I just got straight white vinegar in my EYES. OK, picture that. Think about how that felt for me.... :freakout: And WHY you may ask, was I putting white vinegar anywhere near my eyes? To defunk a weave, that's why. :nono:

I have been struggling with weave addiction for some time now (don't laugh!) and seriously it's getting ridiculous.

1. I am wasting money buying fake hair when I have my own.
2. I am supporting an industry that has many shady ethical issues.
3. I am using petrochemicals when they are not needed... contributing to global warming. :nono:
4. I am spending so much time trying to put a weave in and then it looks raggedy, so I take the time to take it out :blah: The time invested is massive.
5. Last but not least, DH hates weaves. :look:

So I am starting a personal challenge- to wear my OWN hair, cottlamit!
Wish me luck, ladies. Withdrawal is painful. But I feel like I have to do it now or never. :armyhat:

May I ask how you became addicted to weaves with all that gorgeous hair? Did you use weaves as a protective style to grow your hair out?

Inquiring minds wanna know...

U made me LOL! I'm so sorry but I do feel your pain! I too have been banned from weaves by DH becuase no matter how much I spent on hair the darn things still kept shedding. I haven't had one since Aug and I'm still finding red hair in the house. DH doesn't mind wigs though. I'd love to wear my own hair but it's still too short and I'm style challenged!

Thank you, infojunkie!

Actually I didn't put in my first weave till I was already APL. I have mostly worn C&G braids since my BC 2.5 years ago.

I was about to ask the same thing. A weave wouldn't come near my head if it looked like that - I'd be too proud to hide all that lusciousness under some asian chick's hair.

GIRL, you crazy on so many levels!!!!! :whyme:

I dabbled in the weave for TWO months, or 2.5, exactly two years ago. And I stopped, because I could already feel the thirst. :drunk2:

Love your hair.

Yes, I have a massive collection of wigs, too. Seriously, if I have one I have 20. But they are all packed up since we're moving in 2 weeks. I have NO choice but to force myself to wear my own hair. *trembling* I don't know if I can do it....

OMG, thank you! I just don't really know how to style it or anything....

Thank you! Weave is cracktastic... and I don't even buy the pricey stuff. I get cheapo BSS brands. Plus I'm an amateur at the install so they always look a HAM. :nono:

Your hair is absolutely beautiful. If that was my hair a weave, wig, and/or hat would not come near me!

Aw... thank you! I like it when it's wet but then when it's dry I have no clue what to do with it... sigh. So I always reach for the plastic crack... a synthetic wig, weave, or braids.

:shocked::hammer::orders:
You need a good old fashioned beatin' for covering all of that pretty hair up!

lol, you are so silly! But thank you for the compliment.

Your hair is beautiful !!
*blushing* Thank you! You ladies are making me feel like maybe I can do this....

All that beautiful hair and you're wearing weaves???

Not just weaves, but wackalicious HotGhettoMess candidate weaves :cry3: I'm trying to master the self-install but meanwhile I'm walking around looking crazy. :nono:

And when I tell my family that I'm pushing waist length in the back they look at each other like

You do have beautiful hair! I would not hide it!!!!! Think of saving yourself some money while not purchasing weaves. Buy yourself some new clothes or something special with the money you would save!

I Think I can I think I can! Plus You've Sporticus in your Siggy!

Thank you for the compliment AND especially the encouragement. It's hard to stop relying on the weave... especially since I have boxes and boxes, practically a mini BSS full of wigs, weave etc in the house. I tell myself I'll just use up what i have (which would take a year to wear it all) and I go to hairsisters to get ideas for what to do with my hair.... :look: and before I know it, I'm clicking Place Order Now. :nono:

Now you really need a butt whoopin for that one. Your hair looks better than any weave I have seen. :spank:

lol I don't INTEND for them to look as bootleg as they do... I'm just not experienced yet at installing them. And I WILL NOT spend hundreds of dollars on an install.

I have seen some amazing weaves, way nice than my hair, like the ones Reniece has done... and some pics from other hair boards... I just can't replicate the results. :ohwell:

Ooooo I wanna shout at you with all of that beautiful hair and you go and cover it up!!! SMH....

I wanna steal your hair and put it on my head lol

Why do you wear a weave again:look::look::look::look:

For a protective style, like lots of other ladies do... but thier installs definately look better than mine. :perplexed

OMG, you ladies are just so sweet. Thank you.

I'm taking the weave out (an interlock) right now as I sit on LHCF.

You're hiding all of that luscious hair?

If you don't want it, I will take it.

Thank you! I just don't really know how to style it.

You guys know I did just get VINEGAR in my EYES, right? lol I'm in here getting scolded, I thought I'd get at least a little sympathy! My eyes look like red M&M's right now!

Girl....good luck to you!....I wore weaves a lot for awhile and I got tired of paying $100+ to my hairdresser to put it in or take it out which also pulled my own hair out as well. I used to wear braids as well but my hair is just too sensitive for all that so I stopped wearing them and guess what...when I stopped wearing all that in my hair...I really started to love my hair...it took a lot of getting used to being so short...but I fell in love with my hair...you should try to get a nice signature do' for yourself and I'm sure you will be fine...good luck my sis!

Girl I am too cheap to spend all that money, lol. I have noticed some damage from it as well :cry3: While I was looking for pics of the LONG piece of hair that I accidentally cut out, I found these other pics of my hair. I tried wearing it out that day, but I felt like I looked :jester:

I would try rollersetting if I were you. Other options include banding, braid outs and twist outs. And lets not forget the LHCF fave, the bun

ETA: you have such gorgeous hair, you can actually wear cornrows or braids with just your own hair; I mean without extensions

WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!! WHY ARE YOU ADDICTED TO WEAVES?? There is no reason to.... I cant believe you would....

Im real mad at you right now!!

Ok.. i got over it. Girl, your hair is lovely. I hope you win the battle!
