I'm in. This is the first time in my life I've paid this much attention to my hair and actually cared about growing it long. I was so used to my locs just growing like weeds, I never put any thought into hair being able to grow.
1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge?
I'm feeling like 2010 is a major year for me and Im undergoing a lot of changes and growth and I want my hair to be a measuring stick of that. Hopefully, this challenge will keep me on the right track. I need serious work on my edges, but I've learned some great tactics here on LCHF about protecting edges while in braids.
2. What is your current hair lenght?
Shoulder length in most places, neck length on the sides/temple. I cut bangs to nose length two months ago.
3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?
Natural (celebrating 15 years in April 2010)
4. What are your hair goals for 2010?
I want to be APL where I am SL now, SL where I am NL, and grow my bangs out to at least chin length. I want to resist my urge to color my hair. I want to use heat no more than 2-3 times in the year (one blowout in November for length check).
5. What is your hair reggie?
I do a lot of protective styling. I wear extensions about 70% of the time. I plan to continue that in 2010, probably even moreso, like maybe 85% of the time.
When its out:
DC on Sundays and decide a style for the week. If its a protective style, then that style stays in all week (twists, braids, buns). If its roller set (air dried), then I wear stretched styles (ponytails, french braids, buns etc). If I'm washing and going, I find a curl-defining product to coat it and rejuvenate as needed throughout the week, wearing mostly puffs or bunny tails.
Cowash at least 2x a week. Shampoo about 2x a month. ACV 1x a month. Deep moisturizing 1-2x a week. Daily moisturizing with a spray of some sort. Monstly finger combing, but I comb through maybe once a week when I'm rinsing out my DC.
