takes too long to fuss with the clips. and the rollers with the covers always leave that weird looking bump in my hair. if i ever use rollers, i use flexi rods on slightly damp hair: the hair dries faster, and the set comes out just as nice, in my opinion

As I understand it, you have to sit under the dryer for long periods of time for the hair to dry. That's too much heat for me. My hair would dry out.

I love rollersetting, but what I hate was sitting under the dryer. I use to be able to airdry my set but as my hair got healtier it took too long to dry, so now I will airdry my hair and when it is 80% dry I will put some flexi rod rollers in and let it finish drying.

For those who can't get the hang of regular rollers I really would really suggest trying flexi rods for a nice set.

similar situation here,

my roller sets came out nice when I was relaxed....but now that my hair is even thicker and w/o a relaxer-- it takes ENTIRELY TOO LONG for my hair to dry (air drying on rollers is NOT and option on my hair).

Plus with the amount of time it would take w/ me transitioning - to rollerset, silk wrap, and then flat iron the roots like I'd prefer to - I'd just as easily pass....before I pass out!

but this is the situation for me and a lot of styles...my hair is thick, but its moreso densely packed if that makes sense.
not so much long...as there is just "a lot of hair" as anyone that has styled me would say.

Long story short, roller setting ain't for me as a natural. Maybe when I'm longer...but I doubt it.

My hair is too long for my arms and I do not like how ponytail rollersets come out for me. I may try them again after the summer ends.

I have fine hair and one thing ive come to realize about rollersetting is that its all about the products you use and making sure you're hair is free of build-up, detangled and combed thru, that gives me the least amount of breakage and makes it last longer. keracare's setting lotion is the bomb, but if you have a build-up or use too much its just going to weigh it down. It is a lot of manipulation though, i really wish my hair strands weren;t so fine then I'd feel more comfortable doing it more often.

I agree with it being manipulation on my also fine hair. Also, I've tried it SO many times and though I feel like I'm a LITTLE bit better than before, it still doesnt come out right. It takes a lot of time, manipulation and my arms get tired SOOOOO fast... My hair begins to dry out and it's annoying to not get the roller in right, re-wet the hair, do it again, stick clips in there...I usually wind up really frustrated and on the brink of tears or tired and mad that I couldve had dry hair a long time ago. I will continue to try to perfect it, but its on the bottom of my list.:perplexed

I have two reasons; the first, I don’t know how to Roller set and the second, I’m under strict instructions by my partner to not have anymore than one large salon item in our apartment :lachen: so I had to choose between a stand up steamer or a hooded dryer… I chose a steamer :lick:

I wouldn't mind rollersetting my hair when it grows a little longer. Right now what's stopping me is no time, no patience, no hood dryer, no rollers, and most of all, no money.:wallbash:

I don't because I can't do then. My mom however does a MEAN roller set! When she's willing to do them for me, which is about once a month I rock the heck out of it.

I have a question regarding rollersetting. Since I'm texlaxed by stylist says she prefers to blow dry & flat iron my roots straight after my rollerset dries from under the dryer. My hair is incredibly silky straight, but does that defeat the purpose of doing rollersets as a protective style?

And to answer the question, i'm afraid to rollerset myself bc it'll take to long, my arms get tired, and my roots will most likely be puffy.

I don't know how...really.

And then i guess i am a bit lazy....i have so much hair and then theres the parting and the rolling and then.....

THE DRYER OF DOOOOOM........!:burning::cantlook::help:

And with my attention span as short as it is....i just don't have the patience.

But one day i would like to successfully rollerset my hair.

Well I am too lazy to be quite honest but I also think it's wayyyy too much manipulation for my fine tresses, so yeah I'll go with those two choices:grin:.

I dont because im lazy,no patience and it will take to long and im just to lazy mainly.

Didn't vote since my choice wasn't listed. My main reason for not rollersetting is because there is no way I would let it airdry because that would take a full 24 hours. Which means I would need to sit under the dryer and that isn't happening either. I am hot natured and I can't even take hot baths. I take lukewarm and cold showers and baths. Sitting under a dryer makes me queasy and I can't do it for more than 15 minutes at a times when I try to deep condition!

Ugh my hair looks soooooo good when I rollerset.
But alas, I don't know how to do it myself.
I've always had my mom or a hairstylist do it.
So I'm stuck with air drying the ends as much as i can, cool blowdrying my roots, and a medium heat flat iron......

I PUT i DON'T KNOW HOW TO ROLLERSET..
I STARTED LAST SUNDAY TRYING TO TEACH MYSELF AND THIS IS HOW I MUST WEAR MY HAIR UNTIL NOVEMBER..
WE WILL SEE HOW LONG THIS LAST..

I tried for the last 2 washes and it was a disaster, I had hair falling out of the clips, did not know how to roll the sides, my roots were puffy and made my SL hair look NL even after I did the saran wrap method.

Two reasons...the sets don't come out as nice as other methods and time constraints. If I wash my hair on a Saturday morning, usually, I have places to go and can't see taking the time to set my hair then sit under the dryer for an hour.

I used to religiously go to the dominicans and get my hair rollerset for years. But I've been told that it requires a lot of heat to get my hair straight (according to them). It has permanently damaged my hair a lot and refuse to do it any longer.

i am trying to learn after my failed pixie braid challenge (the ssk took over) I tried today and although my technique and apparatus were crap, it came out ok...ooh yea and i have noooo idea how to wrap so it'll be funny to see what it looks like when i take off my satin scarf in the morning.

oh yea and my hair took only 30 mins to dry on the hottest setting of my hooded dryer, this is a big plus!!
