It makes no sense to me that you have been lurking since last year and still making those kinds of statements.

As far as rituals? There are MANY women on here who keep it VERY simple and you should/would know that if you stuck around and dug deeper.

Yeah i asked myself the same questions until i joined this board, then let go of my ignorance, and RESEARCHED.

I agree. No offense OP but I would think after a year you wouldnt ask this type of question but maybe you werent reading the boards like that.

Yes false hopes meaning you see a "black" woman with long flowing hair and you think maybe one day I will have hair her. Then you come to find out she had a little help from mother nature..she's mixed! Yall can say what you want, but people who are mixed or people with looser curl hair grows faster. I guess that's what the term good hair or growing hair comes from.

:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash: I'm speechless...there's absolutely no respectful way I can reply to such a comment, but since I choose to be respectful at all times. Welcome to LHCF, there are so many great women on here who give awesome information. Hope you have a pleasant stay. :)

I don't think asking a simple question is being a troll, it's called being curious. Some of you "ladies" need to follow the model, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" then KEEP IT MOVING

It's not the fact that you asked the question.

Your join date says Mar 2008 and you asked a somewhat inflammatory/unpopular question that has been answered a thousand times. Most people who've been around here would assume you're a troll because you've been on the board over a year, have few posts, and it appeared that you were just trying to stir things up. You didn't really ask a question in the first post, you made a strong statement, like everyone here is just lying about their background.

I am mixed, just to help you along with your question.

However, to help with the myth, my sisters who did not have my grade of hair had the super long hair. Yes, they needed the hot combs and perms, I mean back in the day when my mom used the vigorol liquid perm!

I aways wanted their hair, and I was the mini pocohontas of the group.

Being mixed has nothing to do with the growth of your hair.

Well since I just became a paying member, I haven't been able to ask that question..that would explain the time frame. I'm not on here everyday, nor do I know anyone on here personally, or had the means to get know them, that's why I asked. Some people are acting like a said, "yall mixed, I don't care what yall say, case closed". In my experience that's what I have seen and been taught. I guess I will contact those who haven't been straight up RUDE ask them about their hair journey.

There is such a rude demeanor here, I can't tell you how much these ladies have thought me in hair care, and the majority of them aren't first hand mixed. If this is your feelings, what are you doing here? We are women of color, and some aren't but we are all here to motivate each other and we NEVER feed into the good hair/bad hair, this grows faster movement. I would advise you to change your tone and atleast be respectful in stating your opinion. All hair will grow at an exceptional rate with good practices. THAT IS WHAT WE BELIEVE around these corners, don't put anybody down because of racial mixture, that's not cool, if there is one thing I can say about this board, people aren't really like that in the hair care. Just....Just please...:nono:

msa, I love you for your poise and ability to keep a respectful tone, shows that you really have self control. I just don't know...I'm going to leave this thread and go give myself a scalp massage before I e-faint.

BTW, I am not mixed in terms of my immediate family. My parents are mixed; I consider myself a black woman. I have never had a problem growing my hair long. My hair grows fast, it's naturally strong and I have a very long (genetic) growth pattern.

Well I agree with Mizz Brown and I don't think it was rude for her to express her opinion. I had the exact same thought when reading your comments,If you thought this board was for mix individuals why bother to join?I know I'm not going to join a board created for the hair growth of an asian person or a white person. I also think if you felt this site was selling false hopes, then why join? Now with that being said you I will not state you should end your membership,I don't have that right.

OP, bottomline if you think that you have bad hair or your hair just wont grow because you're not mixed, then that will be your reality.

I know some people won't like this question, but are some of yall mixed. When I say mixed I mean maybe 1/4 asian/white..or something other than black. I think all of us know that this makes a major difference in hair growth. I don't really think it's right to give people false hopes. Just a question.
Not even a bit.

Never said that anyone was lying about their background. It was a Question! (Are yall mixed? (question mark at the end). Like I also stated before..i was not a paying member. I "joined" the forum, but wasn't able to post. I would come on here just to see the new hair products/or hair technics and went about my day. I don't think my question was that off the wall,it's not like I asked "hey are yall skin naturally brown", because obviously from most people's observation they will know the answer and from my personal experience.Where I'm from, long hair and "pure black" women haven't been the norm, unless you took a trip to visit a Korean, if you know what I mean.

Yes, I'm mixed...but my mother, who is 100% Latina, has a 4z hair type and I'm a 3b/3c/4a mix!! So, ethnicity doesn't have anything to do with hair types... If I could wish one thing for black women it would be for them to travel outside the U.S.-- to Panama, Brazil, the Dominican, and gain a broader perspective of the world!

Lenny Kravitz is biracial and has what looks like 4b hair. So do a lot of biracial people. I also know that the huge market of hair products to help grow hair isn't just targeted to the "ethnic" market. Pantene has made their name telling straight haired girls if they use their products, their hair will become longer and stronger.

I am only uniracial. [laugh] Both of my parents are black. In the 70s, my dad had an AWESOME fro. My mom's hair grows fast, but she doesn't get the retention. 2 of my Aunts (who were also black) would retain length and got past shoulder length.

Back in the 90s, when I was in high school and guys cornrowing their hair was really, really big, I'd see these guys with long kinky hair "letting" their girls braid their hair.

Well just cheroke indian..Thats basically the same as being African American and my grandpa has good hair but i dont :( he has that soft curly hair hes full indian

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but she never came off as rude to me in her first post. She may have gotten ruder as time went on because people kept talking about her join date and things. Anyways to answer the OP's question, No I'm not mixed at all. 100% Black!!!

The whole thing about us "giving people false hope" had me:nono: This is why I dont tell people about this site.

I don't recall putting anyone down who was mixed. I just said they seem to have an easier time growing hair. I didn't say they didn't take care of their or whatever. I do not find my demeanor rude, however I do find being called a TROLL and being told to close my account rude. It is a question. If some don't like the question, you don't have to answer.

My mom is Chinese/East Indian and my dad is white (Scottish & German). I'm not black, I just tan. Yall are good, I ain't even wasting the key strokes trying to change her mind. Happy growing too all, 100% negros and mixed chicks alike. :lachen:

If I told people about this site and they read one or two threads people would think I'm straight up crazy for believing.

I told one friend and she said a hair website was stupid and all I needed to do was cut my hair every 8 weeks and it would grow back fast:ohwell:
