Huge Hit:
SSI Murumuru & Avocado Ultra Nourish Hair Butter - Man, listen. I've been using this consistently for about 3-4 weeks now and I absolutely love it. The consistency is awesome... kind of like a super dense and thick whipped cream? It even makes that crinkly noise when you dip your finger in lol. Anyway... the lightness of this when you apply it would have you thinking it won't have much effect but a little goes a long way and it makes my hair super soft. The smell is hard to describe but it's a total "SSI scent" for those of you who know the line. Very light and sweet but also noticeable enough that the first time I used it my SO immediately asked what I had used because he thought my hair smelled good. This has actually replaced MHC Type 4 for me as my daily sealant butter because I like the smell of this much better (I'm not a fan of the peppermint smell of Type 4) and I think Type 4 has a bit more of a tacky feel both on contact and on the hair. This Murumuru Avocado stuff is just awesome and paired under Oyin Hair Dew... I'm in hair heaven. :love:

@Mische
Great and thorough review! I went back and forth about getting this but will pick it up during her next sale.

Question: What is your porosity?

Thanks!
I consider myself high porosity because of the difficulty I've always had keeping moisture in my hair (it takes forever to get wet in the shower and no matter what I did at night in terms of moisturizing it somehow always managed to feel like brillo pad the following morning). This combo has been giving me life over the last month. I also like the fact that these two products don't weigh my hair down. I haven't washed my hair in well over a month (I'll be washing this Tuesday, don't judge ya'll... low manipulation works for me :laugh:) and it's still fluffy and soft despite me doing my moisturizing and sealing routine daily.

Thanks @Mische for the review. I've been interested in trying a whipped butter but it's very hard for me to use butters depending on the weather and they also just sit heavy on my hair.

SSI has also been on my Miss List as the Sugar Peach and Honey Moisture conditioners were bust for me. I tried the Okra Reconstructor years ago relaxed but I won't revisit because I think it might be too much now. They've got one more chance lol before I throw the towel in.

@Saludable84 no problem! This definitely won't weigh down or sit on your strands. It is so airy on contact and has a way of sinking in nicely. I'm sorry to hear about the previous SSI misses. I haven't tried Honey Moisture and only tested Sugar Peach as a leave in so far since I'm really happy with SSI Curl Moist and leftover PuraBody Chocolate Smoothie as my DCs. Funny you mention Okra because I too used to use that as a relaxed head! Are you fully natural now or transitioning? I still really love a good protein conditioner on wash day as a natural and have continued using Komaza's Protein Strengthener for that step. I repurchased an 8oz Okra about 6mos ago with the intent to retry it as a natural but I'm stuck on Komaza.

I have the curl moist I believe (it's a blue and green jar) so I really hope I like it. It could just be my hair doesn't care for lighter conditioners. I'm still transitioning with about 1-2" of hair depending on the section. My final chop is set for October/November this year. Komaza was great for my relaxed hair too, but these days, like @NaturallyATLPCH i can only used keratin based protein treatments and even those are few and far in between. I stick with nexxus, but so far light protein use has been helping me. I'm going to go back to CJ Repair Me, because I feel as a natural, it would be just right. Nexxus is too strong right now and CJ RM when I was relaxed was just good enough, so I'm hoping it's what I need this time around.

I am going to get the CJ Repair Me during Curlmart's next sale. I too use light proteins on a regular so I would only need to use this quarterly.

Not a Hit or Miss:

Bekura Cacao Bark. Chocolate and my hair never fare well. It smells excellent. It doesn't have much slip so it was still a pain to finger detangle, but by the time I was done with the last section I went back to the first section and my hair was pretty soft. It's still sitting on my head, going to wash it out in a few, then I'll hopefully have a better assessment.

@Saludable84
Please come back with your assessment of the Cacao Bark.

I have x2 of these and have never tried it. So, curious about your review.

I heard some folks mixes it with YAM, which might be interesting.....:scratchchin:

Honestly, I was going to throw some of that on top or just some honey, but I felt like it wouldn't be fair. Honestly, this product needs some honey. As I was using it, I thought to myself that's what it needs.

@Saludable84
I will use it with YAM. I may also try it mixed with Whiskey-Vanilla?

I heard the product is very dense & dry.:look:

ETA: This is another Product that we should do an "Open Discussion" on.

I know everyone's hair is different and will react to products accordingly. Unfortunately my hair doesn't love a lot of things. Your hair might like it. So far the hits from this line for me have been the YAM and Tonga Mousse Opulant Hair Cream,

@flyygirlll2
Did you every try Whiskey-Vanilla or the Tapioca?

I do like the Whiskey-Vanilla. Haven't tried the Tapioca yet.

The only one I can truly say I did not care for was the Apple Sorghum. I could not figure out that product.

MISS:

Wheat Germ Oil - I don't like how my hair behaves with this oil. It feels weird, I don't like it so I will not be repurchasing it.

HIT:

Safflower Oil and Sunflower Oil - I love that these oils make my hair feel absolutely wonderful and soft so they are going on my repurchase list. I will most likely be re-ordering some palm oil and rice bran oil at the same time since my hair likes those oils as well.

@IDareT'sHair I haven't tried either one, but I believe those get good reviews. Does'nt the Whiskey Vanilla lean more towards protein? I'm realizing now that my natural hair doesn't like too much protein. If it's light it's ok but otherwise my hair will feel hard and dry.

I saw the Apple Sorghum and couldn't figure how it work in my regimen, so I passed on it.

MISS

My GINORMOUS stash !!

I was cleaning and reorganizing my stash when the sheer multitude of products struck me. I'm leaving behind a massive carbon footprint once I toss my empties.

I need to revisit the iffy stuff and determine once and for all what to keep and what to toss. I also need a journal to keep track of the products that don't work and why so that I'm not tempted to repurchase them in the future. It's not going to cure my pj-ism but it should help me maintain a more reasonable size stash as well as keep more coins in my pocket.

I agree entirely with your post :yep:. I'm already making a mental note of what I will NOT be purchasing again. I am really trying hard to minimalize (sp?) my stash and everything in my life actually. I really don't need all the stuff that I have:nono:.

@Aggie
Nice Oil List.:up:

I love Rice Bran, Sunflower and Palm.:love: I'll have to add Safflower to my list.

Yeah, it's a Pre-Poo with several proteins. Works great for me as a Pre-Rx on dry Hair.

Yep, the Tapioca gets really great reviews. Can't wait to pull it out for Fall/Winter. It's suppose to be a really nice Cream.

I didn't know what to do with that durn Apple Sorghum. For me, it was a total waste of money.

I wonder if they still carry it? Now, as a Natural, I could use something like that aid in my twisting.

I am currently using Curls Lavish Conditioner to help with this.

Ok, so I like it. It could have better slip, but I like it. After it absorbed, it was very nice. I fell like it could be better though. Also used half a jar. I do not considered it a necessity. I'll probably buy again during a sale though.
@Saludable84
Nice Review.:hug2:

Using 1/2 the jar the 1st time is not the business. Do you think you'd use it the exact same way? Or will you mix it? Now I'm curious?

I plan to Steam with it, so I'm sure it will be great.

Nothing from this line (for me) is a necessity. More like a splurge & a treat.

I enjoy having it in my Stash, but I am not tied to any of it. (Thank Goodness)
