I really hate the phrase "hair porn"

The phrase is just that: a phrase. I like/love looking at beautiful hair photos.

Not looking for political or religion correctness in a hair forum... What about those who may not worship the same God you do? Or are we suppose to be the same here. Please someone enlighten me, I'm new-ish and I may have missed something.

Above this thread was the hair porn thread, I had a little lol moment... :drunk:

I don't like the phase either but to each her own...

My desire to have health long hair does stem from scripture. It is that serious for me...so serious that I paid $6.50 to join a hair forum! Maybe it's only that serious for certain people though? :look:

Here is my beef: I never get how people get upset when someone wants to question a point of view from an OP. If someone can start a thread stating why she dislikes the term hair porn, and use biblical scriptures to "prove" why that term is bad, then I have the right to tell her why I do not agree with her interpretation of the Bible. I'm not trying to be nasty, but if you don't want your thoughts or beliefs to be questioned then you probably should not post them on a public forum.

Wow! I left to take a nap and come back and this thread is 4 pages!
So just to clarify for some -- I don't think the pictures are pornographic in anyway. In fact, they're quite beautiful. What I don't care for is the word.
And I know everyone isn't Christian, which is why I said I wasn't trying to offend anyone.
I posted this to express my view, not to have it validated.

I agree with you completely. I think it goes both ways. If someone wants to post pictures and call it "hair porn" why can't they? If the OP wants to post scripture, why can't she? There are always two sides to things. People are not always comfortable to post when their opinion is the minority and will be made fun of. I see no reason to attack or put down someone, especially one's beliefs, when OP did not do that to others.

I really don't like the term either. I never connected it to my religious beliefs, I just think it sounds so...vulgar? crude? IDK. I appreciate the pics, but the phrase (ironically) is a turn off.

I don't like the term because my mind cannot recognize any useful association between "hair" and "porn". To me it is like "hair toilet" or "hair oatmeal". It just didn't make sense to me when I started looking on the hair boards and I didn't understand the possible origin of such a term. But then again, I don't get into watching bun drops or hair swish videos. I look at pictures of hair to see the progress of the person posting, style ideas, color options. But hey, to each his/her own. I just usually skip over those posts.

**queues porn music*** . Lol! I understand, I agree with you. But, I feel the same way about any topic followed by the word "porn". It isn't my biggest pet peeve though. I just read past the title and keep it moving.

I

Food porn
Hair porn :lick:
Fashion porn

And in moods I may indulge in some real porn... Taking the word out of it's context....

Porn=simply something good to look at :yep:

Be it boobs or that delicious bun...(hair bun or corse ;p)

KIM....

What's funny to me is, if a person is looking at it from a religious perspective, they have a problem with "hair porn" more than "hair idol"!

Who is to say people with a religious perspective don't have a problem with the term? The absense of a thread about it doesn't constitute agreement with the usage of the word.

The term 'hair porn' made me feel nervous the first time i saw it. And it actually made me not wanna click it.... lmao.

hahhahahaha if it was, it's the most ineffective troll post ever! troll posts are supposed to get people all riled up and angry. not stroking their nape in anticipation and ish.

this issue has come up before on here. equally earnestly if i'm remembering correctly. i think OPs distaste for the use of porn to describe an activity she likely engages in (literally drooling at copious amts of hair pics) is sincere.

i might get called out for this, but i'm assuming OP is of the older persuasion :look: and kinda conservative. i can totally see my grandmother genuinely flipping out about it. actually i wouldn't be able to go online and download hair porn in her house. laaaaaad, the scene it would cause! and the lecture that would follow if all she did was read the name of a thread.

I'm older and conservative, and the term doesn't bother me at all. *scratches my back fat in confusion*

Hi Charla!

I would just like to say that I find your views of the term very interesting. I never looked at it that way before. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I can appreciate you using biblical verses to support the beauty that is hair. I'm Christian too, (by no means a perfect one, but if anyone can point out a perfect person I'd love to meet him/her) and the term hair porn doesn't offend me but I can definitely see where you are coming from.

There are many people who share different POVs and I don't see anything wrong with you posting Bible verses to help illustrate your opinion. I don't think you have to reserve your post to the Christian forum anymore than someone of a different religion needs to confine their beliefs to a different section of the forum. What you have said relates to hair so I don't find it off topic.

Have a good day.

My boss actually thought i was looking at some kind of porn when she looked over my shoulder once....she wanted to know why so many women on here were taking pics of their hair without upper clothes on.

Still, the term does not offend me an i know exactly what is meant by it.

Lol. I have never looked at LHCF at work. I do look at my sports board (redraidersports.com) and those boys DO sometimes put some pretty on the edge pics in their siggys.

Oh man, you didn't get read that? Well in my bible study days they had them in the back. Here's a little snippett:

In the Book of Alberto verse V05 it says:

Let she who is with protective styling undoeth thy bun.
And I shall drooleth overeth it
! :lick::lick::lick::lick:

:lachen::lachen: I CAN'T BREATHE :lachen:

You going to hair hell.

:drunk::drunk: i don't even understand the bolded. normally i'd say that's blasphemy but w/ all the christians coming out in this thread i'll just say it's CRAZY TALK! what? i have a lot of respect for you reeko43, but i just don't think your hair obsession is deep enough. Get ye to the XxX thread stat! you need re-indoctrination (y'all have no idea how many church related and thus completely inappropriate terms i am consciously avoiding using here.)

i'm still woozy from the revelation. although now i'm wondering if i immerse myself in hair p0rn more because i am only SL :look: ? i don't think so tho. after all, i still love looking at gorgeous and fashionable black women... and i'm a gorgeous and fashionable black woman... so i'm now just genuinely :perplexed:

serious Q, not to derail OP, but how many of you reading this only look at hair pics and videos for completely practical purposes (like to verify length checks and etc) and don't literally get off on random pics of big luscious hair?

*ETA to add bold to my question cuz i'm really curious about answers. but don't think it warrants a separate thread :look:

I think the op has a right to express her views. This forum gives us a chance to look at unique personal truths, and views of women all over the world. It would be very boring here if we all had the same points of view.

Thanks for sharing your feelings on this topic op. It seem as if this is a very spiritual tied topic for you. And opening up a thread with the word porn seems like it has a strong toll on your relationship with God. This topic has really stirred up some personal emotions for you . To quoting the Bible about a "pop culture" term is deep, so if I was u, I would really stay out of threads with the porn term. Why do something that you think may anger God or stunt your spiritually. Not worth it!

I think those who don't have a deep religious tie to the pharse , should be able to title threads hair porn as many times as they want and those who are offened really need to stay out.
