A lot of ladies here love & swear by rollersetting, but if you don't do it, share your reasons why!

Personally, I think it's a lot of manipulation for my fine strands. I've done it a few times, but I just prefer not to. Not to mention I'm a little lazy when it comes to styling my hair.:look:

my reason isn't listed, but i don't like how it appears to shrink my hair(which i think is due in part to the fact that i have layers). i even went up to larger size rollers, but I still didn't like it. when i get to full BSL i think i'll give it another try.

I rollerset my hair for a long time, but, I'm taking a break. This weekend I am going to air dry and then curl with caruso's and then wear it in protective styles, at least that is what I plan.

I am taking a break on the rollersets because my hair looks and acts better with direct heat, not too often of course. The rollersetting is wasting my time because it only looks nice that one day.

Mine's a mixture of reasons. 1) I don't know how to do it 2) I think my hair is too short to carry off a rollerset look well, my stylist did it for me last time I got a relaxer, and I came out looking like a black Shirely Temple and not in the cute way:eek: 3) B/c i don't know how, I'm afraid it will be too much manipulation on my strands that I am still trying to nurse

I can't do it.

My hair doesn't like that much manipulation. All that parting and pulling and rolling....

I'm lazy.

I put hours into roller setting my hair and sitting under the dryer last week, and immediately rinsed it out - my hair is not long enough for it to look nice.

Plus, if I'm being good, I do a lot of cardio and it's not worth the effort since it sweats out.

When I rollerset, after i comb my hair out, I see half strands of hair everywhere. It's not because of too much protein, I normally dont use much setting lotion, large tooth comb, etc. I see less hair fall when i rip through my hair with the blowdryer.

Plus, I just dont like the results. My hair is also fine, and to me, my hair looks flyaway when I rollerset.

I don't see the health benefits that everyone else does- alot of manipulation to not like the results and possibly wash my hair again 2 days later. And I actually know how to rollerset.

What is working for me is airdrying and using my Carusos. I get full hair with minimal effort and my ends are staying thick.

I don't do it often..b/c I work out and its gone after a day so all the pain and suffering isn't worth it. Also its getting harder and harder for me to roll the back to my liking, I need longer arms or double jointed shoulders...haha.

my hair is unruly when wet...plus i have very thick natural hair....i can never get the rollers tight, the hair is always wraped tight, but then as i continue i notice they become more loose and no amount of clips seems to hold it tight enough.

i wish wish WISH it would work out tho....im in desperate need!:perplexed

I've tried, but I'm about ready to give up. I can't rollerset my own head. My mother can do it, but I can't depend on her to do rollersets for the rest of my life though. :perplexed

What do you ladies do if you don't do rollersets? I've seen several people use carusos...

I wish I could.

My arms aren't long enough to get my hair around the roller smoothly without twisting it.

The largest rollers I've found aren't really big enough.

I'm lazy and it's very time consuming.:look:

I love the way rollersets look. I'm seriously thinking of going to a salon and having them deal with it.

I don't do them because I'm not bone straight anymore. I love and miss my rollersets mannnnnnn:mad: It took 3 1/2 hours but it was worth it because it lasted well over a week with no work ie;curling, rolling etc at all.

There is someone here who has an album all about different size rollers.

She has pics of HUGE rollers, so big you probably can only get about 7 of them on your entire head. I will see if I can hunt it down.

Thank you!

When I told my sister I was going to rollerset my hair and I needed some rollers she went to Walgreen's and brought back three packs of "large" rollers that really weren't big enough.

Rollersetting has not fit into my hair care routine. I prefer to wash, deep condition with heat, rinse, add leave-ins, bun, and go to bed. I can do this 2x a week, no sweat. I usually do this when I get home around 10 in the evening. This whole process takes about 45min-1 hr. If I washed, deep conditioned w/ heat, rollerset, sat back under the dryer until my hair was dry, then went to bed, I think I would be up until 2 in the morning! And I wouldn't even think about doing my hair until a week or more had passed.

You need nne more option, "because I SUCK at it".

I've been trying but I don't know what I do wrong. I am not good at it at all and wind up all upset and just wearing buns anyway.

I used to rollerset when my hair was longer and relaxed, now I have a TWA, so it'd be too much work. Also, I don't have a dryer and my airdried rollersets were always a mess.

  1. I have not mastered the technique yet
  2. In the past I have not been patient enough to sit and let it dry
  3. In the past my fine hair would quickly revert and turn into a puffy mushroom
  4. Shrinkage
  5. Sitting under a hot dryer for hours
Despite all of this I will try it in the future. It sounds like us ladies with fine hair have a harder time with rollersetting:scratchch

I suck at it too. I keep trying, wasted money buying rollers and stuff, but i just cannot do it! always looks a mess. i've given up.
