Miss Norway,
I'm so sorry. Just continue to nurture your hair like you're doing. Thanks for educating the rest of us through your experience. It seems like you have a very supportive so and that helps. Your hair will be back by this December. Hang in there. :(

Have you cut your hair already? Did you try a hardcore aphogee? I would hate for you to cut your hair if it can revert with some therapy. Sorry I didnt read through the entire thread to see if you answered this yet.

I'm so sorry about your experience. Dominican Blowouts are the devil....I had 2 and at first the hair is really silky and straight but it leaves the hair seriously damaged! I will never get another. The good thing is that hair grows back as long as we're alive and your follicles are healthy!!

OMG - I am SO sorry...Keep trying to DC and add moisture so maybe you can salvage something without having to sacrifice everything. Geez, I am so sorry...<<HUG>>

I am so sorry this happened to you . it is a sick feelin to see your hair come out in clumps into your hands ,i know (bad relaxer). protein and moisture overload time . and youll be back in no time at all . hugs :)

Im sorry this happened to you Miss Norway. I got jipped my a DS too but thank god I needed a trim anyway. I trimmed off 2 inches. Natural hair does not need tons of high heat to be straightened sliky smooth. IMO you can skip blowdrying all together and just go straight for the flat iron if you airdry your hair in a way that straightens your natural curl out prior to flat ironing (I.e. pulling it back in a taut pony tail or sit under the hooded dryer in loose braids)

I am so sorry this happened to you. Don't cut it yet, try to baby it and see if you can get it healthy again.

:crying3::sad:

I am soooo so sorry this happened to you girl.

Your hair needs extra TLC right now and lots of time but I know you will recover from this.

:bighug:

I'm so sorry!!!! I really felt your pain because I have had experiences like this before in the past. All I can do is offer you a big e-hug!!!!

Oh dear...I am sorry...I had a simlar experience with a blow dry I had a while back. Dont worry too much. Hair does grow back so just nurse it and baby it with plenty of deep conditions. My curl pattern is coming back now. And I aint seen that salon in over a year!

I have no advise but I just wanted to say how sorry I am. I have never been to a Dominican salon but I have heard they use a massive amount of heat. I have had a somewhat similar experience but I was permed at the time and when I was first natural over 2 years ago the front left side was just straight at the ends I babied and babied the hair but it was heat damage and i eventually cut it off. I have used heat since and have had my hair revert right back to curls kinks and coils. Point being next time (if at all) try flat ironing yourself or have someone you know and trust do the straightening process. Again I am so sorry hun.

I stopped using heat. My hair was very uneven so I started trimming it on a regular basis. I was still new to hair care so I didn't know about moisture and protein. If I did know about those things, I would have done a hardcore protein treatment to stop my hair becoming more damaged. I just remember being very gentle with it and wearing my hair natural 24/7 until it get better.

OMG so sorry! Your hair is beautiful and grows quickly, so keep doing what you did before and it will grow back soon! Didn't you manage to make APL within a year of your "BC?"

MissNorway I am so sorry this happened to you. It just really sucks. I know what it's like to lose clumps of hair and it is quite traumatizing. I'm glad you are focused on moving forward though.

I have a question. Do you think they may have slipped some perm in their somewhere? I know somewhere in this thread you said it kind of smelled like a perm when you wet it. I was just thinking maybe you should neutralize just in case. I'm sure the conditioning you've done so far helped with that, but I'm just throwing it out there.

What's your plan going forward?
I am going to baby my hair and leave it alone. I will continue with my daily co-wash and do protein treatments.

Have you cut your hair already? Did you try a hardcore aphogee? I would hate for you to cut your hair if it can revert with some therapy. Sorry I didnt read through the entire thread to see if you answered this yet.

No, I have not cut it yet, I am doing som reconstructive treatments and lots of moisture. I will look into Aphogee, I will do a search and see what I should do. I will definitely not cut till I know for sure my hair can not be saved.

OMG so sorry! Your hair is beautiful and grows quickly, so keep doing what you did before and it will grow back soon! Didn't you manage to make APL within a year of your "BC?"

Yes, actually less than a year, so my hair grows fast.
But it's so sad to see my hair literally go down the drain.

Thank you ladies for all of your support. I know I'll bounce back. But you all know how it is, you set a goal and you anticipate to be BSL by a certain time. I know my hair will be long and strong again, it'll just take a little longer.

omg MissNorway, I am so sorry this has happened. I totally agree with all the ladies, try different treatments and see if it can be nursed back. I know you will bounce back in no time! You and your hair are gorgeous!

I know, I know. I also talked about my set back this week after letting a salon use a conditioner on my hair as a leave in. I had so many knots and tangles, I lost a good 1/2 of hair. The only advise I can give is that you live and you learn. And I said it and will say it again, women with fine textured natural hair must take control of their hair and be careful with heat and certain products and not just let anyone near your hair.

Best,
Almond Eyes

I just read through this thread and I'm so, so sorry that this has happened to you. You got so much good advise in this thread:yep:

I'm so sorry Norway! (((HUGS)))

Your transition this time will be a synch! Bigger and better than ever.
