I just did recently, and I am glad I did. It was about 2-3 inches. It was wierd seeing nice healthy hair on my sink like that, and I missed it for about a week.

Now I am glad I did it. I don't miss it and my hair is so much thicker and easier to style. Looks nicer too.

It is more important for me to figure out why that happened and how to prevent it from happening again.

I totally agree. To cut it is easy...my hair is growing at a nice rate, so i won't miss it for too long, just like you mentioned, but to keep it from reoccuring, is something much more perplexing.

I would cut, but my wet buns are my staples, if i let go of that much hair, i won't be able to bun as easily and i don't want to stress my hairline- which i'm handling with kid gloves. I rarely wear it down, so for now, i don't have to deal with it.

i'll keep dusting to make sure i don't get splits. the ends look pretty good and blunt, and i haven't had a cut since december...i may snip away at that spot, though, to keep it from getting damaged further.

just thought i'd let everyone know of my progress.

and since my hair is much healthier, it's barely noticeable, yaaayy!

Awww sweetie I am so sorry to hear that this problem with your hair keeps coming back and I hope and pray that you find out how to prevent it's reoccurrence in short order. Just remember to keep the heat to a minimum or not at all and shampooing too often causes splits as well.

Thanks Aggie..

I'm beginning to suspect part of the issue is hair texture and the difference between my nape and the rest of my hair...it was sooo damaged before, it's beginning to 'bounce back' so I'll pay better attention to my individual strands. Go through my hair with a fine-toothed comb, so to speak. but, not literally. It also seems that my hair just grows quicker everywhere else in comparison to that section.

This is all part of the journey, so i have a better perspective on it.

You know its funny that you post this because I just cut my ends on Friday and I am very happy with it. Mine were kind of see through and I was getting tired of people thinking I had split ends or damage so I just cut. I was almost bsl now it is a noticeable difference and since I cut them, my hair looks a lot thicker.

I cut my see through hair up to about 1" below my shoulder. Altogether that was approximately 5 inches off of my hair. It's one of the best things I've done for my hair. It is easier to wear down in a style. It swings and has more bounce AND SHINE!!!! It's growing back thicker and I experience less breakage from end snags.

My hair was growing great and I wore protective styles but I made the mistake of using non-satin scrunchies to put it in a bun. Everytime I pulled the scrunchies out of my hair I was breaking my hair off. Now I use those elastic bans that don't cause breakage.

If my hair thins up again I will cut it again. I just HATE see-thru hair.

I say trim! Is better to have short fuller hair than long raggidy ends..IMHO. I am sure it will grow back healthy!

i did at the begining of my journy, not becuase it was anything wrong with my hair but i just had issues, not really with my hair but mental issues.

eta: i say trim but not alot, only a half inch. its just your mind playing tricks on you;

While reading this thread, I was thinking why don't you put in a clip-on hair extension, but noted the thread is old maybe clip-on didn't exist, I don't know. I not good with these things but if I was and had thin ends I would get one and cut it so it matches my length. No sew-ins and you get take it out at night. I seen videos on YouTube where ladies used clip-on to make their hair fuller and it wasn't necessary about more length.
