutiny either especially since I'd just be showing my opinion. I'm no professional. IDK how I feel about that. I also didn't think people would find me interesting enough to watch.

I think a lot of people are over the Ateyaaa drama now. Even people who don't agree with her hair practices (including me) are on board with the movement of "just leave the girl alone, and let her do her thang." If you don't like her videos, don't watch. It's really just that simple.

Regardless of how I or anyone feels about her practices, she had a setback, and I feel sorry for her hair, cause I know how having a setback feels. It's very frustrating for anyone to have to go through. You live and you learn.

If people want to follow everything she does and do what she does to their hair, then let them, please. Only in time will they see if it was the best decision for them. It's a gamble. Either 1) their hair will break off and thin out or 2) their hair will thrive and continue to reach great lengths.

Different strokes for different folks. I know we all want to help and "warn" people about bad/unpopular practices, but if no one wants to listen then there's nothing you can do but let them do them, and let them learn from their own mistakes.

We've all had to learn from our own mistakes. I just wish I was gettin paid for mine, lol.

You and me both. It can happen to anybody. The majority of the people on this board have experienced at least one setback. Most of the time that's what brings people here in the first place.

I really wish she would join the board since she has a large fan base. Although I don't agree with her practices, I don't think that's grounds for her being chased away from here. Everyone is different. Ateyaaa has potential to reach literally thousands of people and spread the word of healthy hair care. She could get a wealth of information from this board on how she nourished her hair back to health, and then share it with her YT fans.

In all honesty, the proof is in the pictures. Her hair now doesn't look like it did last year when she first started doing videos.

You ain't lyin'. I would have made a killing. :lachen:

How do you spell her name? There seems to be 234987 different variations on this thread!

LOL. Her name is Ateya. She said that it's spelled Ateyaaa on YT b/c someone else had the name.

Not that I was paying attention to what she said. :sekret: :lachen:

I honestly don't think she would be comfortable being an active member on here..neither would any of the other people that have been bashed on here about their youtube videos. People are offering her advice but she has to make the decision herself if she wants to get her hair back on track.

We have chased away quite a few people from youtube who would have made good members due to the high and mighty attitude. I'm all about telling the truth and helping if you can, but the way we go about it with people on youtube is really ridiculous.

Just to be clear. YouTube partners get paid miniscule amounts of money. The money comes from the google ads (just like any blog or message board with the same ads.) I can't imagine that anyone purposely clicks the ads on YouTube. So realistically, someone with Ateya's view is making literal change.

I don't want you all to think that with all of the partners on YouTube that people are getting wealth just because you watch, that's not true at all.

In fact, one of the highest paid bloggers on YouTube is Mr. Safety. He makes about $65K a MONTH on average and YouTube is his job now. That's ridiculously rare. Makeup Youtubers like Panacea81 (probably the most popular makeup guru on there) are making scraps from YouTube. Anything she has made come from the after results from being on YouTube.

So, no, you're not making Ateya rich.

OT: I like her videos a lot. I don't watch them as often as I used to, though.

First off, why was the video 23 mins? The actual style turned out nice in the end. I'd wear it. I probably wouldn't wear a straight bang with a crinkly ponytail but it looked nice on her.

As far as methods go, I've never seen anybody GEL a track in. :look: I guess it's better than gluing it. I wouldn't have left my hair out in the middle or flat ironed it. Protective style to me means no heat or unnecessary stuff done to my hair. But I understand why she did it when she was initially going for the straight look. I would have just made a little bun out of my hair.

But outside of those things, I don't see what the big deal is. The way she did the actual ponytail is the same way I do mine, and the same way they were done on my relaxed hair back in the day and I never had any problems. I haven't used brown protein gel since I was a teenager though. I had switched over to the clear kind and now I use Fantasia IC or EcoStyler (which is a protein gel that ppl use here on the board so wth?!?). But I do my ponytails the same way. I pull back wet hair with a ponytail holder (She did not use a rubberband people. She even showed it in the camera.) and then pin the ponytail on. I'm not bald headed as a result. I wear buns and phony ponies all the time.

I guess some people just HAVE to find something to nitpick about. And I think it has something to do with having an issue with Ateeya period. Outside of her gelling that track in the front for the swoop how is her video any different from this one?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFtYp7v7aRY

But I'm sure we'd all agree with prettydimples' methods. IMO, her methods would be LHCF approved and she's a licensed stylist so that gives her more credibility.

