Miss Norway your hair still looks very pretty. You never know, maybe it'll revert back to how it used to be. Don't cut it all off yet. If it feels like it was a relaxer... I don't want to put you in panic mode, but I've heard about salons slipping relaxers in the conditioner. That's why I always bring my own.

Unbelievable! I am so sorry this happened to you!!! I knew that heat could be damaging, but not like this from a Dominican blowout! Now you'll have to baby that hair to get it back to health. I know this is a setback for you, but it'll come back around. We're here for you!!!!!:grouphug3:

Just out of curiosity - besides getting really straight hair - what are some of the other benefits? I recently went to a salon (rated the best in NYC by Latina magazine) and ended up having some breakage as well. I'm inclined to say that eventual damaged hair is inherent in the dominican blowout.......

Some of the benefits first begin with the rollersets. It's a matter of direct heat versus indirect heat. Both get the job done, but by having a roller set done to dry, you are giving your ends more protection.

Also, Dominicans charge so little because they use so little products. Less really is more. The general focus is a clean scalp, and hair that is sealed by heat but not weighed down. It's a very simple process that anyone can do, but has just been made popular in nyc due to the influx of salons in certain areas.

The right balance of quality products and quality treatment is key.

Wow sorry about your mishap:bighug:. I would be devastated if that happened to me. I hope your hair will recover with a little TLC.

OMG! (((HUGS))) I was not expecting that after pic! Your hair was soo lush before! I am soo mad about this, I really want to cry! Luckily it's hair and it grows but dang! They used wayyy too much heat on you! I'm sorry, I wish I had something to say to make you feel better.

Miss Norway I'm so sorry and I empathise - the mental pic of you in the shower was really painful! I have suffered heat damage in the past also. Thanks for posting your story, I'm sure it has and will help others. I'm glad the Aphogee and other treatments have been working for you, we'll wait to celebrate your hair's full recovery, even if you have to trim a little.

BTW your hair was and still is beautiful :rosebud:

I wouldn't be surprised because my hair feels like it is relaxed... :fistshake:

:computer:wow this alone makes me wanna slap somebody upside the head :slap: I do not even know how to begin to say how WRONG and unethical it is to slip a chemical into a conditioner and put it in someone's hair what kind of crazy beyotch does that? It would explain why your hair was coming out in clumps since it hadnt been nuetralised and they proceeded to use obscene amounts of heat on your hair which had a chemical in it :burning: I swear :meditate: OP hope you are better now :runninghug:

Yikes. And you went to the best salon. That is really sad. They have never damaged my hair but after looking at the after pics, I'd be a little weary if I were natural.

I keep saying that I'm going to get my first blow out to celebrate my birthday but...
I'm a little nervous now.

Despite the setback your hair still looks amazing! Keep your head up! :bighug:

WOW. I'm distraught just imagining this.

so sorry about your experience :O(
but I agree with some of the other ladies that you should try to nurse your hair back to health for awhile before cutting (although I'm sure your doing everything in your power to undo the damage now).

The craziest part is that I've been to Elegante (once)!
Me and my sister went last year...and at the time I was only a couple of months post relaxer (my sister was about 7 months post), and while they got our hair SUPER straight ....they didn't seem to take too kindly to natural hair.

Neither one of us experienced any breakage, but I won't be warming up their seats again!

*Wish you the best as you continue your journey
