Anyone up for a NO TRIM challenge?

I'm glad to say I haven't even thought of picking up the scissors.
I keep my hair covered and away from me.
In about 6 months, I should be fully shoulder length and proud of myself.

When did this challenge start? LMAO, I'm doing so good so far.

I keep my ends strong with Aphogee treatments, but I am due for a henna soon.

Done. :)

How's it going for you so far?

Thank you for changing the name for me, you are really on top of things. So far I am doing great and I am so thankful for this challenge. I have not had scissors near my hair since December 2007 and I don't plan to. I am keeping my ends protected and moisturized and I don't use heat, so my ends are looking good. The trimming is what kept me from ever achieving my length goals and I never realized it. Now for the first time ever I get to turn that around. I'm excited!:yep:

No problem! Congrats on your progress thus far!

I know if I already joined this challenge, but if not I am now. How long is this challenge going to last for?

I am.

Is anyone up for a 3-6 month No Trim Challenge? We can start in April. I plan on getting my ends trimmed then and will challenge my self to not get them trimmed again until September-October (or sooner, if need be).

FYI: Dusting is allowed in this challenge!

Here's the info. :)

I am in. I just recently trimmed my ends I will have to hide my scissors so I will not cheat... smile... I have never been through a six month period without trimming my ends. i am going to try to go for a year. ok, this means my next trim will be May 2009. this is going to be hard for me, but i know i can do it.

I'm in! I've been on this challenge and didn't even know it. I haven't trimmed my ends since November 07 and my hair in the back is the longest it's been in years!

Your hair is absolutely beautiful and healthy! Thanks for sharing that info. This is the kind of encouragement I need. Trims that turned into cuts has kept me from ever being able to reach my length goals. No more!:nono:

i am still apart of the NO TRIM Challenge. Everything is good so far. Just taking care of those ends of mines! Trimless since 12/07!

BTW, i may not trim until i reach my dream lenght, which is MBL! wish me luck!

HHG Ladies!

Where the heck was this thread last month? I have dusted twice since July last year but haven't really trimmed my hair since then - so I'm definitely in this challenge. I will be dusting in July but still not doing a full trim. I haven't needed them so I don't bother - I don't try to fix something that's not broken. My stylist is itchin' to cut it just because that's what she's used to doing but I won't let her. She only gets to dust and dust only. She knows that she will lose my business if she takes off more than I ask her to. I'm very lucky because she's really good at following my instructions.

Please add me to this challenge.

Dear everyone,

Hi.

I am new to the forum.

I recently decided to stop wearing my extension braids and wear my own natural hair in a variety of heat and non-heat styles. I am in on the challenge. But I have to admit that I gave a slight dust in May before I read about this. I look forward to the results. My hair grows fast but I think that using extension braids cut back on my progress and weakened my ends.

Best,
Almond Eyes

How's it going ladies?

Doing good. Still haven't trimmed/dusted since Jan '08. Still wearing protective styles a majority of the time. Now and then I wear my hair down. I get so paranoid when I do wear it down, because I'm afraid that my ends are rubbing against my clothes and breaking :nono: I've been trying to constantly monitor my ends. I need to baggy my ends more so I can keep them intact. Being in the DC and CW challenge makes it impossible to baggy everynight because I airdry overnight, but I'm going to make sure I do baggy my ends between washes and always keep them moisturized.

Miami I'm in both these challenges as well and I baggy my whole head while it is still damp as water really is the best moisturizer for our hair. I only wait for my hair to half dry and while still a little damp I moisturize and seal then baggy my whole head but I only do this about once or twice a week. HTH.

ETA: I do a lot of protective styling as well to prevent my hair from rubbing against my clothes. Shoulder length hair is very hard to maintain if it's not protected. Luckily I am at APL but I still don't like my hair ends out against the elements too often. Wigs and braids have been the saviour of my hair when I was at shoulder length and actually, still is.

My last trim was in April, right before I started the challenge. I haven't really been monitoring my ends or moisturizing them. :spank: Bad girl, I know. I need to step my game up because I haven't be moisturizing my scalp either. I have been baggying a few nights a week, though. I just can't really get with the wet hair in the morning .

How do you air dry? Around what time do you wash your hair and how long does it take to dry? Do you use any special drying techniques? How long is your hair? You're relaxed, right?

How do you air dry? On Sundays, I rollerset and airdry the remainder of the day. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, when I cowash, I airdry overnight in the scarf method.

Around what time do you wash your hair and how long does it take to dry? On Sundays, I wash my hair in the morning and airdry the rest of the day. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I wash my hair at night, around 9 pm, after I get my kids off to bed. I'm usually done around 11 pm, so I go straight to bed with wet hair.

Do you use any special drying techniques? On Sundays, I try to go out in the sun or drive around with the windows down...if it's not raining. Otherwise, I let it airdry at home. The others days, as I mentioned, overnight, with 2 scarves tied on my head

How long is your hair? I am coming up to shoulder length.

You're relaxed, right?
Yes, I am transitioning to texlax now.

That's a great idea, Aggie! My only concern is I airdry on damp/wet hair. I don't towel dry it. Is that still ok to do a whole head baggy? Or maybe I should start to towel dry a little? Girl, I always appreciate your advice. You're always looking out for us! :yep: :thankyou:

I want to join! I never really cared to trim unless I had to (split ends/raggedy looking ends). My stylist is always asking to trim my ends and she can be so persistent about it too, its like they get a high over trimming ends. Why can't they understand, no means NO! I used to watch her like a hawk too! I would definitely do this challenge but I'm afraid of my stylist begging me when I go to get my relaxer.

My stylist is the same way. But, when I got my relaxer earlier this month, I just told her that I do not want a trim. Fortunately, she was very understanding about it. Just be blunt and tell her you don't want one and stick to your grounds!

One of the members here also told me that if I felt uncomfortable about telling her, to instead mention it to her over the phone when I made my appointment. Tell her that you just want a relaxer and no trim, despite the condition of your ends. HTH.

You're welcomed honey and oh no I don't towel dry my hair either. I simply take my towel and squeeze (not rub) the ends gently to absorb most of the water from it, then I allow it to dry a little on it's own before moisturizing and sealing, then baggy. By the time I'm ready to baggy, my hair is not dripping wet, in other words it's just slightly damp. HTH
