My rollersets actually come out great; I just cannot stand sitting under the awfully hot dryer for over an hour, its torture.

I voted "I don't know how to roller set" because I've never, ever, ever set my own hair before... I'm lazy...but love to wash my hair so I wash 3x a week. I wear buns and braidouts. I'm might when my hair gets longer learn... my next goal is to learn to braid my own hair in extensions...

I used to do rollersets very often. Now, I am at a length that I have not been at since my early twenties, I am in my late forties. I do not like salons and do not go, so there is no one to do it for me, and the idea of sitting that long kills me! I have posted several times that I am supposed to be doing a rollerset next month for my friends wedding, I have everything to do it, but I am afraid it still won't get done, I am convinced my girlfriend is getting a wash N go or a braid out! I can't wait til 06/06/09 comes and goes! (Wedding date)

I love rollersetting. Can't understand some people saying it doesn't look right on their SL hair. I'm SL and I regularly get compliments on my curls, and I've got fine hair to boot. The curls are so deceiving as it makes my hair looks so full.

I can do a very fast rollerset now, 20/25 minutes, but I still treat the hair very gently. In any case the comb just glides through as the hair is well detangled from my DC. It also only takes me 45 minutes to dry my hair. Not sure why it takes some people so long, is it because their hair is so thick/long etc? think I would go slightly mad sitting under the dryer for 2 hours etc...

I am too lazy right now to roller set my hair. I may start roller setting when it gets colder outside and I am not co-washing as often.

Anything besides wash n go's, quickly clipping up or bunning up my hair, and DC'ing is beyond my ability (slight exaggeration).:lachen:. If my fingers are in my hair for too long a time I usually start messing things up.

Just too lazy. I workout 5-6 days a week and that's just too much to go through for a style that's only going to last a day.

Wow, it's funny I saw this thread because I just did a rollerset this past weekend for the second time in a row. Now although it came out pretty nice..I'm kinda bored with it at the same time. I've been doing rollersets for years so I want something completely different. And yeah...it takes a long time to dry plus my hair is so thick and bushy that it takes me a long time to get the rollers to set right in my hair. And too..I'm getting lazy...I'm beginning to do twist outs more because I think they will be quicker to do and better suited for my hair for the summertime.

I rollerset every weekend but I can't stand being under the dryer(the purple Hot tools ion tourmaline one) so I rarely dry completely,I stand it for about 30 minutes and then I let it air dry. Then I use a banana clip and that's it.

I love to roller set! It's the only way I style my hair. It's so versitile. I usually just finger comb the curls the first 2 or 3 days and then wrap it for the next to wear my hair straight. If I just want to wear it straight. I take the rollers out before my hair is completely dry and wrap it around my head and sit under the dryer for about 15 to 20 minutes. My hair looks just like I flat ironed without the direct heat.

I dont have enough space in my little room. I'm so serious. I still havent unpacked boxes from my move 8 months ago! So I know I wouldnt be able to fit a dryer in here :nono:

I love roller setting. I have been doing it since I was a teenager. It takes me about 15minutes to roll my hair and I let it airdry overnite while I am sleeping so for me it's not very time consuming at all. The next day I remove the rollers and finger comb my hair. I get compliments on how nice it looks. My rollersets always turn out smooth. I am 21 weeks post relaxer and you can hardly tell it. I also roll my dry hair every nite before bed.

I am WAY too impatient to rollerset. it always seems like a good idea, but i havent gotten a hang of the roller placement for my head, and the even when i've finished, i cant stay under the dryer long enough for it to dry. I have a kind of crappy hooded dryer, so it doesnt dry fast AND i'm paranoid about my hair in the dryer "hotspots" drying out and getting damaged.

I hate sitting under the dryer, and I don't like how my hair feels afterwards. Also I'm terrible at getting every single hair in a roller, I always have strays slipping out of their roller and getting puffy and not drying right...it's a mess.

I plan to start when my hair gets a bit longer...but I won't wear it curly. I'll do the dry/Saran Wrap treatment to get that flat-ironed look, lol.

my reason isn't listed, but i don't like how it appears to shrink my hair(which i think is due in part to the fact that i have layers). i even went up to larger size rollers, but I still didn't like it. when i get to full BSL i think i'll give it another try.
OMG Finewine83... the karate guy in your siggy is hilarious! I just spent like 5 min LMAO!!

I tried rollersetting twice and hated all the manipulation and the usage of the rat tail comb which I totally hate using. And the sitting under the dryer for hours and then once done the results weren't good enough for me to do it regularly. I may try it again if I have an entire day to do it.

I would LOVE to know how to rollerset. I've watched my share of tutorials and have had my share of tries...it NEVER works out. I lose a lot of hair, my arms get super tired, the hair isnt slick enough on the roller, the placement is sh*t, and I get so frustrated to the point where I'm on the brink of, if not already in, tears. I can't rollerset for nothing....BUT...I'm trying to learn with cold wave rods and dry hair sets.

I don't know how.

I have tried to replicate my former stylist's rollerset, but the rollers fall, and I don't know what clips to use.

I use to not rollerset because every time i went to the local salon it came out looking puffy and dull. My mother's hair however always looked shiny and bouncy. I figured it wasn't worth the time nor money to get it professional done. After purchasing a dvd on how to do it I was much happier with the results. Im still too lazy to do it on my own hair but I do enjoy dong rollersets on others.

Me too! :yep:

I don't rollerset my hair, because I usually see broken strands of hair after I take the rollers out, and partly sheer laziness. I've been blowdrying my hair for a few years now, but at one point had decided to start rollersetting my hair for a few weeks to see if it was a healthier option. I didn't see a difference either way and went back to blowdrying.
