Even if you don't wear textured styles, you can still heat train *Kanye shrug* Relaxers are just unnecessary *to me*Not everyone can handle it or wants to..hence relaxers...
If it isn't for everybody, why are we born with it?![]()
are you on level 10 at all times? Every single thread I've seen you on you've had the 'going hard' meter pushed all the way up. Just wondering
If one is all about being natural and relaxer free, how come they are the same ones shaving their legs, bleaching their hair color, wearing makeup, eating processed and genetically modified foods, getting long acrylic nails done, whitening their teeth etc. Nature didn't intend for us to have silky smooth skin or eagle claw nails. We all modify our "natural" selves all the time. Hair is only one aspect. Get over it![]()
It's just my personality....Sowwy.

I do not buy the idea that natural hair is not for everyone because relaxers and hair straightening is a relatively new phenomenon in the history of black hair care. For centuries, black people "dealt" with their natural hair. They styled it in intricate styles utilizing beads, clay, and other ornaments to dress up their hair for various occasions. They wore cornrows, twists, braids and other hairstyles. There was no alternative (in other words, there were no relaxers) to wearing your natural hair texture.
It is only recently that people started to feel like they couldn't "handle" their natural hair. If relaxers no longer existed anymore, if flat irons and other straightening tools were never invented, then we would still be wearing our natural hair because it is the hair that we are naturally born with. I never get how something that grows from your scalp is not for you.
In that case, dark skin is not for everyone either.
Nothing is for everyone except air, water & death...
ETA: I'm tired of ppl assuming that people who make a conscious decision not to be natural are "scared" or insecure.
Just the other day I had a woman come up to me & compliment my hair. She assumed I was natural. I told her that I was actually texlaxed... She then goes on a tangent lecturing me about how I should go all natural & not be afraid of my hair texture
I stopped her asked her how long she'd been natural. She said 1 year. I said... "Awesome... I was actually natural for 8 years & I'm not at all afraid of my hair texture". That shut her right up.
For me... Being natural isn't some sort of declaration. It's just a choice. Back when I first went natural, I BC'd on a whim. I texlaxed because I wanted to. Tomorrow I could wake up & BC again. Who knows. It's just hair.
"Natural hair is not for everyone" is just worded funny, sounds wrong, and I disagree with that statement with the way I interpret it. If it was worded like "not everyone chooses to remain natural" I 100% agree with that statement and take no issue with it (nor do I with people getting relaxers).
In that case, dark skin is not for everyone either.
I agree. I can get with this^^^ But I can't get with people telling others that they "can't" go natural for XYZ.Agreed. I think the wording "Not everyone has to want to be natural" is even better![]()
I just want to know why black people must want to wear their natural hair. Other than the "self hate-you want to conform" arguments, why MUST we wear our natural hair? Who said so and why? Are we trying to prove a point? Are we trying to be self righteous if one is natural and another is not? Are we trying to make a statement? Are black people now unable to make a choice in how their hair is done in terms of chemical proccessing or not.
I'm just thinking out loud, that's all. All this is just....I don't know. Divisive I guess.
