2010 LHCF BOOTCAMP (Ladies, lets get READY)

I'm in. This is the first time in my life I've paid this much attention to my hair and actually cared about growing it long. I was so used to my locs just growing like weeds, I never put any thought into hair being able to grow.

1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge?

I'm feeling like 2010 is a major year for me and Im undergoing a lot of changes and growth and I want my hair to be a measuring stick of that. Hopefully, this challenge will keep me on the right track. I need serious work on my edges, but I've learned some great tactics here on LCHF about protecting edges while in braids.

2. What is your current hair lenght?

Shoulder length in most places, neck length on the sides/temple. I cut bangs to nose length two months ago.

3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?

Natural (celebrating 15 years in April 2010)

4. What are your hair goals for 2010?

I want to be APL where I am SL now, SL where I am NL, and grow my bangs out to at least chin length. I want to resist my urge to color my hair. I want to use heat no more than 2-3 times in the year (one blowout in November for length check).

5. What is your hair reggie?

I do a lot of protective styling. I wear extensions about 70% of the time. I plan to continue that in 2010, probably even moreso, like maybe 85% of the time.

When its out:

DC on Sundays and decide a style for the week. If its a protective style, then that style stays in all week (twists, braids, buns). If its roller set (air dried), then I wear stretched styles (ponytails, french braids, buns etc). If I'm washing and going, I find a curl-defining product to coat it and rejuvenate as needed throughout the week, wearing mostly puffs or bunny tails.

Cowash at least 2x a week. Shampoo about 2x a month. ACV 1x a month. Deep moisturizing 1-2x a week. Daily moisturizing with a spray of some sort. Monstly finger combing, but I comb through maybe once a week when I'm rinsing out my DC.

Washing and DC’ing hair every other day or every 3 days – using protein once a week. Rollersetting each time…
Relaxing between 8-12 Weeks (pushing for 12 weeks depends on if something is going on)
Taking my Maxi Hair Vitamins, Flaxseed,Borage and Omega Capsules and Coconut Oil Capsules
 
I've been waiting for this Challenge! I am so totally in!

1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge?
I need 3 inches by June so that I am a blunt even mbl.
2. What is your current hair lenght?
top layer mbl, bottom layer apl.
3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?
Relaxed
4. What are your hair goals for 2010?
To thicken my strands and recover from a hair disaster from last june.
5. What is your hair reggie?
Wash once a week with ayurvedic herbs. rinse with joico conditioner.
Condition with aphogee 2 minute reconstructor 2x month.
Condition with porosity control after touch ups.
Deep condition under my hair steamer for 20 minutes once a week with either silicon mix or my ors conditioner
air dry in 2 pig tails.
clarify with IC 100% pure tea tree shampoo before touch up.
relax @ 10 weeks instead of 8.
moisturize with s-curl, seal with either coconut oil, vatika oil, evoo.
baggie 24/7 and wear either a phony pony, half wig, or bun.
Henna 1x month.


This is my original reggie tweaked for once a week instead of 2x week. It got me to mbl.

megatek two wks post relaxer stop at 10 weeks post
wash with ors to clarify/cheleate every two- three weeks. Deep condition with mizani moisturefuse/dpr elasta with dryer for 30 mins.
use porosity control with every wash.
Leave ins- isoplus 24/7, giovanni direct, aphogee green tea and keratin.
daily moisture ors with coconut oit. Mizani h20 nightime for wrapping or keracare.
stretch for 12 wks.
Ps. With half wigs, i luv them!

Henna 2x monthly...shampoo and condition (f.a.s.t) 3x weekly including deep conditioning...daily moisturizing includes mix of darcy's botanical madasgacar vanilla cream/coconut cupaucu butter/organic coconut oil/and a smidge of shea butter...hair usually in twists under a wig.

5. I follow a protein moisture reggie, with deep condis and protein on
alternate weeks. I moisturize and seal twice a day and I am currently
wearing protective styles for the next 4 months.

4. What are your hair goals for 2010? First and foremost a healthy scalp and strands then APL by 5/2010 & BSL by 12/2010

5. What is your hair reggie? I wash 2 xs a week, Deep Condition 1 a week, a 1 week before pre-relaxer homemade protein treatment to strengthen my strands to give them a chance against those chemicals :lachen: and a henna & placenta treatment 1 week post-relaxer. Clarify every other month. Relax every 12 weeks instead of every 6. no heat/ wet wraps instead. :yep: Moisturize and Seal every wash and every other night afterwards!

To obtain better hair. Maybe if I'm a part of a challenge I will be more dilligent in my hair care.

2. What is your current hair length?
Depends on which part you're asking about :grin:.

3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?
No relaxer, but I do color my hair.

4. What are your hair goals for 2010?
Improved hair health and greater/more even length. (I'm scared to say a specific length. I seem to be in a holding pattern.)