I had never heard of her...just watched the video and subscribed to see what else she's got! Thanks for the link

Donations can make you rich though. :look: But hey, I've donated to a few sites so it just depends on the individual but it seems everyone out here now is out to make a living off blogging..youtube..live blog channels..reality tv

She was here before...last summer if I recall correctly. And all those threads ended up locked or disappeared because folks don't know how to act right.

The problem is not even the tone or the way people talk to her and about her. It's actually the bold. There's this assumption (that comes from having a certain LHCF high and mighty attitude) that there is something wrong with her hair and it needs to get "back on track". When in reality (especially before her recent setback) homegirl probably thought her hair was just fine.

I may not like her hair or her techniques, but I don't like a lot of y'alls hair or techniques. But I don't assume that you have a hair issue that needs to be "fixed" just because I think my practices are better.

Ateya don't even want y'alls stanky "advice". Leave the girl alone.

I just watched one of her videos. The lady is obviously highly skilled but some women can be so nasty, there are so many catty comments on her videos!

It is very clear to her and everyone else that she has had a set back from this last sew in..no doubt about that at all. Her hair seemed to be doing well prior to that..even with all the Aphoghee, heat, etc that people are bashing her for. And personally, I don't have the LHCF high and mighty attitude you speak of but it doesn't take that type of an attitude to see that her hair is not like it was and she needs to figure out a way to "get it back on track" if that is what she chooses to do.

This pretty much sums it all up, couldn't agree more.

i thought she used a goody band? thats what i heard her say..

Yes it was. I got a good look at it because she popped two by accident and went for a third one.

I love her vids myself, even though my practices differ from hers. No two heads of hair are alike... shoot no head even has only one texture on it! Many of us have at least two textures... but I digress... yes, it was a Goody :look:

OMG ladies..can we PLEASE get back to the original question? Do yall use rubberbands on wet hair? If you read the original post you we see that it said..SHE WAS LOOKING FOR A RUBBERBAND TO PUT ON HER HAIR, BUT COULDN'T FIND IT..SO SHE USED THE GOODY BAND INSTEAD. Which made me post the question, again: WOULD YOU USE RUBBERBANDS ON YOUR WET HAIR? The only reason why I post the video..is because I wanted you to see how wet her hair was..and the style she was wearing it. I never thought I would say this..but I hope this thread would get locked..because it's not serving it's purpose AT ALL.

I thought that was what you were referring to when you meant back on track. The setback with the sew in. But I see msa's point too in regards to some of the other posts made here on the board.

NO. LHCFers do not use rubberbands on their hair at all. Wet or Dry. Only ouchless goody bands without the metal part or cut pieces of pantyhose.

Let me just be the first to tell you that no Ateyaa question or thread usually gets answered quick and to the point. It's just the way it goes  but to help.... my answer is, "NO, I don't".

Sorry, but that's the way a thread is going to go if you put Ateya in the title. I'm not trying to be offensive, but since you put her name in the title, I have a feeling that you may have known the thread would go that way. I'm assuming that when you put her name in the title that you knew it was an attention-getter so people would come in to read the thread, which makes me believe that you've read other threads on her. All of her threads have been somewhat inflammatory (so to speak), so we all know that if her name is put in the title of a thread that everyone is going to go in there and give their opinion. Definitely not trying to be mean OP, but that's the way it goes (IF you didn't already know that).

I don't think anyone would be wise to put a rubberband (and actual rubberband) in their wet hair. However, I don't think that many people on a hair board are really going to admit that if they do.

No, I do not use rubberbands at all on my hair, wet or dry. I can only use the "Ouchless" Goody bands on dry hair. My hair is too thin to be banded when wet.

I have to say...I try not to get too ugly on these threads but........................ATEYA HAS NEVER CLAIMED TO BE A GURU OR EXPERT! She shows you what she does and you in turn can follow her lead or say "hell to the no" and do your own thing. I never understand why some are so critical of her? And I know that we are all entitled to our opinion but some people seem to take everything she does so extra serious and offensively and it baffles me.

Sorry OP, I did not answer your question. No, I do not use rubberbands on my hair, wet or dry. I only use Goody ouchless bands.
