I recently told you all about my Dominican experience and how pleased I was with the results.
Well, that was all before I decided to wash my hair last night.
As soon water hit my hair a terrible burnt smell filled the shower and my hair was not reverting like it usually does.
I washed it and conditioned it and as I de-tangled it with my fingers, clumps of hair fell out.
SO was in the shower with me and he had to pry my fingers out of my hair while I was screaming and crying. (He knows all about LHCF and my obsession with my hair).
So I did an overnight protein treatment and my hair is still limp and dead. It looks like I had a bad perm, some pieces are stick straight and some pieces are wavy. My thick, bouncy and curly natural hair is ruined and as of today I am starting my second transition. 2 years of growing my hair out and being diligent and protecting my hair....down the MF-ing drain.
I am do disappionted and totally devastated.
I don't want to post any pictures at this point because my almost APL natural hair is gone and I don't need any forther reminder of mo how effed up my hair is.
I just hope that if you are considering doing a DB, think long and hard, and never underestimate the damage heat can do to your hair.
I like 2 mins from the salon you are talking about and the chick name Maria is actually my best friends cousin and I don't even go there anymore. And if you don't know Spanish they will talk about you like a dog. A lot of women still go their because its cheap and your hair does have that swang when you come out. But I'm Dominican and I never get a dominican blowout...it's just way to much heat. Yea they will charge you extra if you are natural or have any type of kinks sometimes they will even try to convince you to get a relaxer. They will hook your hair up though.
I am so sorry about your hair girl. You shoulda hit me in PM first and I would have told you not to get that service done. But everyone learns their lesson. And again I am very sorry about your experience.
Hey I'm Dominican too! I go to the salon once a year if that now. I'm a DIYer.
One word of caution to anyone that goes to ANY salon, whether its a Dominican, Ethiopian, African American, etc... always go on a referral. I've had Dominican stylists jack my hair up, I've had some make my hair look like a supermodel LOL its all up to the individual person. Please don't let anyone do whatever they want with your hair. If you feel something is wrong please speak up. Now in the case of MissNorway I'm starting to wonder if the lady was mad that she had to deal with somebody with natural hair (it happens to me too) and she just put the setting from hot to on fiyah. If a stylist gives you an attitude about your hair, please walk out! Maybe its superstitious of me, but I feel like people can send those negative vibes right to my hair. Oh hell no.

In no way would I ever laugh at anyone's bad hair experience, and I am sooooo deeply sorry that your DB didn't work well. Thank you for reminding us of the damage that high heat can do. I am crying with you.
....but pouring likka for your dead hair is pretty darn funny. You
have a great sense of humor...better than me, lady.
Again, I am so sorry this happened to your hair...

Girl, I am right down the street. I'll do it for you!No, I am a very non-confrontational person.
I wouldn't know what to say.
I will take this as a very bitter learning experience.
I am so sorry this happened to you.
I was thinking the same thing.
I know a tiny little Spanish ans he said things like; I had bad hair, that I had a huge head and that i had horse hair. And she laughed real good at it too.
Unfortunately I am a very non-confrontational person and I just let it ride out. I think she might have put some bad energy on my hair, because it smells like a perm and it feels like a perm. At any rate, I will put this in the book of life along with back stabbing friends and cheating boyfrinds...they are all lessons and blessings to take along with you as life rolls along.
Girl, I would still be crying my eyes out..I have to laugh about it...lol

That's how I feel, but I didn't know if it was okay for me to voice it lol. As soon as I read that she was making faces, whatever...about your natural hair, I was like "Oh lawd..."I'd have walked out too. I'd be mad because I didn't get what I came for lol, but I'd rather be mad about that then be mad later because she jacked my hair up. As someone else stated earlier, I think you're due reparation fees as well...Bet that *insert expletive here* knew what she was doing.

She used heat protectant, but no heat protectant in the world could prevent my hair from damage after all the heat they use.
Just because your hair is 100% natural doesn't mean it's unbreakable. Our hair is still very fragile.
