Hello fellow hair sisters. I've always wondered how could a woman do such a thing lol. Wearing your scarce in the privacy in your own car is one thong but I see ladies who go into walmart like it's no big deal :o. I then look around to see others reaction like "ohhhh no do you guys see her" and usually no one is looking or having an reaction so I just go about my business lol .

I just want to know your thoughts or if you wear your bonnets or sleeping hair accessories out to share.
 
I dont care really. I have worn my scarf out in public. Its never dirty and greasy or has those brown gel spots on it so whatever.
 
I keeps it real. I will go as far as wearing rollers out in public if I have to LOL

A few weeks ago my son asked me for a ride to work. I was deep conditioning and didn't want to rinse out my hair yet. So I slapped on a plastic cap AND threw on a huge Red Sox hat. My son was like mom you look crazy as hell ahahaha i said whatever hater do you want to take the bus to work instead?

I do what I have to do too. Lol. That includes wearing my braidout braids into cvs. I'm not ruining a good a braid out. I usually cover my braidouts and rollersets in a bonnet. I'm getting better at not feeling embarrassed about wearing it. I've worn my rollersets without a bonnet out too.
 
scarves aren't the issue as scarf can be a fashion accessory even when its tied to your head. i think bonnets, wrapped up,rollers or pin-curled hair is more trifling. if its so humid you can't take your pincurls or wrap down then put a scarf on it and tie it cute or wear textured styles and stop trying to wear your hair straight.
 
I don't do scarves in public. I typically give the side eye to people who do. But hey, people are free to do whatever they please.

I so agree with this. You can look back at old photos and the women wore scarves during different eras. I would NEVER go out in rollers, pin curls, wrapped hair, those satin bonnets in public. I was raised by women from a different era so this has always been a no no for me. Fashion etiquette for both men and women has gone downhill.
 
I only did the hair scarf thing when I had to pick my son up from work late at night because I wasn't getting out the car and no one would see me. He'll, even if they did see me, it's almost midnight so who cares.
 
I seen ladies wear the long scarves and they look so cute. I think it is fine as long as it a fashion accessary.
 
I wouldn't wear a shiny pink nylon "bedtime" scarf out, but I love scarves made from nice fabrics and creative headwraps like the lady in the video is wearing. IMO it's the same as wearing a hat.
 
I don't wear rollers in public but I will wear my braids for braidouts in heartbeat, especially to places like the grocery store. I think bonnets/rollers look tacky, but I also feel like if your in your car and your not getting out (ie drive through or dropping your kids off) not a biggie. But people come in to their doctors appointment with bonnets, all.the.time.
 
What scarves are y'all talmbout? I wear scarves every damn place I please. To the office, to the mall, to the church, to the fair, etc. Scarves are a fashion accessory to me and I think I look pretty good in them, even though I do say so myself.
 
I dont make a habit out of it, but if I have to I will, like only in emergency situations and even then I'll try to find a hat or something a little more acceptable to cover up the scarf. But I definitely feel awkward, like everyone is looking at me crazy (even if they arent really paying me any mind).
 
I use to look down on people who do it and recently I have done it myself lol. Lately I have been in a mode where I don't really care really. Life is so much bigger than what the hell someone thinks about me because I know dang well if I wanted my hair to be fly that day, it would!
 
My 8 year old son pointed to a woman with a durag on and said out loud, "Mummy she's wearing your nighttime thing in the daytime"
 
For me it depends on the scarf. If it's one that meant to be worn as a fashion accessories then that's fine-->

Oh and I wanted to say that I don't wear my satin bonnet everywhere I go BUT if I have to I most certainly will. I ain't mesing up my hair, tu estas loca :grin:
 
^^I agree with that.
I have a few thoughts on the situation:

1) I think there's a difference between a bed scarf and a cute fashion scarf.

2) I do not make it a practice to wear scarves or pin curls or rollers or braids out, but if I have to go to the store really quick or am setting my hair for something I will do it and it's not a problem as long as I'm neat and it's an errand type of place.

3) On the few occasions that I have been out in a scarf/braids/even baggy sweats or whatever and I happen to notice a chick who is dressed to the 9's and still mediocre looking at me with the ":nono:" face I pray for her heart to be blessed because what she may not realize is that, based on my personal experience, I know that she would probably still be looking at me whether this scarf was on my head or whether I was "dressed" or not. But for a much different reason :look: So her concern is sweet and amusing but I really don't have time for it. lol

I have some very nice ones that I wear in the winter. I hate hates and I hate the way they smoosh my hair and make my hair frizzy. I take off my scarf and my hair looks fly for the rest of the day.
 
Man after i see how men dog out women and talk about women that look like "Aunt Jemima" in scarves i wont dare do it.lol Even if they didn't I ALWAYS care what others think and try my best not to come off in a negative way to others. But u ladies say u make it a fashion statement I would love to see it because i can't pull it off and i have never seen ANY lady pull it off without looking like she just rolled out of bed.

Um...there are some scarves that are appropriate for outside wear and some that are not. A bonnet is never cute when worn in public in my opinion. Or when people wear bandannas (or bandanas) as scarves. Or when people wear shower caps outside if it's rainy. I just can't get with that.

On the one hand I understand it to a degree, but then I think there's really no excuse because there are lovely scarves that can cover up your hair just the same. So while you're in Walmart with your bonnet/bandanna/night time thing in the daytime on, go ahead and pick up a nice scarf to replace it. Fair enough?

its my iphone and i didnt proof read lol and yea i agree i take that back i dont know if u remember coral from the real world she wore nice scarfs BUT thats never the case its always ladies out with bandannas bonnets shower caps plastic bags..
