....I hope this video doesn't go in the direction that I am assuming it's going...Anyhow I'm off to watch the video...I'll be back with my gifs and comments either way....

but the truth is, it isnt for everyone.

-Many people do not know how to style their hair to fit their personal style
-Not all people are comforable with their texture.

with that said I wouldnt have it any other way, I like being natural

but I am not going to knock someone who decides being natural isnt for them.

I can't spend my life worrying about the hair on another womans head.

fyi, didn't see the video. I just added my :twocents:

Oh? So all girls who are natural are confident? H* please. See this is the kind of bs that just irritates me. This is why there is so much conflict between naturals and relaxed heads. There really shouldn't be. Don't say stuff like "Oh it takes confidence and balls to go natural" And then she goes on to say going natural takes the time to try new methods and products... I do that as a relaxed head just as well... Talking about you have to be prepared for the un expected....I'm sorry but when I switch relaxers I gotta be prepared for the unexpected just as well. You never know wtf that new brand is going to do to your new growth.

"A lot of us we make going natural look easy. We make it look good."

Um. I'm sorry. But outside of youtube and LHCF the natural heads I see on a daily basis are not as stylish as my LHCF divas. Nope. Nope. No they are not. This is what irritates me. Someone with barely neck length choppy natural hair coming up to me and my healthy APL relaxed hair telling me what I need to do. No what you need to do is join a hair forum. I am so over it.

Why is she talking about "Not fit to be on the front lines" ....I did not know natural hair vs. relaxed hair was World War Three.

"Some people need to join us ten years from now after we've already paved the way for them." Is this chicken head serious? Wtf? Did she just BC like 4 months ago? And now she is some expert or advocate. Walking around like she is LongHairDontCare2011 when in reality she is just Amber Rose with a tan. Girl BYE.

:lachen: are you on level 10 at all times? Every single thread I've seen you on you've had the 'going hard' meter pushed all the way up. Just wondering

:yep::yep: exactly quite frankly in real life i see an equal amount of dry broken natural hair v dry broken relaxed hair:look:
majority of the time yes forum girls do make natural AND relaxed hair look GOOD
but i swear people are forgetting just how small of a community we actually are we are not the majority

Nothing is for everyone except air, water & death...

ETA: I'm tired of ppl assuming that people who make a conscious decision not to be natural are "scared" or insecure.

Just the other day I had a woman come up to me & compliment my hair. She assumed I was natural. I told her that I was actually texlaxed... She then goes on a tangent lecturing me about how I should go all natural & not be afraid of my hair texture :blah:

I stopped her asked her how long she'd been natural. She said 1 year. I said... "Awesome... I was actually natural for 8 years & I'm not at all afraid of my hair texture". That shut her right up.

For me... Being natural isn't some sort of declaration. It's just a choice. Back when I first went natural, I BC'd on a whim. I texlaxed because I wanted to. Tomorrow I could wake up & BC again. Who knows. It's just hair.

It isnt...I'd rather see women with relaxers and loving it then to see women with miniscule TWA's raking a rat tail comb through dry hair and complaining about why it wont grow.

Rock what you love but dont put down the other.

I still think "natural hair is not for everyone" is hogwash. Every regimen, style, product, ect isn't for everyone but everyone can wear their hair in an unrelaxed state.

but you still have women with two inch anorexic looking relaxed pony tails saying the same thing.....

I never liked my hair bone straight, but I did not have the knowledge on how to maintain my natural hair. My mom decided, not me, to get a perm, so my hair can be more manageable. I got my first perm in high school as a freshman, so it has been 28 yrs since I've seen my hair natural. It's going to be quite interesting to see what my hair will look like. I got my last perm at the end of January this year, and the reason I want to go natural is because I love to work out. It does not make since to to pay for a hairdo, and then turn around the next day, and ruin it with sweat. I love co washing. When I googled on how to take care of my hair while working out....guess what? The LHCF popped up, and I've been a member since. I've done my research, purchased books, youtube, and searched the WWW for info on African American natural hair care, and when I read the info, everything clicked!

My hair, and scalp was dry as a desert before co washing. I was all the time scratching my scalp, and did not know why. Now I know. Since co washing, my scalp has not itched, and my ends are soft. I am transitioning. My hair was APL, but last week I cut off 4 inches of the relaxed ends, and I will gradually do that over the next year 'til all of it is natural.

I'm mad you said their ponytails are anorexic...

Honey. They are anorexic. That's my biggest fear. An anorexic ponytail. Smh. A little part of me dies inside every time I see a girl with APL hair...But it is nothing but 6 measly strands in a ponytail holder. Like...How long did you leave the relaxer on for honey?

This!!! Every time I see this statement made, I want to press my imaginary NO THANKS button. It just doesn't make sense to me. I can understand the statement "Not every hair style is for everyone". But natural hair is NOT nor will ever be a "style". It's. how. your. hair. grows. out. of. your.head. The end. How can your natural hair texture "not suit you"? Would you look better if you were naturally a 2c instead of a 4a/b? Does this work in the reverse, or do all people feel that natural hair is always acceptable for 3b's and above

Well THAT should have been the title of this thread. It is for everyone, but some people choose not deal with it.

I do not buy the idea that natural hair is not for everyone because relaxers and hair straightening is a relatively new phenomenon in the history of black hair care. For centuries, black people "dealt" with their natural hair. They styled it in intricate styles utilizing beads, clay, and other ornaments to dress up their hair for various occasions. They wore cornrows, twists, braids and other hairstyles. There was no alternative (in other words, there were no relaxers) to wearing your natural hair texture.

It is only recently that people started to feel like they couldn't "handle" their natural hair. If relaxers no longer existed anymore, if flat irons and other straightening tools were never invented, then we would still be wearing our natural hair because it is the hair that we are naturally born with. I never get how something that grows from your scalp is not for you.

IA. People cant handle it because in recent years we havent been taught how to b/c of the relaxer phenomenon and people dont really care to learn. Hence why people relax over trying to learn how to deal with what comes out of their scalps.

I say to each his own. It's all about preference. Some women would rather not deal with their hair in its natural state. There are women w/non-relaxed heads who still don't wear their hair in its natural state. They keep it straightened because they prefer the look, they just chose to use heat over chemicals to achieve the style.
