Maybe she doesn't want to come over here because of how judgmental and harsh some of the members on here can be sometimes....

ETA: I love watching her videos because of her personality, and some of her makeup looks are very pretty. But I know better than to follow any advice about hair from her videos because:
1. I am natural
2. I am going for a completely different look than she has
3. I opt for methods that will allow healthy hair growth, rather than what looks good for a few weeks.

My point is if you don't like her methods that's fine, everyone has a right to their opinion, just don't knock her for it. And yeah she puts herself out there for the whole world to see but that doesn't make it ok to criticize and berate her. Try putting yourself out there like that and see how you like being put on blast...

I'm pretty sure that could be the reason why. I think she's seen all the negative comments about her over here. I wouldn't join either, lol.

Lawd have mercy! Are you guys going to critique every little thing that woman does?!

To answer the question, yes I have and my hair is still past APL, healthy, and has not broken off because of it. I don't practice every LHCF rule, I do what works for me and Ateya has said the same.

I don't think she was doing a critique but asking a question. I love Ateya's PAST videos but the more recent ones haven't been fille dwith much helpful info. I used to use rubber bands on wet hair back in the day when I wore ponytails. I can't really say if I had damaged hair back then though...I didn't take care of my hair then :look:

Lord I wish she would just disappear :perplexed. I think threads are started on her to get the board riled up and hits to her site .

This thread will be gone by the end of the week. But she will get mission accomplished from all the attention and banter about what she should and should not do to HER hair.

personally i was looking forward to this post because i look to ateyaa for a bunch of stuff but i like the second opinion of lhcf. i dont think its entirely an Ateyaa lynch mob over here, but because she portrays herself as someone who knows how to take care of hair can you fault people for openly critiquing a video that was purposely uploaded for the public's viewing? naaah not at all

and she's not the only youtuber that's been questioned on her methods, she's just the most active updater

:clapping: ITA, I think she is attacked but it's not just here but anywhere. It's a public video so it's up for pulic critique. I don't think it would be such a big deal if she had a little more knowledge about what she was doing before making the hair videos. I didn't know about LHCF for a while and I researched the internet and found other boards with loads of information that I never knew.

i swear she is a lost sole members on this forum have told her the address to the site many times now and if she dont get it now i guess she never will i give up on her she dont want to be helped:nono:

Yea but after that BIIIIIG showdown the first time her name was mentioned on this site...would you blame her for not coming here? LOL I don't :lachen: I actually think they had to not only lock that thread but delete it too. She made a video addressing "us" to lol :lachen:

Why do people have to post and nitpick about everything she does? If you don't like her methods, don't watch her videos. She's probably over here reading this thread now.

Before LHCF (in my late teens and early twenties) I used to put gobs of TCB super- strength relaxer in my hair when the front would wave up. I did this like every 3-4 weeks. Nothing ever happened. Some peoples hair are more resistant than others. While I do not condone using rubber-bands I pick and choose what advice I follow from Ateyaa and other YouTubers'. I have learned a lot from Ateyaa but haircare is like food shopping. You use what works for you. Also, as someone mentioned she used an Ouchie or Goody-like hairband. :)

There were some mean comments written on her youtube. That makes me feel bad because she is such a NICE person. She's just making videos on how she cares for her hair. The best a person can do is maybe PM her to give her FRIENDLY suggestions on healthy hair practices, and I'm sure she'd be all ears. She seems very humble and willing to take advice, but being harsh to her and insulting her on her youtube page is really mean. On one of her videos someone even suggested that she stop by and visit LHCF because we have great tips on how to care for hair. Suppose she does come here and sees all the threads started about her and some of the comments written? The way I see it, I just want to help people. I don't want to cut them down or make them feel ashamed or embarrassed of their practices. Just discreetly tell her that you feel her practices aren't the best, and I'm sure she will thank you for being concerned about her hair and it's health :yep:.

Listen, I'm gonna need you to stop making sense. You hear? :lachen:

You know it doesn't matter how many times you say it. People are still going to feel the same way. I don't think anyone in this particular thread has gotten like those OTHER Ateya threads have, but I'm just saying in general. You can say the above until you're blue in the face. The same thing is just going to go on and on and on.

The sad thing is that I know that, and I usually don't comment in the Ateya threads because of it. I just felt I had to say something in her defense because I followed the link posted and saw some mean comments, and I'm the type of person that can only take so much of nice people getting bullied. I don't believe that this thread was started out of ill-intent or to be mean. I just wanted to offer some encouraging suggestions and try to prevent any one of our ladies from posting potentially mean comments on Ateya's page, if possible. Mean things that people say can be true, but there are ways of getting a message across without having to resort to making others feel bad. That's all I was trying to say :).

