Would You Return The Engagement Ring?

Unless you get engaged on Christmas, Valentines day, your birthday. Then it's a gift.

No if you get engaged on Christmas, Valentine's Day, your birthday or your anniversary then it is a gift. If you get engaged on any other day then it is considered a conditional gift and you will be required to give it back in the eyes of the law.

To those of you who said you would keep it: What if it was a family ring? Like, his grandmother's ring?

This is the only instance where I would return it. A family heirloom should stay within the family. If I'm not going to be part of the family, then I shouldn't have it.