5. What is your hair reggie?
I wash at least once a week. DC once a week. I generally wear my hair in twistouts. My products vary depending on the season and my hair's temperament. (I do use Miss Jessie's products. My hair responds well to them. I am on the hunt for less expensive and more natural products that work for me.)

I want to challenge myself to do right by my hair.

I'm around apl (sometimes it seems near bsl, and sometimes I swear I'm not even apl (so confused :perplexed)

I'm minimally texlaxed, so nearly natural, but not (how's that for confusion?)

I'm in the 2010 mbl challenge (I know it'll be a stretch, but I'll give it my best shot! Most importantly I don't want any set backs. I'd also like to learn how to like buns and up dos, so I'll be looking for some cute ones to try *ahem*:look:

It's pretty simple: I wash once a week, dc, rollerset, and ps in general. (I'm laying off the direct heat until Vday and then again until my May 8th wedding) As for my products, I usually just use basic drug store brands (Pantene, Aussie, HE...) I'm still learning what works best for my hair, but b/c it's pretty healthy, but very fine and delicate, sooooo......

Ohhh yeh!! I'm so ready for this..I was in the last one, but fell a little short when I took liberties of using heat, then I came around to forgetting about my hair all-together. But this time..I am READY!!! Yeh boy..a full year this time too :)

1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge? To retain the length I have, and to achieve a whole lot more. Also to attain better, healthier hair care practices and see my hair do a 180

2. What is your current hair lenght? Currently at SL

3. Are you Natural or Relaxed? 100% Natural

4. What are your hair goals for 2010? APL by July the latest, possibly BSL by Dec. Lush moisturized hair that has little to no breakage or shedding and is very healthy.

5. What is your hair reggie? I'm working on fine tuning it. But here goes:
Wash Days:
Place hair in about 10 finger detangled plaits, co-wash. Apply DC of choice, rinse with cool water, moisturize, seal, style in plaits/twists.
During the week, moisturize and seal ends with vatika oil.


I am in the process of fine tuning the products that will work best for me. Style options this time around will be limited to twists, plaits, cornrows and flat twists. No heat. NO HEAT (I'm trying to reinforce the idea for myself, lol) and NO PUFFS..Lawd a mercy..no mo' puffs gyal!

Finally creating a solid regimen, having enough new growth by summer/end of summer to cut off relaxed ends, and hopefully reaching APL (HOPEFULLY!)

Uh, yeah, funny story. I don't exactly have a set reggie. I just usually wash or co wash my hair every week or so, I protect my hair with a cap or scarf at night (or at least I should) and that's about it. So, yeah, I need some help.

Relaxed with hopes to transition sometime in 2010 (:pray:)

4. What are your hair goals for 2010?

To get my hair in its healthiest state ever; full and thick mid-back length by the end of the year, then decide if I want to continue transition...

5. What is your hair reggie?

Wash and deep condition once a week. When I get to 16 weeks post-relaxer, I will begin co-washing, no shampoo twice a week; deep condition once a week

Weekly mild protein treatments; 1 heavy protein treatment at 16 or 18 weeks post-relaxer

Henna once or twice a month after clarifying treatment

Up until week 12 post-relaxer, I have been rollersetting, but as I get deeper into my stretch and start co-washing, I will do bantu knot-outs or braid-outs instead; wear hair down twice a week, protective styles five days a week. NO HEAT!!!

Drink ~70 oz. of water a day; good protein-veggie diet; exercise 3-5 days a week; take multivitamin, Omegas, silica and Phytospecific Cap'Energy tabs for fine hair.

Im in! Im in some other challenges for 2010 I am believing and recieving that I will be bsl by dec of 2009!

To continue to have healthy hair, to gain length and thickness

2. What is your current hair lenght?
Grazing APL

3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?
Relaxed-Streching for 4 months or more

4. What are your hair goals for 2010?
Thicker Hair, to reach BSL by dec 2010 even if I grazing Im cool with that, healthy hair practices, protect hair for 6 months with weaves, half wigs etc, one major trim and dustings only if needed

5. What is your hair reggie?
Wash/DC one time per week -Organix shampoo and condish, DC lustrasilk shea butter w/ avocado/evoo oil under heat for 30 mins or w/o for an hour or more
Cowash- with vo5 or suave condish, dc with aphogee 2 min and evoo/avocado oil for 20-30 mins w heat
Apply leave ins right now Im using Proclaim tea trea, or HE ltr I need a new one though, use keratin spray if using heat or lacking strength if not seal ends and airdry in a pony using scarf method
Relax every 4-6 months right now Im 24 wks post Ill be relaxing jan 2
Trim when I hit full APL dust ends as needed for healthy ends
Protect protect protect hair via weaves, half wigs, buns and rollersets
Use very little heat
Eat right, exercise 3-4 times per week, stay on my supplements and get chlorella and spirunilla also continue to drink as much water as possible