I liked that ponytail :look: *runs out of thread*
I'm running with you cuz I thought it was cute. I wouldn't do it but the finished look was cute. I can't figure out what all the bashing was about....the gel maybe? Whatever.

That video was long, lol. It took me forever to get to the end....I kept getting distracted, lol. I just realized it was 23 minutes long.

I don't think Ateyaa needs any help with her hair. Before the wash, after the sew in, her hair was beautiful and doing great. She just needed to learn how to wash her hair after a sew in. And she did. So now she's working on getting her hair back in shape, and I don't doubt that she will.. it will be swanging in no time. She does some things that many here don't like but her techniques certainly works for her.

I think they should put a ban on Ateya videos here. Why are people scrutinizing this child's every move.

OMG Ateya just wiped back to front! Is this okay!?!?!

Umm, do what's best for YOUR hair.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it they way she did but it was very pretty *runs out again*:lachen:

Sure it's okay, if you want problems! :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:You crack me up!!!!!

I can see both sides. Ateya does seem like a nice, sweet person, but her hair is a HAM right now, and no matter how much she stresses that her methods work for her, a lot of lost women and girls will see her videos and copy her methods, and end up with a HAM on their heads too. Her hair was beautiful, and it will be interesting to see if she can get back to that, but now she looks like someone who needs a big chop.

On the other hand, if her videos make someone upset to the point of frenzy and hysteria, they should definitely KIM!

And I know there is a middle ground between JELLIS HATERZ!!!111! and people who simply don't like her methods. Anytime you put yourself out there in the public, you are going to get criticism. I'm sure her skin has thickened up by now, or else she would have quit posting videos.

And that's on them if they choose to follow her. She is not a doctor or a licensed professional so she is not required to show anybody the "right" way, with right being relative of course. Anything you see or read online needs to be taken with a grain of salt and done at your own risk. Shoot you could say that for anything you see or are told in real life too. People need to do their own research and decide what's best for them. I wouldn't just watch one person's videos and follow it like the bible. Multiple points of view are always better.

I definitely agree! I just know how frustrating this hair journey can be. I know I was so happy to find this place that I spent money on things that didn't work for me, just because it seemed to work for someone else. That's my fault of course, but we all know there is so much emotion behind our hair! I would love to keep people from making the same mistakes I made over the years, and I think that is why people critique Ateya. I know some of it is mean, but I think some people just want to correct misinformation.

Totally agree to the bolded.

You know, there are 5 things that I teach my children (and they are only 4 years old) are the foundations of a successful life:

1) Do not lie
2) Do not steal
3) Treat people the way that you want to be treated
4) If people ask for your opinion, see #1 but remember #3
5) Do not think that people are dumber than you are.

I think #5 applies in this situation. If we know (or think that we know) that what Ateeya does to her her is bad practice, what makes us think that other people don't know this as well??!! And if they do not know, they will learn as we did.

This is all that I am going to say in this post.

I had to watch the video too. The ponytail is cute, I just don't agree with her method of getting the style.

Go watch it and see what you think.....I don't think it was bad, I liked it. It was really cute after she crimped it.

First off, why was the video 23 mins? The actual style turned out nice in the end. I'd wear it. I probably wouldn't wear a straight bang with a crinkly ponytail but it looked nice on her.

As far as methods go, I've never seen anybody GEL a track in. :look: I guess it's better than gluing it. I wouldn't have left my hair out in the middle or flat ironed it. Protective style to me means no heat or unnecessary stuff done to my hair. But I understand why she did it when she was initially going for the straight look. I would have just made a little bun out of my hair.

But outside of those things, I don't see what the big deal is. The way she did the actual ponytail is the same way I do mine, and the same way they were done on my relaxed hair back in the day and I never had any problems. I haven't used brown protein gel since I was a teenager though. I had switched over to the clear kind and now I use Fantasia IC or EcoStyler (which is a protein gel that ppl use here on the board so wth?!?). But I do my ponytails the same way. I pull back wet hair with a ponytail holder (She did not use a rubberband people. She even showed it in the camera.) and then pin the ponytail on. I'm not bald headed as a result. I wear buns and phony ponies all the time.

I guess some people just HAVE to find something to nitpick about. And I think it has something to do with having an issue with Ateeya period. Outside of her gelling that track in the front for the swoop how is her video any different from this one?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFtYp7v7aRY

But I'm sure we'd all agree with prettydimples' methods. IMO, her methods would be LHCF approved and she's a licensed stylist so that gives her more credibility.
