This isn't a real situation, at least not for me.
I know there are many variables that could be considered so let's make a few hypothetical scenarios:
Number 1: Ex- high school bad boy who has been affiliated with some of his still bad-boy friends. Gets locked up for being guilty by association, even though he doesn't hang out with them anymore. However those in the neighborhood (where his old friends decided to carry out the crime) still associate him with them, and their crimes. They do a house raid and the victim states him as one of the felons. He was at home that night with his mother, which isn't a sufficient alibi. (This was actually a true story for a family member of someone I know, I don't remember how much time he got).
Number 2: Same scenario, but he was part of the raid and gets locked up.
Number 3: Same scenario, but you meet and start a relationship with him after he commits this crime (though it was years ago) and claims to have changed (and you know about his past). The case was unresolved but recent evidence re-opens the case and he is convicted.
Number 4: One of his old friends is mad that he left their group/ gang and raids his own home claiming it was said guy, at a time where he knew he would not be able to provide sufficient alibi. He pays other people to say they were witnesses and frames him. He is convicted.
** I know all of these may not be entirely realistic, but its just to get an idea of how people would react**
Would you wait for a man in any of these four scenarios? If so, how long?
