Yeah, maybe you'll like it for bunning. You're right about the smell, it is kinda different. I actually like it, to me almost smells like a delicate food smell, weird I know.

Maybe they were shooting for a carrot cake scent? :look:

That is what I was thinking too.

Miss: Surge Woojee Cream. This didn't add much moisture at all to my hair. It is very thin and watery also. :nono: :nono: I dont think I will try to use this up. It is headed to the trash.:perplexed

I'm going to have to try that mix...I have those products already. :scratchch I won't do til I take these braids out tho' :look:

Hey, I used jojoba oil (Hobacare brand) and a little of Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil and of course the sodium lactate. I actually got the tip about mixing sodium lactate with butters on another site--supposedly it makes the butter more moisturizing...and it does. I've tried it mixed with just oils before and my hair wasn't as moisturized.

I did not like that stuff either. And I also threw it out. It was kinda sticky, too. :nono: I just was not impressed.

Since the month is winding down, I guess I can talk about something

Hits
Sunsilk Anti-Poof line- I really like this line, all of the products. The shampoo was very moisturizing and did not feel heavy or leave a buildup.

The conditioner was good too, but not so much where I would start stockpiling it. The 24/7 Cream I like the best. It's a good moisturizer and doesn't really have a smell or leave a film

African Pride Blends Carrot Oil and Vitamin E Conditioner- This is an excellent moisturizer. The smell is not too hot, but it's easy to get over.

Fingercombing - makes my hair less frizzy and more defined.

Misses
Herbal Essence Moisturizing Conditioner - This is one of the older formulas, and I can definitely see why this one was discontinued. Pure crap. My hair was not moisturized at all, it actually was harder and crunchier.

On the Fence
Africa's Best Organics Olive Oil (in the jar) - I really think I need to be more consistent when using it and applying it differently before I make a definitive assessment

Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner - I don't want to label it a miss, but I really think this is just one of those products that my relaxed hair love an my natural hair just hates unless it's diluted

Still Experimenting
TRESemme Vitamin E Moisture Rich Conditioner
Sunsilk Hydra TLC 24/7 Cream

HIT: Aveda Damage Remedy Shampoo, Conditioner, and Intensive Treatment. I bought the treatment and got samples of the poo/con this past weekend. I was really skeptical cause this has cones and the treatment felt sticky and waxy. I used it last night and air dried. Today my hair is so silky and shiny, I had to take my bun down and let it hang. I'm trippin big time.

Not much new to post this month, my hair is happy...VERY happy!

Hits

Optimum Multi-Mineral Relaxer (Regular)
Viviscal (Two weeks post retouch I have about 3/16" new growth in my crown and 1/2" in the back) (new growth doesn't usually show up until week 5 or 6) :bouncy:
Full Baggy overnight...

Revisits

Castor Oil
Cantu Break Cure (Thanks to SugaRose for showing me where I could find this locally!)

Misses

Nada!!

Oh yeah, my hair is really loving this too! It's so soft every morning it's ridiculous.

Another hit:
BANTU KNOT SETS!

I will be sure to take a pic this evening and post it. I still haven't mastered the braidout, but this gives me an option to wear a semi-"out" style that's really cute!

Hit:
Finding Loreal Vive for Women of Color Shampoo/Conditioner in Dollar Tree!

I havent seen this stuff since 05, I used to love it

Finally got my hands on some Organix conditioners. Shea and Vanilla Silk. These are some of the most moisturizing conditioners I have ever used. I especially love the Shea. Excellent. Can't wait to try the Coconut.

Hi Brownie518, Send me a link please. What is this? I have never heard of this conditioners but they look very interesting. Thanks Thanks.

Hit: Elasta QP Cream Conditioning Shampoo!!!!

I'm loving it, it is SLS free, it really is quite moisturizing, and smells better than CON. I don't know if it leaves a build-up like CON, but I clarify regularly so I don't think it will be a problem. At $2 a bottle, I believe I will be replacing my lovely NTM Cream Lather shampoo.

Another HIT: JCPenney's salon! They sent a coupon for $10 off a $10 purchase, so I went and grabbed some Keracare Humecto. When I got to the counter, the young lady said "Would you like to add another product for $0.88?" I grabbed the Keracare shampoo, and my total came up to $0.94!!! I have one more coupon and will be going back for some phyto organics products.

Someone tell me how to do this... my hair has been dry lately...

Thanks!

It's super easy. It's exactly that - a whole head version of the baggy method. You just add a little moisturizer and oil to your hair at night, and place a baggie (plastic cap) on it overnight. You can tie a scarf over the baggie to reduce the crinkling noise. This method helps to trap moisture into your hair. When you take the baggie off in the morning, your hair is super soft and moisturized.

Here's the link to the 3-Month Baggy Challenge, lots of tips/tricks in there:

I must try this.

Me, too. I roller my hair at night. I wonder if I can do a full baggy with rollers.

Anyway HIT HIT HIT:

My pink Solia! I have been having rouble getting my hair straight with my FHI. Maybe its old. But I use my solia and  I love the plates on it!

I think you could. I baggy with bantu knots, and I'm pretty sure some ladies have mentioned baggying while wearing rollers and other types of sets.

Hit: Henna/Alma Gloss . I used about a tablespoon of both Henna and Alma mixed some hot water, Herbal Essences conditioner and castor oil. My hair turned out a reddish brown, soft, detangled and my kinks were more defined and slightly bigger. This is a total keeper. I keep checking my pillows thinking there's gonna be red dye on it like when I get a rinse.

Dudley's PCA moisture retention...Excellent my hair feels soft and silky without the greasy feeling. I also love Parachute coconut oil. I put it on once in a while. My hair seems stronger.

Nadine, are you using the PCA on dry hair?

Hit!
VO5 Kiwi & Lime Squeeze "New Richer Formula, Softer Hair).
Luv it! No cone and it smell gooood! Finally found a cheap holy grail co-wash conditioner!!! I'm gonna have to stock up on this stuff!

On The Fence!
VO5 Tea Therapy "Vanilla mint tea"
After the rinse, it didn't feel as soft and moisturize as the "Kiwi & Lime Squeeze" conditioner. It's was cool though.

Miss!
VO5 "Blushin' Apple"
This did nothing for my hair, but just sat on top of it!

What do you use to keep your rollerst in tact? A bonnet?

is this a moisturizer or a deep conditioner?

Well, I use satin covered foam rollers so they stay in better anyway. But, I use one of these (see below) wrapped all the way around. I wrap it kinda like the way KhandiB demonstrates her CrossWrap - crossing it in the back and bringing the ends around to the front to tie. I secure that with a bandana (I know some people don't like those but they work for me. I tie it on top of the satin one to secure it all.

I wasn't a fan of the Vanilla Mint Tea...I fell so in love with the Tea Therapy and wanted to try a different clarifier (used the Kiwi since '05) -
well, the Vanilla Mint...was no Kiwi...:( and I'm mad I bought another bottle of it by accident, thinking it was the Tea Therapy conditioner :(
I consider that one a miss...but trying to think of a way to use it up:ohwell:

Will re-implement the tried and true, Kiwi and Lime for clarifying.
------------------------------------------------

And as we near the end of April...I had a solidified hit for my breakage...
it wasn't excessive...but caused worry.

This combo HIT for me seems to be doing the trick,

ApHOGEE Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer after washing (poo or co-wash)

then using daily,

NTM Leave In
Africa's Best Leave In Hair Mayo (I'm so happy Priestess poked me with her PJ stick on this one...it's such a keeper)
UBH Creme Lotion (don't know why I ever strayed)
